Presenter asked all the relevant questions. Dicing around critical questions, the criminal finally revealed his calculations showed there was a greater profit margin in poaching than farming. So he went for the later. Most Zimbabweans are very good at reasoning even without any form of education. You learn from others and your community. To claim ignorance doesn't negate the fact he knew he was doing wrong and that these animals were protected. He just didn't stop to question his actions. Hence the question 'was it really worth it', which sums up the reason he went into poaching instead of farming. GREED
The poacher was very cunning in giving out numbers though he slipped on giving out the actual weights dzenyanga,he was very economical with his information for that is what they rehearse evrytime wherever they are in their line of poaching business.yes they get conned by middlemen but they are paid is very lucrative and so enticing to risk it all.i got a neighbour we grew up in th village who died on the bullet of the Game Warden and thats when it dawned on me kuti team iri rinowana mari kwayo.the had built himslf and his mother nice houses in the village within a very short space of time,thats when i also realised his cunningness.like now this poacher will die like a MARINES or SEAL member who will never disclose any info to whosoever whatever the circumstance,he is sitting there just lying,thats a very seasoned poacher sitting there giving the camera and interviewer as well as us viewers a fake repented soul and body.

When there are middle men involved profits are always low and it’s usually the individual who sits at the bottom of the pyramid who makes the least amount of money but bears the greatest risk. Often time those at the top never get caught because they know how to layer their crimes and distance themselves.

Around 2014, remember a cyanide case where over 400 jumbos were poisoned and they lacked tusks? That's one heck of an operation that if traced, it's organized crimes linked to the big boys 😢😢

I think your questioning techniques were self defeating and prejudiced or already you assumed a lot about the convict or his crime. At first you were dismissive about the financial gains of poaching to the prisoner, and then you later realized oh the dude was actually making a bit of a buck from it. Is it when you finally called for the calculator? Also would you think a poacher in the jungle will be thinking about the kids and wife he left home whilst doing his heinous activities. In that moment he is like an animal too. These are dangerous criminals at work.
I mean there is a lot which can be learned from such interviews if the questioning can be improved. Investigative journalism ain't a joke 😅.
Give us a better questioning strategy next time. This one was a bit shocking to me whilst I was watching it.

The most important part is what have you learnt from all this? Remember he was so desperate for money and that costed him. That one thousand and something was it worth? but at the end of the day he is the one suffering the most more than his friends. He was calculating so that when he go back to his cell he will ask himself questions and he will answer himself and hope he learns his lessons. Remember dude was not scared to kill both humans and animals

Actually they ate a well balanced diet as they also do a lot of farming and looking after animals....which they then eat and also send to hospital and government boarding schools.... no junk food as it is expensive🙏
