I cannot believe that you have got to the age that you are and NOT ever heard this song before. It is one of those songs that the whole world knows, and for good reason, as it still moves the emotions even after 50 years. :o)
I played the flute and piccolo in my high school band and we used to absolutely annoy our band director during practice when we’d have a brief break and we’d all break out into this song. For some reason it always annoyed our band director to no end and we wouldn’t stop playing until we finished the whole song! Everyone had memorized it beforehand since we planned it out and we did it so often our director finally gave in and let us put it into one of our pep rally routine’s which all the students loved! This was in the 90s but everyone in the school would sing every word! I’ve heard that it’s become a tradition now at my old high school
I just joined a Zeppelin tribute band. I already knew a few of their songs from when I was a kid. After 50 years of playing music I just realized my first choice as a 13 yr old kid was right. Led Zeppelin is the most incredible band ever.
I don’t know how many times my son played his Led Zeppelin albums! He taught himself how to play the guitar because of this music and he’s pretty darn talented! 👵🏼💜☮️ Definitely rock gods 🔥
Because you mentioned 'performance', and your phrasing implied that an outstanding performance was 'not really that great'. You are way off base if you think the mood somehow magically influenced the people there to believe that is was better than it actually was. If that's the case, then you clearly haven't got a clue how good a singer Ann Wilson is, and how much work she put into that TRIBUTE. It is not a cover, and is very condescending and ignorant of you to say it was. Anyone with half an ounce of feeling could see how much emotion and expression she put into that, with her own style, but in keeping the details and nuances true to Robert Plant's original. As a collaborative effort, it was masterfully arranged and a powerful performance.
When Led Zeppelin was honored at the Kennedy Center, the band Heart played Stairway to Heaven in front Led Zeppelin as a tribute. You should check it out on RUclips. Not only did Heart do a great job, but it is fun to watch the members of Led Zeppelin’s reaction throughout the song. Also, the son of their former drummer had been invited by them to come as their guest. He had turned them down saying that he had another engagement. That engagement was actually playing the drums with Heart during the tribute.😀
Kashmir next followed by When the Levee Breaks, Black Dog, Since I've been Loving You, Rain Song, Going to California, The Song Remains The Same. Start here and you won't stop! 🤗
This was filmed live at a 1973 concert from Madison Square Garden NYC, part of the movie based on the band called, "The Song Remains the Same" that came out in 1976.
"Stairway To Heaven" is their most famous song & considered by many as one of the all time best. Led Zeppelin have a huge library of hits. "Immigrant Song", "Whole Lotta Love", "Black Dog", "Kashmir", "Ramble On", "When The Levee Breaks", “Dazed & Confused”, “Since I’ve Been Loving You”, "Rock & Roll", "The Ocean", "Over The Hills & Far Away", "The Song Remains The Same", "The Rain Song", "Good Times Bad Times" etc.
This song is a revelation from above. Never gets old. Such a masterpiece. And Jimmy Page I believe did sell his soul to the Devil for his incredible improvisational skill on the guitar)
I was born in 1971 and grow up listing to this amazing music. The late 60's and 70's had some of the best music and musicians. It was a time before auto turn and was based on pure talent. From the Allman brothers to Zeppelin and so so many in-between.
First time watching you and I'm a new subscriber. Been listening to Zep daily for 50 years, their music never gets old. The best way to do Zeppelin is to just start with the first song on the first album and go song by song through their incomparable catalogue. It's very diverse and all incredible. A rabbit hole worth diving into, you won't regret it; I promise you'll be glad you did! Greatest band ever! 👇🐇🕳️
You absolutely made my night! One of the all times best songs ever written by one of the best bands ever!!! So iconic! A woman who believes that her wealth and status can by her a way into heaven. Please please react to Heart's cover of this song!! It is the only one cover that Jimmy Page ever allowed to be performed. It's live at the Kennedy Center Honors. I think I gave you a link before. Led Zeppelin band members were there to be honored and this was part of the concert. They were blown away by the rendition. 😊
For a couple of years my morning routing was grabbing a cup of coffee, sitting in my beanbag chair and put on the headphones and listen to Stairway To Heaven. Great way to start the day. You should experience Heart's tribute to Led Zeppelin, I can't imagine the pressure to perform this epic song with the band front row center watching you.
