Don't ever worry about saying negative things about your RV, bikes or anything else! You are very truthful when you have positive or negative to share. It sure helps to hear the good and bad. I am sorry you had to change your plans. You are awesome down to earth people and I wouldn't change that for anything.. So glad your trip was salvaged! Maybe that is a sign that you may look for a more reliable Van, you guys deserve to vacation and have fun! Whatever it is that God has in store for you guys to travel more worry free, just remember everything happens for a reason!! We love you guys and love your fun adventures! Hang in there, I would love to see you guys some how get back with those people soon and go on that air boat and have the time of your life!! 😊
I agree it's frustrating to have to miss something you were really looking forward to, but I've come to realize that maybe it's God's way of telling you maybe you shouldn't this time. I'm sure the chance maybe will come again. I sure hope so because that is fun. Be safe and happy tails ❤Maggie hugs please ❤
I miss a lot of travel options because of equipment malfunctions and my dogs not being allowed on National Park trails and various entertainment venues . When I'm down, my dogs cheer me up. They keep me sane. They love me unconditionally. My air conditioner went out in my car last week. My car got a flat tire this morning. My truck I pull my travel trailer with has been in the repair shop for two months, waiting on parts. Still waiting. I've missed so much. But like your precious Maggie, both my dogs are laying next to me and my cat is on my lap snoozing away. Life is good, in spite of equipment failures. Like you, I just redirect .
Sorry to hear about all your equipment failures, makes ours seem small. I hope you get everything fixed and back on the road soon. It’s really hard for us to go to places that don’t allow dogs either…
I would worry about you if didn't get aggravated when something goes wrong. Y'all always find a way to adapt and overcome. Thanks for taking us along and letting us see how travel really is. Happy tails and safe travels.
Everything you said was so true... you have to take the good with the bad. And always remember, if something can go wrong it will go wrong! Our A/C has been hit or miss as well. Will be having it looked at when we are up in Elkhart. You may want to do some testing on your A/C... like have it on all day when you are parked somewhere and not having Maggie in the van. That way you can see if it is something that happens off an on, and if so, get it fixed before Maggie is in there alone. We went ahead and spent the money on a Waggle system so we could always know what the temp is in the van. Just something to consider.
Life seems to always throw a curve ball every now and then.....especially in RV travel, but those "problems" can be memories too! Keep on traveling, have fun and make new memories!
We have s service dog and can take him almost everywhere with us but we would never trust our AC for hours with him in our van alone. Just too much can go wrong. Our Revel has 650AH of lithium but AC's, inverters and batteries quit without warning too often in all RV's. We've been extremely fortunate with the dependability of our 2022 Revel.
Great video! Sorry you couldn’t go on the boat either friends this time. But glad the Ekko had just a hiccup and she’s moving along. Glad you didn’t need to take it for repairs. Glad Lynn knew how to pick your spirits up. Lynn I hope you had a great Mother’s Day! 🌸🌷🌺hope you have a great week.
We've been motorhoming for 32 years and have had 9 vehicles so we can relate to unexpected problems. Last August we were coming into Anchorage from the East and as we were climbing up the highway we lost power. We had lost five cylinders on the drivers side of our Ford V 10. It took seven days to finally get it fixed. As you guys know there's a whole lotta nothin through the Yukon and Alaska so breaking down in Anchorage was truly a blessing. Keeping a positive attitude is a necessity. We've never actually broken down in all the years of motorhoming, so to break down on a trip when we had no time we had to get back was hard to kick at. Plenty of issues with stuff inside the motorhomes but nothing that could stop a trip. Any way.. I agree with your attitude.
I’m glad that you were able to realize that it wasn’t working before you got on the boat. It could have been a much worse situation if it had stopped working while you were out and had already left Maggie in the van.
My EKKO AC went out too and been replaced under the GE two year warranty. It was discover back in December when the dealer did the Recall 174. They were testing all the main electrical components after doing the recall repair and found the compressor wasn’t drawing enough amps. Some people are replacing their AC with the Houghton RecPro unit that is much quieter and operates with remote.
I did think the Ekko may be a good choice for us as we soon retire and look for a new vehicle for travel….. but with the ongoing Ekko issues I think we’ll have to look at something else. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your travels 😁
We all sometimes have troubles on the road. But you guys make it look fun? I know it is not always like that. We passed this coming down can't wait to go back may stop by. Hey we are here in the keys now. Where are the best places to eat and visit?
We have the EKKO as well. We had the same issue happen. We found the AC fan had to be set on high and work perfectly, if set on low, the AC fan would blow but the compressor would try to start and then shut down. After taking to the service center they replaced the “ soft start” now it works perfectly on either setting. Hope this helps!!
Check the connections for the starter capacitor. If they’re dirty or loose that can cause an intermittent startup issue. Whilst you’re under the A/C’s bonnet check the main power connection it can become loose over time it can also get dirty and not transfer enough power. Lastly check the thermostat connection and battery. Best of luck
Yep, may as well tell the truth, things happen when you least expect it. Just have to deal with it. Better it happen in the states this time, and at least it ended up ok. That's another pretty park, remember it well. Hang in there. 🙂👍
What year is that Ekko? Does Lynn feel comfortable driving it and do you have a rear view camera on it to see other cars behind you when you’re driving? Thanks and Good Luck!!❤
Thank you for the kind words. Yes, the Revel was much more reliable. It still had issues but no recalls and major issues. IMHO the Ekko will get there too and may even be close as 2024s for the road. But adding the complexity of changing the build to be Sprinter too will likely keep that from happening for a year or two.
