yeah but it eats so much time since its all random. i feel like the plates shouldf only spawn in that big area where the teleporter often is, then it would be a more reliable option
Tip: As the engineer, try to build speed, attack speed, and armor piercing bullets. Late game this is extremely useful, since you put both turrets down (hopefully you have a bustling fungus) put a shield on them to protect them, and start kiting. The turrets will quickly kill the both, whilst you are safe running away. This is helpful in monsoon difficulty when anything can one shot you.
Thanks for clarifying the difference at the beginning, was noticing lots of videos talking about "builds" and for the moment that technically is not true at the moment, somewhat helpful for more conceptual thinking about the game and what to do.
this is what i call a good video. Not only do you read most comments, but you elaborate and mention suggestions. gonna watch you for a long time. def sub to this man
It's also important to know that the engineers mines can be deployed while he is charging up his basic attack. Really good if you are trying to ass blast a big enemy but a small one charges in your face before you get the full charge off. Also great during boss fights for pumping out damage when your busy charging up your grenades. Also, the mines can be placed on the body of enemies directly and they will stick on until they explode. Meaning that even if they are not on the ground, you can still kill flying enemies with them . You do not need to place them on the ground to wait for enemies to stand on them.
I find when vsing a worm, when I stack my turrets, I also stack all my mines on them, so when the worms come to chow down on my boys they get a bang of mines. Maybe common sense but I feel clever whenever I do it.
Bandolier, bandolier is extremely important on engineer. Unless youre having a god run, your turrets will die at inconvenient times or you will have to abandon a shield you just placed at a bad time. Bandolier will ensure you always have more turrets to place and more shield to put down. You dont have to stack it, he doesnt need more than one, but he practically needs one.
Tbh I'm brand new to the game and love the engineer. I played Engineer in Tf2 for hundreds of hours so he felt like a character made for me. Also, I typically go attackspeed into bleed/crit builds when possible. Will incorporate the lightning from Ukelele and Tesla coil for additional dmg. Seems like that's what I was missing in my runs for AOE with turrets. Ty for the guide
I think I'll follow you for a long time my dude. I already feel at home in RoR2 and its community. A secret zones guide could be nice as the Wiki isn't complete yet. You'll definitely get good clicks out of it. PS: I thought you'd be streaming as you released the video and I was sad to see you offline. Releasing a video can make for a nice Streaming Announcement ya know! Followed and probably subbed soon too.
From what I've seen a good thing to do with stationary mines is to put them by your turrets so that way if any high health melee enemies get next to them they just blow up the mines and usually die from it. This is especially good if you have focus crystal as they do even more damage because they are in range of the turret's focus effect
Had a run with 4 Gesture of the drowns, one soulbound catalyst, a capacitor and multiple fuel cells. I literally kill everything I looked at, and when I picked up a Happiest Mask it looked like I was raising the dead.
One very important thing regarding the Engineer's synergy with the Backup Magazine: You might have more charges of the skill but BMs don't change the number of mines you can have active at a time. This means, with 2 BMs, you can spam mines 12 times instead of 10, as expected. But the last two mines that are placed still detonate the first two, like they would if you just waited them to recharge. This might not be important when the player just throws them into a crowd, but it still turns BMs for Engineer even more useless, since you can't just throw more mines out there. I don't know if the devs fixed this with the latest patch, but I haven't seen anything in the patch notes about this.
Just adding this as a random comment or tip. I figured out an easy way to get the [redacted] achievement. Play Prismatic Trials with the random map modifier and occasionally you will get the snow level as your first map. You then can hunt for the timer chest at your leisure. Enjoy!
Great vid :) Engineer feels great in coop, the bubble can help your mates though as you stated, it won't save you from all threats, be it stone spike popping you up or some aoe going through. One key thing is that fungus benefit the engineer like no other class, making your turrets constant healing zones, the radius and values get insane; only burst dps exceeding your max health could be problematic (also never pick up the beetle transferring hp to shield: you get 1 healing as a result with fungus :p ). Play with friends and ask them to ping any fungus they find, I think the best way to play coop is playing classes that don't require the same items, this way you get the best loot allocation by sharing instead of wasting its value by picking it up indiscriminately. would you do a video over the best group compositions by the way?
1:20 I love it when games have simplistic designs but have complexity in it's mechanics. I highly recommend a video called "TF2's Diverse Complexities" made by fUNKE that covers this topic in a game that I think is the best at "simplistic complexities"
This video is so accurate i basically mained engineer thinking i was a god at the game and when i started playing other characters i quickly realized he’s the cakewalk character.
