Cat is not to create a file? Concatenate=combine files. Touch cmd creates files. Big difference how can you get this so wrong? Another person i saw instruct this also had third explanation of the > symbol being a filter is no that either. Seems like a lot of confusion or inconsistency in describing what this cmd actually does in the Unix world even among instructors. I ll go with the first explanation it combines files it does not create files nor does it filter files.
