I'll bet the houses were built on sink holes. That's why the houses are breaking up. I believe the dark dirt was added to fill in the ground.
That makes sense. Unstable land.
Yess
Or bog land
That’s what I was thinking, too.
This was a housing development where building was stopped when the development firm went bust according to an article I found.
I love how you go the extra mile and explain things ! And you're such a risk taker ! Be careful ! You are fastly becoming my number one adventurer ! God bless you and your family ! Greetings from Missouri !
You said that beautifully...and defined him. Adventurer ❤
You really do go above and beyond to bring us great content, Matt. I found a site online with photos from that coach house/stables and one photo really distressed me. There were the skeletons of at least two horses and possibly two or three other animals. It looked like they had just laid down and died. I'm glad you didn't find them because you'd have probably cried. Thank you again for bringing us these explores. ❤❤
The development was to be "200 bedroom hotel,311 unit housing development ,golf course & clubhouse, a nursing home and the redevelopment of the manor house into a guest house. A natural conservation area & deer park will be be retained & the ruins of an old church are to be renovated" "employ upto 300 people in the construction and create about the same number of tourism related jobs on thew 600 acre estate", An auction took place on the 13th January 1903 of "Carriages, horses, Horned stock, harness. farm implements and a grand collection of green house plants". The same famiy owned the property for hundreds of years.... mainly absentee landlords.
I've sent you a message on book of the face Matt... interesting connections with the first owner of the family who were there for hundreds of years ;)
ghost towns are my favorite explore
Hi Matt, Irish Fan here. Very exciting to see you explore this place Matt, myself and my partner explored this place about a year ago and agree the feeling around the new build houses was quite spooky , feels like a ghost town! We explored up near the mansion but must admit the cameras deterred us. Great explore all the same!
I know the rules are different over there and you can get like an adult caution. However, never be scared of a couple of cameras what’s the worst they can do ❤️ glad you enjoyed it
Carrigglas Manor was built to designs by Daniel Robertson (died 1849), for Thomas Langlois Lefroy (1776 - 1869), Baron of the Court of Exchequer in 1841 and later the Lord Chief Justice of Ireland (from 1852).
Thanks Matt absolutely loved this explore. You're a gem for pulling out all the stops for us.
A usual explore today. The houses looks like a abandoned film sets. But also reminded me of old army bases too.
Wow‼️ what a view!!!!! That manor house/mansion is stunningly gorgeous! The stonework looks similar to the gothic private school that I attended for high school in Toronto. It was run by the Loretto sisters of Ireland. It had some really old and magnificent antiques in it. You didn't dare sit on any of the chairs for fear that they'd break if you did try that!!
I wish that I'd have thought of asking (at that time) if I could take photos and/or a video of the antiques and the interior of the place....at least the common rooms because it was also a convent with private rooms for the sisters and it also had a hospital or palliative care area for the really old sister.
What a great video Matt! Thanks for taking us on this amazing adventure!!!🥰❤️❤️❤️
Matt in Co Longford there was an enormous housing estate that was built and then left to rot
Back in 2000.
Ireland six yrs later the banking system had crashed.
This could explain why do many homes fell into disrepair
Fantastic explore Matt and done my own research on what happened Kearns developments went in to liquidation blah blah blah and obviously brought carigglas Manor down with it and watched a video on tablet of carriages manors Demise and its such a shame! I really hope the Manor will be saved as for everything else all them many many houses and other buildings are long lost fantastic explore Matt in a beautiful part of Dublin all that countryside gorgeous and love the bits of Irish celtic music thank you matt for a fantastic explore you're Amazing! X
Welcome to Ireland Matt! Probably just one of our many Ghost estates. The developments were started then the boom went bust…wonderful legacy of the Celtic Tiger years. They’re dotted all over the country.
This was wonderful, thank you ❤
😊 great explore! You were absolutely right about the stables. The driving horses would be cross tied in the stalls… ready to go at the drop of a hat. Carriages kept on opposite side of yard. That metal fenced off bit would be for pack of hounds. ( they lived as pack) I kept my horses on a yard almost identical years ago ! And it had been in the owners family since the days of carriages, and hunt yer own food 😊😊😊
Omg that abandoned village was soo interesting, id love to know what happened to them, why they weren't finished etc 🤔 what an amazing explore thou, love it ❤️ xx
Have you ever been contacted after releasing a Video by the Owner, Relatives or Security ? "Hey Mister, I saw your Video and that is my House !" or something like this.
Matt, in your premiere a viewer wanted to know how we found this channel. I found this channel two years ago. I watched you on a flip phone, so you know tiny the screen was, but I was hooked! I watch you now on a tablet. I want to thank you for using my comment on your recap last week. I now feel that I am famous. It made my day. I can"t wait to see you in that red dress. I enjoyed another great adventure. FBHS are the best.