I appreciate you answering, been looking for a while now. Unfortunately I was looking pre-covid but wasn’t ready to pull the trigger at that point and unfortunately prices exploded. I loved the revel then seen the EKKO and love the extra space but I’m so apprehensive with all the issues. I looked recently at the Sprekko and absolutely love the layout etc. The two downsides for me is the price and first year model. I was thinking a used revel for now and experience the RV life and hopefully me and the wife will love it then upgrade to probably the sprekko for the extra room! Enjoy and be safe!
I just came across your channel and you both are just DARLING! I’m just curious though, why do you no longer have the Travato “K”? Any issues? That is the RV my husband and I decided on purchasing. I hope you didn’t do away with it because of issues! 🙏
Zero issues. We wanted something more capable off road. Switched to a Revel and then after 2 years more to an Ekko. Glad you found us. All the bugs and kinks are long gone on the Travato. Should be a fun van.
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle I’m looking for a van that we can park anywhere and go everywhere! I really didn’t like the floor plan on the Revel and it looks too rugged for my liking. I like the Ekko but it is too big for what we want to do with an RV. We recently relocated to Florida and I’m now retired!! 👏 Now it is RV time!!
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle Oh really?! I was actually looking at the Coachmen Nova 20RB as well. It has the same floor plan as the Travato 59K but I’m leery about the Coachman brand. Again, this is going to be our first RV purchase. I want to be sure that we’re making a good choice. May I ask what dealership do you deal with?
@@monicae67From folks we've met Coachman has a much better track record with quality than Winnebago. Maybe a year or two behind on some innovations in the past but much better made, designed and built. We love the folks at Adventure Motorhomes of Greer, SC. Tell Kelly we sent you and she will make sure you are happy. Great dealer.
We bought a Promaster and had it custom built to suit us. Three years full time living 96,000 miles and the RV is still solid. That said we’re in the shop getting a new oil cooler in the ganging so yes, some days have setbacks! I am really sorry for your troubles but you know enough after all this time to get a camper built properly as you want it.
Same thing happened to my AC a couple weeks ago. Found a post in the Facebook Ekko Owners group that described how from time to time the soft start needs to recalibrate. Like you I was fearful a big repair was in my future. Then after 20 min of starting and stopping and not sounding nice it picked up and all has been well since.
I know that buying it used you were hoping that the 1st year Ekko issues had already been fixed. So disappointing when you spend that much money. There is a channel with a couple who have a Thor Tellaro Class B that has had so many problems that they named it Mr.Lemon. And they made up a little sign for the wall like the industrial workplace injury signs that says "...(...) days since last incident ". As someone else pointed out, it's good that you discovered the problem before you went out and that it didn't fail while you were boating - leaving Maggie alone in a hot van. So a silver lining…
We alway try to look at the silver lining too, it just wasn’t meant to be for some reason. We checked out the channel with Mr Lemon and really liked them, thanks for the recommendation on someone new to watch.
As many problems as you’ve had with that Ekko I just sit and wonder if any of these problems are being dealt with on the new Ekkos before they get to the showroom that would seriously upset me
I watch a lot of RUclips RV’ers and the thing that stands out the most is every RV is a grabber of cash or aggravation. It seems you have to spend over 250 thousand dollars to get a good class B or B+
It's so sad to watch such nice people have such bad luck. Maybe next time you purchase a RV you look into a private RV builder like Aeonfv. They build Ekko like rvs of good quality. Good luck. 💙❤💙❤🙏🙏🙏
That's what I was thinking. Rather than cancel all your plans and head home, it might be worth it to try and find a mobile RV tech to take a look b/c the fix could be something simple enough that you could carry on with your trip. I've had pretty good luck finding mobile RV techs in various locations that were able to come out same day or next day, but in some areas / times of year it does take longer. Still, if it saves the rest of the trip, the small wait might be worth it!
Hmmm... will look into that... but since then no isssues at all. That's what's frustrating. When something happens... then kind of goes away and doesn't happen again... you know it's going to but you can't research to fix it and keep it from popping up again.
Good dose of reality to RVers and Wannabees- s$!t happens especially in a RV so you have to role with the punches and look on the positive. You guys have a great attitude. But it is surprising that a RV manufacturer with so many years of experience and high prices cant make a trouble free RV.
We keep having those doses of reality… but the more you travel the more problems you could have. Just showing the bad and the good. Even as frustrating as it is we still love the adventure.
You sure didn't seem to excited about that boat ride. I'm thinking that after you saw that airboat, you didn't want any part of it and had to come up with an excuse to bail
Our excitement didn't come through. We cut most of the conversations due to road noise and it made the video overly long. We did have to have a serious conversation about not saying yes because a 2-3 hour fun outing while on a 6-7 hr drive... well at our age that would have been difficult. But we chose to say yes and we were excited. But issues cause stress and that sucks the joy out of fun times.
