A sweet revenge, if they stick it out, would be for mother and child to bond, making it their own special day, with gifts, celebrations and outings, leaving Daddy totally out of the loop.

I don't care if OP's husband doesn't really care about holidays. Compromise and doing little things to make your partner happy are key components of a healthy relationship.

The wife already significantly reduced her expectations down to once a year. I used to celebrate our birthdays with a previous partner because being Christian and Jewish we had different family Holidays. It was some work, not just a wish to not be bothered.

For story 1 so... OP doesn't have to plan anything for Father's day, right?
He's acting as if it's a random anniversary that OP made up when we have constant reminders in the form of advertising for gifts and activities for mother's day.

Former waitress here. We were actually trained to take the drink orders and then ask, are you ready to order? If they weren't ready, it was okay, but we were told to ask and take their order as soon as possible because the restaurant gets more money and waitresses get more tips the quicker you get people fed and out the door so you have space for more customers.

The husband belongs in the bin that’s total bullcrap that he couldn’t grab her something for Mother’s Day tf. like bro it’s a damn thermos it wasn’t like she was asking him to put together a gift basket or take her out to dinner at an expensive restaurant for the day. he honestly didn’t try at all he could’ve gotten her a card at least, said happy Mother’s Day, and possibly taken her out to a movie or something. but no we have ourselves a manchild who sees his own wife as nothing but a baby maker and will never change.

  • @shadowboxer1

0:05: OP's husband couldn't get himself to get his wife anything for Mothers Day, despite having all this time do get her something. He is clearly self-centered and self-absorbed, and having a kid in the picture will make it difficult for OP to kick him to the curb.
3:35: OP and his wife need to come to some sort of compromise regarding their daughter's name (they're all nice names, IMO).
5:16: While I see his wife's point of view on this, I don't think OP was wrong to order his food right away, even if it meant bending the restaurant's protocol.

  • @AnimatronicClover

I mean...there's nothing wrong with ordering food at the same time as the drinks as some places do that but it's very rude to say it's manipulative. Places have their own way of doing things...

5:04 For the second one: basically she chose the name for the first child and he agreed. Now she wants to choose the name for the second and is getting mad he won't just agree. He needs to find names and they can go down his list until there's one she likes, instead of this strong arming that she's trying to do.

Last story; there's nothing to stop the cafe/restaurant from bringing out the drinks first. Right? And back of house can get on with their food, in the order it arrived in, as per usual? It would make everything more efficient for both waiters/chefs, surely? Anyone with more time, and wanting an additional drink of whatever, would always order another one anyway, I'd have thought.

  • @indiebosse8419

the last one: the wife makes no sense especially if she’s also a waitress because a quick customer is better because it means you can reseat your table even sooner and make more tips, so as a server, i’d rather have a guest who’s ready to be in and out quickly.

I'm a waitress too, and for that last story, the guy is not in the wrong. The restaurant I work at has the same policy (take the drink order first, and only take the food order after the drinks are delivered). The wife saying that the husband is arrogant and jumping ahead of others is untrue. At the restaurant I work at, orders do not go into the kitchen until the food order is taken. So even if someone orders drinks and needs a few minutes to decide, the drink order does not determine a placeholder for when the order gets made. The only reason we are supposed to take the drink order first is to give the customers a chance to look at the menu (and occasionally to ensure the waitresses - i.e. me - did not struggle trying to carry several things to the table at the same time). I have been asked multiple times before by regulars (or by people who were waiting for a few minutes before I got a chance to get to them) if they can order the food at the same time as the drinks. I always respond with "absolutely, no problem" and take both orders. It doesn't change anything about my job. It just means that I have to remember what drinks the table ordered before I put the order in the window. So I would say that the husband is absolutely not in the wrong if they were both ready to order and he was on a time crunch.

It's his wife's first mothers day! Forget a thermos and a family activity I'd go all out for that. I bet he does actually care about holidays but only the ones about him. If OP treated him like this on Fathers day or his own birthday he would have thrown a tantrum.

  • @kurisuchiinu1206

I'm expressive with events like Mother's Day, birthday, or whatever day it is. But ever since I've been used and abused... I've seen them differently now. I somehow stopped celebrating them especially if it isn't reciprocated when I have a special day. The hubby may be just not expressive with the important day for his wife (I wonder if he's also like that on her birthday?) or just doesn't see that kind of day a special day (I know this because I have immediate family members who doesn't give an F to those special dates) or just doesn't care at all. He probably is a narcissist (just a speculation since she did ask him weeks before and he probably nodded it but did not plan on doing anything about it, narcs are like this, it's called future faking).

1st story - excuses, and gaslighting. This marriage is not going to last unless she just succumbs to his abuse forever. Ugh!
2nd story - wife is dying on the wrong hill. They met on a name for the son, so why suddenly not for the daughter? Odd.
3rd was just silly. And he was right. It is absolutely a business strategy, but ordering all at once turns the table faster, so whatever!

How are you doing sweetie? How are you feeling? I hope just great!! In the very first story, he is a straight us lloser and a disapppointment as a father too. Of course he suppose to help her watch and take care of the baby because he's the dad, and he should've already had gotten her Mother's Days gifts already. When Mother's Day was approaching I already had my mom's gifts prepared for her in April. She should just take their baby and go stay somwwhere else for the time being because he is straight up tripping. In the second story, she is the one who's going to have the baby so it is all up to her on what she wants to name their baby girl, and he has absolutely no say at all. By the way, I love the both of those names Amelia and Emilia!! In the third story, I am fully on his side right here because that doesn't make any sense at all plus they also do the exact same thing at night clubs too so that they can get more money out of their customers. I love you my friend!! Have a great day!! Stay safe!!