It's actually surprising how often Led Zeppelin comes up with something you don't expect. When I first saw them live in 1975 from the opening drum intro of Rock and Roll to the end you hardly ever sit in your seat if you weren't standing on it. You keep waiting to hear that guitar intro of this song and it's like a bolt of lightning hits you. And it hits the 35000 others at the same time. Get goosebumps just thinking about it. Great watching with you!
Yes! The Golden God! Mr. Robert Plant! Had to laugh when Led Zepp was just getting together and Jimmy P was looking for a front man. He and JPJ really wanted vocalist Terry Reid, but Reid was already obligated to another band. He, however, recommended Robert Plant. Curious about what Plant looked like, Jimmy asked about him. Reid described him as “a great, tall blonde geezer! Looks like a fookin’ Fairy Prince!” LOL! True!!
OMG what a flashback!!!! I had an older brother to curate my tender years of the 70s... I heard Zeppelin (Dyer Maker!!!), Journey, RUSH, Pink Floyd, the Wall, Foreigner, Joe Walsh. I lusted over the cover art of Heart and Queen. Every big hit got welded into my brain, just in time to begin High School as a BigGeek. He joined the Army, I went back to Waylon, Willie, and the Hag. BeeGees, Staying Alive gave me a respite, but not for long.
I grew up hearing Zeppelin from my parents and my favorite uncle. I was a lifetime fan by the time I hit puberty. It was just part of my DNA by then. What always bothers me is that there is NO music like this anymore. No long ballads that transition. No beautiful lyrics and interesting instruments like a flute that dances around in the sound. Groups like Zeppelin and Queen come to mind - they were different. Not hard rock. Not soft rock. Not pop. Just their own genre. I miss the creativity of groups like this so very much.
Jimmy Page isn't playing a acoustic guitar he's playing a 12 string electric Gibson double neck guitar! Jimmy switches to the six string neck for the epic guitar solo!
This song is magnificent and always makes me cry with emotion. Jimmy's playing is so precise there's no muddying as there is in so many other bands guitarists you hear the melody throughout and this is what makes him the greatest. Add to that the poetic lyrics sang by the best vocalist ever not to mention the brilliance of Bonzo and JPJ and you have the greatest band that has ever been.
You should Do the Kennedy Center Honors...Where Ann & Nancy Wilson Do this song to Honor Led Zeppelin!! It's fantastic!! I'll put money down, that you love it!! lol 😉💯
Since I've Been Loving You, Whole Loyta Love, Black Dog, Kashmir, The Lemon song. You now know why they are consideted the absolute pinnacle of rock. I have listened to Zepplin every week for 50 years and I still get chills. Enjoy!
This concert was magnificent. I got called by a buddy from the Marines saying he had won tickets to this concert at MSG on a Saturday night. I caught a flight from Dallas to NYC on a Friday morning and took a cab to Brooklyn. His wife had her cousin come over to eat. Yeah we hit off. We hung out a week after the concert. She flashed her huge tits at Robert Plant. I laughed my butt off when she told me he got to see them, but I was gonna be the one playing with them. I flew back to Dallas and a couple of months later she became a Texan.
You start with Led Zeppelin I, song I and you can't go wrong. It will save you the trouble of trying to piece meal after the fact, because you end up doing it all anyway!
This came out when I was a teen living in Joliet Illinois. The Chicago rock radio station had so many requests for it that the switchboard couldn’t handle the number of calls. They announced that they would play it once an hour to get people to stop calling in. I was conversing with another commenter on a different channel who stated the Philadelphia station did the same. It was and still is a definitive performance. If anyone else knows of a station who did the same thing, I’d love to know, thanks!
Led Zep is an original, from start to finish & this song takes me back. This is a classic & I 100% agree that you need to watch 'Heart' pay tribute to them at the Kennedy Center. The gals put on an epic performance & it even brought a few tears to the eyes of the guys as they watched. Ann was 62 when she did it & she shows that age is just a number. Her sister Nancy was 58 I believe.