These houses feel very apocalyptic!!!!
That was brilliant Matt.. What a fantastic place and Explore! Shame you couldnt get into the main building!!
I think that could be a military training area / village modelled after the German hamlet.
That was my first thought when I saw it.
We have a place simurlar called imber village and cope hill down all for the soldiers to train.
Great explore thanks Matt x
agree
yep i agree im sure ive seen explorers there ,i could be wrong but if it is the same place there were some military there and the explorers had to leave when they got found out.
Those are amazing tiles around that fireplace!!!❤
Even though it's not finished, it's still exciting because it's an adventure with you Matt‼️‼️🥰❤️
It's ironic that you had three fails during the night and then you decide to park the car so you can get some sleep and then morning comes ....then surprise surprise....you've inadvertently picked a fantastic place to stop for the night because you've now got an exploration right outside your car's door!
It's not just an explore...it's a whole darn village at your disposal to explore how you'd like! That was a very fortunate place to stop and sleep! You'd literally driven yourself, unbeknownst to you, to your workplace!!😂😂
🥰❤️❤️
Absolutely loved this one thank you Matt for all your hard work x
😢 highlights the tyranny of money! AWESOME explore, Matt!! ❤️🇦🇺
That's amazing that you would pull up to sleep and wake up to that lot of buildings . I'd almost think it was a movie set, but seems too elaborate. Guess that mystery got sorted out. Wow!
That was brill! The weird ghost town was indeed weird! I can't imagine being part of one family living in that huge gothic mansion!
Possibly the fenced area with open archways in the stable building may have been for the blacksmith (horse shoes, repairs to coaches etc)?
Loved it! Specially the courtyard one with the horse stables. 😘😘😘
Sad to see wasted money and sites like this. Thanks for your explore!
I love the old stables. What a beautiful place. It was all so different Back then x
That was so awesome! Love this explore! Thank you from Indiana.
The growth of plants inside balconies and the weathered siding of wood tells me it's probably more from the 90s' or early 2000. Maybe be the developers were scams and got rich off people looking to buy new builds. Once everyone paid, probably all building stopped, and now rich developers have gone abroad. Disappeared, leaving heartbreak and disaster.
Great adventure Matt 👍 thanks for taking us all along with you 🙂
Matt, that looked like a breach birth.
Thank You for this multiple dose of fun, Matt. The Coach House/Stables were my favourite. 😊💚
Matt your video's since going Solo have been BRILLIANT. The places you've found Scotland & Ireland were great. Love the fact you are now sowing us the outside of these cottages. And when your on a road trip we get to see what you get up to. Much more interesting keep up the good work!! Much ❤
@karenbaldwin. Well said. 😊
Amazing video today! You work so hard for us! I admit I was a nervous wreck thinking any moment you would be caught and hauled away 😳! ❤️🤗
1:05:33 portable confessional box for when the priest pops round 😂
The first house caught my attention quickly! I thought a car had been driven into the inside until I saw the beam split like it was! THAT intrigued me so much. I always need to know WHY...and as I was ready to write this I saw a comment about sink holes. That makes sense...especially with all those puddles of water and 'fill in' stone.
Wow fantastic explore Matt thanks mill😊
I used to live about 1.5 miles from Carriglas manor and met Jeffrey Lefroy a few times and had several walks around the grounds. Sad to see the Manor going to ruin it was beautiful
Hello all. When your camera was up in the air at 7:46, I see two men/people walking at the far-left side behind the houses! You weren't alone Matt. Wow what a waste of money on this property, don't use them to build your home lol.😊
Your right and I saw a dog following them
Loved the video Matt. Amazing place!
It’s look like earthquake damage. The ground could be shifting. Or built on a mine site.
Matt this was incredible, absolutely love seeing through your eyes so much history. Thank you for all your hard work, and time, to bring your viewers such magnificent sites, much love to you for sharing!💞
What an incredible place! I can imaging activities buzzing back in the day!
thank you for a amazing video as always. Tell Andy, we miss him in the videos.
What a waste in money
What a great video I love seeing stables . Great explore!
This was so incredibly fun!!
Carrigglas Manor beautiful I'll have to explore there. Excellent video matt
From Ireland
Fantastic video Matt. Thank you.❤
Those stables are beautiful ❤
Brilliant explore Matt. You are a legend. Keep bringing us these great videos.x
You climbing out of that window nearly finished me off 😂😂😂😂😂
That sounds weirdly sexual 😂😂😂
There was an Airforce town here in the US that was basically 'poisoned ' from lead in the water system. I'm pretty sure it was lead. The town is in Finland, Minnesota, now called Finlandia. It was for sale for 800k at one time.
