The ‘life seat’ part was intended to free the justices from political considerations -once they are confirmed by the Senate. The political part is all in the nomination/confirmation process; once over that hump, politics wasn’t supposed to influence the justices’ behavior.
In addition, the Founding Fathers could not have foreseen people living into their 70's, 80's or 90's. What was life expectancy back then 40's, 50's, maybe 60's.?

I believe only the Congress can approve and remove them. Republicans are not going to remove their corrupt justices. It takes a majority vote to remove them. Republicans hold the majority in both houses of Congress. They vote against anything that would stop the failure of our democracy. They want America to fail. That's the point.