Sam Lawrenz The only thing that really crushes his turrets are imp overlords but if you progress quick enough your turrets should be killing him before he even gets the chance
Even though backup mags increase the number of total mines you can throw only 10 can still be placed without detonating, as soon as an 11th is placed the oldest mine will explode. Still a decent item as you will rarely have all 10 mines on the ground.
Primordial cube on Engineer is pretty strong to just bunch up the mobs and hold them back while you lay into them. Amazing for trash control during bosses
As an engineer main I disagree with the "You shouldn't stay in the engineer shield" statement. If you have good aoe clear like wilothewisp or gasoline, the shield can be an effective way to bait in enemies to mass-chain them while blocking projectails at the same time. Great job on the video though!
I didn't quite mean "don't ever stay inside of the shield", rather, don't rely on it in all situations bc it will kinda trick you into feeling like you have to stay inside like some weird psychology thing - and as the later the game goes on, the more dangerous staying in that small area becomes
When you're 1hr+ in a Monsoon run you really don't wanna be staying inside that tiny shield permanently. There's way too many enemies and attacks that ignore the shield entirely and pretending you're invincible inside of it just gets you killed by a Blazing Imp that spawns behind you or a Stone Titan Fist that you can't see very well due to particle effects. You're better off placing it on your two turrets and kiting around in a circle. Also by your logic, placing down your turrets and throwing the shield on them also baits enemies together in much the same way, and doesn't require you to be right in the center of dozens of scary mobs with Blazing and Electrocuting.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned it or not but Dio's best friend is extremely good on engineer also because it let's your turrets revive once without consuming the item
Idk if it existed at the time of this video but if anyone doesn’t know about the afk void strat here it is. Play with command, swarms, and sacrifice. Stage 2 hit the newt shrine and finish portal. Go to blue shop and trade your greens for an opinion. Now go to the void and build your supply of fungus and mixed damage until you get to the last vent. On the last vent set up outside the bubble and just afk in between your turrets. Leave the game on as long as you feel like it and come back later to see the literal hundreds of items waiting for you. Easy god run strat
2:30 I certainly do agree, Engi is vastly different due to his turrets. Though personally I find him to be my favorite character because of how he plays. I love running a squad of friendlies over playing alone, so something like Engi is right up my alley. But yes I will agree do not start as Engineer or you may become a bit too reliant on guaranteed damage aka turrets.
stacking atleast 40% crit and the crit masks makes your turrets go nuts because they are consistently on max stacks. Having atleast 7 tougher times is essential on every class to get to endgame and your turrets become unkillable if they have a few mushrooms to counter heal the damage. Especially with the 2nd life which procs for every new turret you place.
yea, I definitely should have mentioned that the turrets' sustained fire is awesome for stacking effects like predatory instincts also neglected to mention the 2nd life... oops
Engineer used to get 10 mines? I only get 4. Also could you update the guide to include his alternate to the shield? The laser rockets that lock on, are they a better option or worse? What about the mobile turrets for a more mobile engineer? Should they be used together or are the rockets good with stationary turrets too? Is the shield preferred for stationary turrets, or are the homing rockets better since you're moving around anyway? I can't find any guides that take any of this into account! They're all outdated!
One item that's insane on engineer that I get a lot early game is the tri-tip dagger, and after getting just 3-4, the bleed stacks with the 2 turrets and you, so bosses melt like butter when you get it, and since the chance goes up by 15% per item, you only need 4 to non-stop cause bleed
I had a run a couple of days ago where I managed to deal 1mil damage and instagib a boss at almost 3 hours in on Bustling boy, I have a video of the highlight uploaded to my channel, this character is absolutely insane. Great vid
Nothing like having little disciple, nuhakus or whatever it's name and bustling fungus, while playing as rex and have an engineering buddy. You literally just run in circle as the wisp/skull missiles just annihilate the world. At one point at stage 30 it was peaceful. Then again I had an army of cerimonial daggers and a meme worthy amount of fireworks. S**t was legendary.
Interesting commentary on the engineer play style, I like this format much more. You should do a 100% achievement guide, I’m having trouble with the elite monsoon boss spawning
Bandolier is essential for turret uptime, you're going to be running around avoiding stuff anyway during bossfights when your turrets are most in danger of being destroyed.
Wax Quail and H3AD-STs are the engineer's escapes. Also, Old War Stealth Kit can keep both you and your turrets alive by proccing invisibility when you take a lot of damage. Mines can also be placed on allies, including the Beetle Guard. And they can be manually exploded by shooting at them. Lastly, turret kills don't count towards the engineer. Because of this, he is a terrible choice to try and get the Deicide achievement (kill an Elite boss on Monsoon) because the turrets will killsteal from you (ungrateful b*stards).
how do you deal with turrets getting insta killed in mid/late monsoon runs? Demon bosses are especially difficult with this. The long recharge time on turrets has left me running around turretless for decent lengths of time.
