- In 2007, Rich Briggs and students built the Sasukenei wood kiln from the plans in the book "Japanese Wood-Fired Ceramics" by Kusakabe Masakazu and Marc Lancet. This video chronicles the construction process.
Fantastic work and great documentation!
This video helped me so much, thank you. I know have a better understanding of kiln building!
Thank you for posting. Love how each student took a section to video summarize. Thank you also for th3 book references and philos
Amazing ! Great job
Looks great! However, I do have one negative observation: Constructing a wood (or gas or oil, etc) burning kiln under and in such close proximity to a wood structure seems to be inherently unsafe as a fire hazard.
All that effort for what? Trying to pass off some misunderstood Japanese aesthetic as art? Telling the kids that mistakes are actually wonderful examples of serendipity? Ooo, that ash created such wonderful colors and effects. Not.
Contrived accidental effects
All that writing for what ,to show your misunderstanding .Like all things it depends on what you make of it .
step off your high horse ya loser - man your life must suck.