Best band ever led zeppelin they have sold over 400 million records if not more but for tax reasons no body will really know how many albums they really have sold greatest band ever case dismissed
Check out some of the other live songs from these 1973 Madison Square Garden concerts they did. My particular favourites are 'Since I've Been Loving You', 'No Quarter', 'Whole Lotta love', 'Black Dog' and, if you want to watch 30mins of live performance perfection, 'Dazed and Confused' - one of the best live performances ever! Obviously the studio versions are perfection, but what I love most about Led Zeppelin is the improvisation and energy of their live performances - they never played a song exactly the same twice. Jealous of you embarking on your Led Aep journey! Great video, thanks.
Mid 80th, on my way back supporting my hockey team. Nighttime on a german highway with my first car. Installed radio and speakers during the day (witch easly trippeld the cars value). Volume short to the max cruising at 110mph and stairway to heaven, child in time, in the air tonight on the playlist. What a great night. Hmm. Time to hit the road now. cu later😂
Led Zepplin is indeed one of the premier rock groups of my teens. Another group you may wish to consider is Deep Purple. They came from the same time period and most consider them to be just as fabulous as Zepplin. I'd recommend Child in Time, live, as a first song. I believe the version I'm recalling was recorded on the BBC.
If you are unfamiliar with Led Zeppelin's catalogue, all the way through, I am absolutely green with envy. They should probably be your focus for the next few months, that's not a joke. Just start from album one, track one, and proceed. A killer, no filler for at least 6 or 7 albums.
🎼🎹 You get into music. It’s written all over your facial expressions. You appreciate the feelings and express them openly. I’ll venture to say some music causes you to get goosebumps. Keep appreciating it all. As for the Led Zeppelin performers… Robert Plant is a one-of-a-kind voice for sure. Jimmy Page can make a guitar sing. John Paul Jones plays a fine bass and keyboards. And John Bonham becomes between a Rock and then the Roll on the drums.
This is a great progressive folk rock song, and I enjoyed your reaction to it. Page played three guitars on the studio cut, which is well worth a listen. Two acoustic (a 6- and a 12-string) and an electric. This song was the reason he had the double-neck made for him - he couldn't switch guitars during a live performance - but both the 12- and 6- string on his double-neck are electric. He didn't play an acoustic guitar during this song in concert, although he did for other songs during other concerts. Led Zeppelin is an incredibly versatile and creative group of musicians, and if you dive into their music, you'll be amazed at the diversity. Hard rock, blues rock, folk rock, progressive, funk, country, metal, proto-punk, jazz, raga . . .Others have given you good song recommendations but TBH, it's all good so no matter which Led Zeppelin song you listen to, you'll likely enjoy it. ;)
@@willyroussel3563 From interviews, Page said he played a 1959 Fender Telecaster for the solo, but I haven't read/heard that he used the slide technique during "Stairway to Heaven", although he did for a couple of their blues songs.
@@willyroussel3563 I listened to the studio version again and didn't pick up on Page using a slide, but he sure was "bending" some strings. lol If you do find more info. on Page using a slide during the solo, would appreciate a link. Thanks.
"Since I've Been Loving You" from the same show. "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You" from the Danmark show. It's hard to go wrong, but some clips are more awesome than others.
Craig. Honey. What is going on over there across the pond??? How have you never listened to Led Zeppelin? You’ve just heard one of the greatest Rock & Roll bands ever to grace us with their souls. Welcome to the party! Not judging you, but def a catalogue worth diving into! ✌🏻❤️from Texas
I’m about 1/3 of the way into Led Zeppelin’s biography and it is incredibly interesting. I’ve also read Eric Clapton’s autobiography. When you begin reading about the history of rock, particularly British rock, it’s crazy how intertwined all of these famous musicians were! Jimmy Page was very well known for his early electric guitar work. Robert Plant didn’t come into the picture until after Jimmy had been playing for quite a while.
The idea that Led Zeppelin would be performing ‘Stairway to Heaven’ live presented a logistical problem for Page. With its complex structure and multiple different sections, Page utilises a different guitar for each passage. How was he going to recreate that live? The answer came in the form of the double-neck Gibson EDS-1275, which Page had to have custom-ordered due to the model no longer being in production by 1971.
