One of my favorite pieces of hardware is the Neve 542 Tape Emulator module. It sounds better and is more functional than any plugin that tries to copy the feel and sound of tape. Elysia makes some really high quality great gear. I have their Mpressor and it is my favorite VCA when I want transparent colour although it has a nuke option. The feel of their gear reeks of quality craftsmanship.
Thank you Warren for visiting our factory! It was absolutely marvelous to show you and everyone watching how we manufacture our gear and the team behind elysia. 😊
Having worked in manufacturing for 28 years, I must say that Elysia has taken manufacturing to another level with audio gear for the studio/ mastering. Superb tour, well done!!!
The morning jacket and vest... you leveled up the English-ness for this in a good way. Probably to highlight the German engineering, also in a good way.
I LOVE that they make their own parts. When I used my Elysia EQ, its' awesome knowing the buttons and knobs I use are straight from them. They love what they do, one component at a time and it makes using the equipment that much more enjoyable. They're also simply some of the best pieces in my rack.
I just purchased purchased a used Elysia Xfilter EQ. It's being shipped soon. I'm using it to shape the sound of my audio system. I hope that it will be an effective tool for me.
I have a few pieces of Elysia gear, and this video just makes me want more haha! Absolutely amazing ingenuity and dedication to craftsmanship. You can definitely feel his passion for even the smallest aspect of the manufacturing process. Truly fascinating to watch.
Simply wow! So glad that you filmed the tour at the Elysia Office and Factory Warren! This facility is really next level! I’ve used the Elysia mpressor and It was great sounding and excellent production but I never knew that it was built to this layer of detail! Simply amazing! German engineering and craftsmanship as its finest moment!
Their sophistication, design (best knobs), their sound (crystal clear cut and/gritty), clipping on the Alpha! It’s clear to me that Elysia is the sound of the modern musician. Always impressed!
Excellen video. So interesting to see how Elysia's production p4ocesses evolves. Their gear is not cheap, but when you see how much attention to detail and thought goes into the whole process, every dime is worth it. I have one of each of most of their products bar the 500 gear and the big Alpha. The quality is 2nd to none!.
First off, I can't gloss over the drip of your garb!...... who's your stylist?, or are you just that cool 😏😎 Elysia!.......this is olympic standard levels of attention to detail and precision!. No detail is overlooked, right down to the near micro level !. All in house manufacturing is truly a special niche market. I'm not shocked by the price at all. You get what you pay for, perfection!. And you gotta love the family aspect of the business. It's way above my tax bracket but I appreciate that gear like this exists. The closest I can get is the Alpha and Mpressor plugins, which I like a LOT! 😉👍 l
Wow, very sophisticated and so organized! This video really gave me a lot of insight, definitely an understanding why Elysia is top of the line. Thank you PLAP.
What a nice guy ruben is, and i love his passion, what a cool guy....thanks warren, i love so much this factory tours......hope you can sneak one day to neve and ssl over
I can say that you guys don't charge enough for your designs! Wow! The detail of your products is Insane! I have never owned a Hardware box from them, they seem a little more Mastering Grade, but I love their sound and layout! Nice Tour, and a great team there! Cheers...
I am awesomely impressed by your wonderful company! Your neat engineering and high quality standards exceed everything I have seen until now. Your precision mechanics, bespoke electronics, state-of-the-art production process, doing almost everything in-house to foster freedom, your stock management, your one-piece-flow, etc. A perfection of Lead By Example if you ask me. If I ever can assist you or contribute to your company in any way or form, just let me know.
I have had the privilege of visiting a number of high-end audio manufacturers though my career and clearly Elysia ranks up there with some of the best. I saw many similarities in manufacturing approach. Through the first part I was concerned about how individual electronic component testing was done until they got to the part about matching potentiometers. Hopefully this extends to critical signal path components as this is very important to maintain end-to-end channel balance. Each channel needs to be exactly the same, and each produced box is exactly the same as the next. You want to be able to buy another unit a few years later and have them (after run in) sound the same. In some factories they have a reference piece that sits beside the assembler. The computerized instructions at Elysia were much the same with a modern twist. In the early part of my career I worked in manufacturing and worked to streamline workflow issues. This critical and is often the difference between business success or not. It is also important to not stop once you solve an issue as there is always a better way and the goal posts are a moving target at all times. Not much different in audio engineering word. Never stop learning!
Thanks and yes - maintaining our high quality standards is very important to us! We always make sure to get high quality electrical components from the same manufacturers and suppliers. This way we can guarantee that over the years our products remain the same audiophile sound quality :)
This is an epic company. That alpha compressor is just a marvel. For anyone I advise to test one if you can, or if you can, just to have a taste with the plugin.
Could you ask Ruben if he could design a small mixing console (8 channels with the possibility to add another 8 channels with an expander unit later)? Something like a SSL Big Six or SSL X-Desk (But with built-in preamps, enough aux sends and insert points on all channels)? With that build quality they provide for their products it would sell like hell.
The cube bodies look to be extruded aluminum rather than a casting. So that shape is pressed through a die at incredible pressures and then a mill cuts them to length. (I deal with those sorts of materials often.)
incredible attention to detail. is there any other analog hardware company manufacturing to this level in house?! amazing stuff and really interesting to see the work flow.
If one day I watch one of your videos and it doesn't start with, "I hope you're doing marvelously well", I'm gonna be like who is this imposter that replaced Warren?!?!
What I like about Elysia, you can repair them very well. They use trough hole components. So if one goes down (very rare) you can repair them very quick. And they are top of the line.
What I don't like about Elysia is that they use through-hole components. They are bigger and pick up more electrican noise. Besides, soldering SMDs is really not a problem.
Fantastic studio and tour, excellent job as always Warren. The attention to detail is exceptional. Now I want some of these hardware. It may be nice to do the link between these hardware's to the plugins. I have all their plugins via the Plugin-Alliance platform. And I was waiting to see the Phil's Cascade hardware. I was also wondering where the name Elysia came from.
I absolutely dig Elysia. German craftsmanship and manufacturing in house instead of China. Nothing against that country, but I prefer audio gear from Europe or the USA.
