Here in the UK my agronomist, a bright young thing a few years out of uni, visits our farm less than 6 times a year. He has a posh 4x4 with a trailer carrying a quad on the back so he can travel around as speedily as possible. He has many thousands of acres to cover so he can't hang about and soon he'll be using a drone.I doubt he has ever reached some parts of our farm and overall spends mere minutes per year per hectare. During the growing season, I'm 64 & have farmed this farm my whole life, I walk my farm daily but because I don't have a BASIS qualification I'm not legally able to buy and apply pesticides - I'm not considered competent by the farm assurance system. How has this come about? It's because modern agriculture is a financial model using technology to produce commodities to turn into increasingly over processed food like substances that are damaging human health outcomes. It's forgotten that growing is a biological function in a biological ecosystem producing biologically active foodstuffs to feed the biology in humans. That's what agronomists need to focus on otherwise they are just chemical product salesmen
