Another really entertaining video Jason. Man, those mountain bike scenes from the handlebar level are great. I like the variety in your videos and briefly introducing your son added that extra human touch. Stay safe and have fun. Cheers and thanks, Sean.
Another great Vlog, big variety of activities, and great views around Melbourne etc, obviously you can see so much more by cycling around the area, and visit to State library was awesome, love ya work! ❤️🦘🦘🦘🇦🇺
I've said before and I'll say it again I really like these videos you put up with bike rides attached showing off Sydney and Melbourne.......the kids jungle gym is a bit weird but still liked it......
Not sure if my last comment went up but i really starting to like your bike rides showing off where you are thanks for the videos keep it up thank you....
Very entertaining Jason. My wife and I are always on the lookout for free camps whenever we can, bit hard in the city with a 21ft van. I will have to keep the bolty bridge parking in mind for future. Enjoy your travels.
I think I mentioned it can get pretty wild there at night. There's plenty of industrial areas you can hide in but always an early wake up with the trucks.
Haven't been to the You Yangs for a long time, mind you I've thought about dropping in on the way home from Anglesea and Forrest. Often wonder what the best bike to travel around Oz is. Been using an Emtb of late and have been to Tassie and South Oz with it and a lot of the Vic mtb areas while my Giant Anthem is gathering dust. When at Derby I came across a few riders on Analogue bikes that were from up North and they used Emtb's when it's hot. Keeping it charged is the problem so I bought a large Bluetti Solar generator to keep it topped up.
I can certainly see advantages to having an e bike. Particularly now that I'm struggling to build my fitness back up. There have been times during winter that I've been low on power, but mainly after 4 or more days of rain, so in theory charging should be ok for me. Bikes aren't cheap though....😁
@@MakingStuffGoingPlaces Retiring at the end of the year so that's the last expensive toy, I think. The big advantage is you can do long hard rides back to back. I rode up Buller (no shuttle) and did the Epic loop back to the car with 10-15% in the battery and the next day did the IndiGo Epic Trail.
@MakingStuffGoingPlaces I have one and there unreal I'm 65 and only started mtbing 3 years ago, I've always wondered how to charge the battery camping ,the bluetti sounds the go if no solar on the roof.
Hi Jason, l'm enjoying your contents. I hope you continue. Where is the weight bridge? l had my sprinter decked out, and I'm ashamed to say l've never had it weighed. I've just moved back from Queensland to the Mornington peninsula. Hopefully, l can find a weighting bridge closer to me. My daughter and her partner just moved to the high country. He is looking forward to when the bike tracks open up as he is into cross country big time. Safe travels Bec
Thanks Bec 😊 That weigh bridge was in Geelong, but search "Goweigh" and see if there's one closer to you. You can also go on Google maps and type in "public weighbridge" and you'll find them. maps.app.goo.gl/EFrCoBnUiqx3c5Vo7
Hi Jason, Thank you for today's video mate, well done. I know you're planning on coming to Qld in the near future and when you do make sure to visit Daisy Hill Conservation Park, located at 219 Daisy Hill Road, Daisy Hill, Queensland. It's a top destination for mountain biking enthusiasts. The park features over 20 kilometers of well-maintained trails catering to all skill levels, from beginner-friendly paths like the Koala Trail to more technical options such as Five Ways and Spitfire, which include rock gardens, berms, and jumps. Riders can enjoy scenic eucalyptus forests as they navigate the diverse terrain. The park also offers facilities like parking, picnic areas, and the Daisy Hill Koala Centre, making it a great spot for a day out. Located just 25 kilometers south of Brisbane, Daisy Hill is easily accessible for both locals and visitors, offering a mix of adventure and natural beauty. Safe travels Bluey 🚐💨
Can you share some engineering stories with us? My brother in law is a engineer and boat builder and he was on a strictly confidential job once. We wanted to know so badly that we would follow him to this location - it didn't help....2yrs later 😂 it was in the local newspaper that the job was Tom Cruise' super yatch Siri❤️ He also worked on an oil rig somewhere near Africa and the stories were unbelievable we told him not to go back 😂
Yes, been to Stromlo a few times. The You Yangs is smaller, less trails, but I think it's maintained better than Stromlo. Last time I rode Stromlo, all the trails were so worn and bumpy....so hard to carry speed.
Thanks for showing us around Melbourne and the You Yangs, areas I have not seen before. Do you get 5g signal on your mobile, you could hot spot onto your phone and get 10x the speed compared to 4g, of course that would depend on your plan and how much data you have, cheers, Garry
Thanks Gary. Internet speed on 4G is heaps for what I need. The antenna is really to extend my range when I'm out of the city. Being inside the van shields the signal, so the external antenna will give me a little bit more.
@@MakingStuffGoingPlaces of course, that steel box around you would be like a faraday cage, I recall now that you mentioned that previously, so an external antenna should make a difference

Thanks Phil 😁 I need to look into some mapping stuff. Time is a real struggle for me as I do so much during the day and it takes 4 to 5 hours already to edit up the videos. I'm still learning to use the editing software so that slows me down too. I've looked at Google Earth a few times as I know many people use that, but have struggled to get good map animations out of it. But yes, I agree it would be a good add to the videos. I see if I can find a way.
Friends from Melbourne highly rate You Yangs MTB park and offered to take me next time in town. But this is the first time I've seen someone ride it. It does look like it offers some spectacular ride. Regarding permits, so what you're saying in Melbourne, even if you're in a private driveway/backyard, you cannot sleep in your vehicle if you don't have a permit? Whaaat??? That's just too draconian "big brother" stuff.
Yeah, not uncommon for people to get in trouble for living in a caravan on private property. But you really need to annoy your neighbours before they would enforce it. I've seen people living in caravans on their land for years...don't know if the Rangers ever had a chat to them though....