Great explore matt. Brilliant thanks xx
Some of the comments filled in the history. Still looking forward to the recap on Thursday. Very cool explore!
Hi Matt there is a lot of houses like that in Ireland they started to build them but the Celtic tiger left Ireland and took all the money with them, so building work stopped on all building sites
I really loved this video today, especially the stables, and I don't know how true this is, but one of my mum's friends told me that bird's can't see windows and that's why they try and go for them, as they think it's just a big hole in the side of a building to either get warm or escape from predators!!!! So hope this helps with your little bird attacking the window Mat!!!!
Sarah from Yorkshire. X
Love this explore Matt, esp those stables, carriage yard & exterior is Awesome! Funny watching you get out of the window. Funnybneighbourhood with no roads, & houses just plopped anywhere with no real design to speak of. Stay safe in your travels...Much love from Ontario 🇨🇦
This looks like an edition that was being built and maybe there was problems that arose after the building process was way underway then suddenly stopped due to too many occurring issues that caused a complete STOP BUILD and now those issues are evident maybe.
Thanks for another brilliant explore. 👍👍. I so look forward to your vidio's. You're doing brilliantly. Big hi to Andy too. X
This is a different video which is great to see Matt! It's a shame that the company went out of business due to the 2008 financial crash. I hope someone will save these buildings and do a better job of the ones that are poorly built. As you said, it is a waste.
Wow !!!! That would of been amazing in its time !!!
Great video Matt, more like this please!
What a super location! Awesome video keep going the goodwork
Brilliant Matt thank you
Absolutely amazing Matt! Thank you! At 1st, I thought you stumbled into The Prisoner, the village ! Beautiful!
great explore, although I think I caught a glimpse of your oysters and have now gone blind.
Fabulous video! One of my favorites!!
Wow, What an entry‼️
I joined the video late and came in on the part where Matt's in a piece of heavy construction equipment and just turning it off!!
Then I see it an "Excavator"!!! Now I really don't want to unjointed the premier to go to the start but I must to be able to enjoy the video fully!
Again, what an entrance!! Loved it Matt! Now to enjoy the whole amazing video!! I know it'll be amazing!!!
(Although I'm aware it's this fantastic because of where I came in on!)
🥰❤️❤️❤️
.what an amazing place thank you Matt for doing such a fantastic video stay safe xx
Matt It’s Got An Abandoned Golf Coarse In Scotland …. Great Explore 👍🏻
Hello everyone hope u all good xxx❤❤😊
The company has probably gone bust and just left it all...... Shame really, everywhere needs houses but you see stuff like this..... Sad......
Great exploration, enjoyed that very much, apart from the window giving birth to you. 🤣🤣 Thanks, Matt. Take care, all the best. 🙏👏
What a gorgeous place x
I'm at 31:15 watching this and I really really hope that you get in here! I WANT YOU TO GET IN HERE‼️ I'm just emphasizing what you yourself said!!!😂
🥰❤️❤️❤️
Sorry couldn't make the premier, Matt, but what an interesting area! Your drone footage through the place was really good!
SUCH A WAIST OF MONEY
wow your one hard worker amazing the houses looked like a camp for army practace
Thanks Matt! Love adventuring with you!!
Brillant explore Matt, keep them coming thankyou x
I think that the stables are amazing ! Seeing them is like going back in time to the Victorian era.
You really do go above and beyond to show us these wonderful places. Cheers, Matt ! 😊
I'm sorry but it was so funny watching him getting out of that window! It made me laugh, now i understand why i'm watching this !
It’s definitely funny to watch! A bit embarrassing for me, but I like to show me struggling sometimes… it’s because I broke my back when I was younger! But definitely comedy value
The more i watch your videos, the more i like your your show. Its good, take care.@@FINDERSBEEPERS
matt i like your video's and take care of your back!
Another awesome video! Stay safe.
Another great explore. You always are squeezing out every drop that can be had. Thank you from California.
Could it be subsidence built on landfill maybe ?
Great explore but I really wish you could’ve gotten into the big house. I bet it is grand.
Matt you are definitely my favourite explorer. Lots of love from Sydney Australia xxx
59:04 matts ballbag almost says hi 😂😂🤦♂️
Thank you for a great explore 👍🏼👍🏼
I can imagine that the village could have been hit by a wind storm and they were damaged. The development company could have lost money and they couldn't fix it.
Start it up Matt
Another great episode. Really enjoyed it 😊
Oohhh Matt you are funny 😂
So disappointed by the lack of buttons in this video.... Sorry Matt, I had to 😂😂😂😂 great explore!!
Really interesting explore, crazy that all these houses are half built and just left to decay.
I couldn’t really see, but the rocks very much looked like some kind of coal?
