  • This song was adapted by Julian More in 1965 from the original French title "Dans Le Monde Entier", which was composed and written by Francoise Hardy. In 1965 the song reached the Top 20 in the United Kingdom and remained there for 15 weeks. In the English-speaking world, this may be Hardy's best-known song.
This is the French version and the lyrics:-
    • Video

Along with Marianne Faithful, this beautiful songstress Francoise Hardy filled the airwaves of my youth. Such a beautiful clear voice. RIP Francoise .

I love this song and remember it well from my youth in the 1960s. Francoise Hardy's voice has the perfect haunting quality to match the anguished message of a lost love. It has special significance for me because recently I was parted from someone I loved dearly. It gives me great comfort to listen to it knowing that I am not alone in this world, longing to meet that particular person again.

Cool! 😊 Françoise is one of the best singers and songwriters of her generation. A true icon, less known than it should be because her songs are mostly in French...
      Best regards from Brazil 🇧🇷✌️

    All over the world
    People must meet and part
    There's someone like me
Feeling a pain in their heart
    Some may meet again
    Under that same bright star
    If maybe some night
    You come back from afar
    Who cares if tonight
I don't know where you are
Are you thinking of me now
    Missing having me around
    If you have forgotten me
My world will come tumbling down
    All over the world
    Others are sad tonight
    There's someone like me
    Watching the sun's fading light
    All over the sky
There is the same warm glow
    Here under that star
    I'm wanting you to know
    Wherever you are
That I still love you so

If you had to list six absolute favourites, what would they be? I saw Francoise Hardy in concert in 1967, and have been a fan from (even before) that time. I am in the UK - hence the spelling variation.

Beautiful song !!! Didn't hear it for many years , but sounds as lovely now as it did then ! Her voice is pure magic , but although not so obvious , I think the use of the male voice in the background also adds a lot to it ! Have to admit that I didn't notice that back in 1965 ! Thanks for sharing it !

Hi Dave, so glad you like the song. I do, too, very much! I'm a great fan of Hardy's. You're right - the background male voice enhances the song!

Thanks for sharing this sweet song ny Francoise Hardy and wgere she's singing in English. Since you know I'm a woman of words and poetry the the lyrichs are about 50% of how it touches your heart and experience the beauty of a song. Thanks dear Lisa for putting your effort at finding this melancholy song for me to interpret and understand.