My two favorite🔥🔥🔥 ⭐️"Since Ive Been Loving You" at Madison Square Garden (you'll be surprised that this Rock band can kill the blues which they love) ⭐️"Kashmir" Celebration Day (a one day reunion concert in '07 with Jason Bonham, John's son on drums. This is the song Robert says he wishes to be remembered for & my favorite song of all time - check out if 32 years later they still got it😉)
Excellent taste! Your first is my favorite! I've been a fan for over 50 years and never got tired of their tracks! I can't imagine a life without their music in it. Timeless legends indeed...🤙🏽
Commit these 4 names to memory They are each God's at what they do 🎤Robert Plant (vocals) 🎸Jimmy Page (guitar) 🎸🎹John Paul Jones (bass/keyboard & anyhting else you hear) 🥁John Bonham (drums) RIP 🙏🏻
As you immerse yourself in Led Zeppelin, you should check out Robert Plant's earliest works AS A TEENAGER(!) when he was the Band of Joy. In this link he sings "Hey Joe," a song popularized by Jimmy Hendrix. Listen to this and remember how old Plant was before Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones recruited him to Led Zeppelin. BTW, John Bonham in on this video. He started learning drumming at 15 and rapidly became inarguably the best rock drummer ever, playing for the best rock band ever.
I cannot believe that you have got to the age that you are and NOT ever heard this song before. It is one of those songs that the whole world knows, and for good reason, as it still moves the emotions even after 50 years. :o)
BY FAR , the best ever rock-pop song in history 🙏🏼
Back in the day Led Zeppelin was in a class all by themselves. Actually, I think they still are.
No matter what song from Zeppelin you listen to you will never be disappointed

think there might be more than three what about the slide during the solo
@@willyroussel3563 From interviews, Page said he played a 1959 Fender Telecaster for the solo, but I haven't read/heard that he used the slide technique during "Stairway to Heaven", although he did for a couple of their blues songs.
@@jmar7631 there is a slide in there it sounds lie roberts wailing during the solo. i am playing radio right now but i will look it up later.

@@willyroussel3563 I listened to the studio version again and didn't pick up on Page using a slide, but he sure was "bending" some strings. lol
If you do find more info. on Page using a slide during the solo, would appreciate a link. Thanks.
One of my favorite songs…
❤
If you want to experience Led Zeppelin the way we did
Start with 1st album and then go down the rabbit hole ❤
Led Zeppelin does not
plug in to amplifiers
Led Zeppelin
plugs in to your soul
❤️ 🎼 🤟
Fabulous!!!!!! Grew up on this one. I am now 59 and remember every word.
Ramble On. The bass line is a killer.
The Rain Song live version is awesome ❤❤❤ LED Zeppelin ❤❤
"Since I've Been Loving You" from the same show. "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You" from the Danmark show. It's hard to go wrong, but some clips are more awesome than others.
The Mighty Zep!
Another epic guitar solo is on the brilliant track Dazed and Confused
Craig.
The GREATEST song ever just done perfectfully
Robert Planet one of the greatest voices in rock! Rest of the band were pretty great too!!! 😁
The GOATS…PERIOD! 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Just look at his passion
My two favorite🔥🔥🔥
⭐️"Since Ive Been Loving You"
at Madison Square Garden (you'll be surprised that this Rock band can kill the blues which they love)
⭐️"Kashmir"
Celebration Day (a one day reunion concert in '07 with Jason Bonham, John's son on drums.
THE MIGHTY ZEP. never will there be another.
Best rock band ever!
Check out no quarter from the song remaines the same
Commit these 4 names to memory
They are each God's at what they do
🎤Robert Plant (vocals)
🎸Jimmy Page (guitar)
🎸🎹John Paul Jones (bass/keyboard & anyhting else you hear)
🥁John Bonham (drums) RIP 🙏🏻
I was born in 1977. Nevermind how good the song is. I'd just like to point out the greatness of the quality of the lighting and sound of this video!
YES WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ? LOL
If you haven’t listened to Kashmir it’s the best! Love your reactions 😊
THE BEST SOLO ever done