Just an FYI you can place more than 2 turrets if you have Dio's Best Friend still active. cause your turrets "die" activating the bear when you spawn a new one.
i managed to get more than 2 turrets thanks to Dio's best Friend. He applies everytime for every new turret which means the turret doesnt count as one of your turrets once it died the first time. And after it died the first time i was able to place another one down. So i had up tp 3 to 4 at the same time. x.x Maybe my game bugged idk, but it was just something i was able to do somehow
Thanks. I use the turrets as bait and shield them. Soldier syringe is pretty good. Unfortunately, didn't have much in terms of aoe damage items. But soldier syringes, leeching seeds, and stacks of ukelele did pretty good. Turrets sometimes get stuck, hope they fixed that bug. Engineer is easy game.
with 2 engies you can have a bubble with as little downtime as it takes for the bubble to cast, combo this with both players having fungus and whew boy you got a run
I could be wrong but i think the backup mags are more useless than what people think because even though you get another mine charge you can still only have 10 on the field at one time. I tried some shenanigans with like 20 mags+cube for one shotting. It did not work... they kept blowing up.
You can place the mines directly onto enemies, and they will stick on and immediately explode. If you do this to a boss with 20 mags, and explode 20 mines on him... well you can probably now imagine how devastatingly good that damage would be.
i got 12 fungi, 2 of the 100%+ healing item, and one item that spawned skulls if i healed myself or the turrets and tesla coil this run took 3 hours it felt so goooood and i felt that "dont play him in the first 10 runs strange" because you need 30 teleporters to unlock him and i doupt new player achive 30 teleporter in there first 10 runs
Hey my dude I am a huge fan, I watched all your videos to learn the game and you helped me get to a point where I feel like I've almost mastered it! I'm on eclipse 5.....so close. But I have a question. I feel like the bubble is what makes engineer both different in playstyle from the others and easier, right? I completely agree. My question to you is... why don't you use the rockets? Dude I literally haven't used bubble since I unlocked rockets. It's soooooooo much better. Completely changes his game style dude it's amazing. It's way more aggressive, and without bubble, you actually have to incorporate strategy into your turret placement. Plus....ICBM's are soooooooooooo fu...dang good, you shoot triple, hardlight gives you 2 more charges, the charges recharge super fast, and level 1 wisps are 100% 1 shot lock-on each rocket. You have to try it, and I would love your opinion cause seriously I feel like bubble is what holds engi players back. Rockets are what make him godly! Ok I totally revise my above question after watching your eclipse 8 win and using rockets, and it made me very happy instantly to see that was your build. I feel like instead, if you have time and definitely tell me to shoo, would you be down to do a revised engineer character guide, and showcase rockets as the way to truly master engi? cause i absolutely agree, the bubble is what holds him back in my opinion.
@@Woolie Yay! That makes me super happy! Thanks for making super fun content to watch! This game is my favorite! Hey I have a question real fast for you, what do you think of his mobile turrets? I keep trying to give them an honest go, and each time I never seem to get very far!
Everytime I play i always get beetle queen for every boss for the first 2 phases and i always die to the jellyfish dudes in the second phase because they just do to much damage to me, i dont really know what to do about that due to them being so fast
I prefer the bubble than the missiles. Maybe I'm just using it wrongly, but I find the missiles being less relevant in late game. Turrets are my main dps, I'll deploy my bubble on them to prevent overloading mobs from one shotting them. It drastically improves my turrets' survivability.
please do make a guide on all the hidden items. im just starting to play this game and your videos have helped me so much. please make more, thank you.
Super fun bug with dios best friend. is if as one of your turrets die you can place a new one, then the original will spawn back giving you 3 turrets. It a very hard thing to time so ive only successfully does this to +2 turrets. Not sure the extent of this bug. Reason for this is the game sees the turret die so placing a new one will not destroy the one respawning.
Hey Woolie, thanks for the video, its been of great help. Nowadays there is this turret that can walk, whats your opinion on it? Im a beginner but to me it seems a pretty bad option compared to the stationary ones. It can be very funny to stack movespeed and feathers and such on them though :D Let me know!
In my experience after the turrets gain the infusion benefits they start building it up on you I don’t know if it’s a big or just something else I’m not aware of killing them but that’s what seems to happen with me
Once i was doing a run with engineer but i got the boss item from the jelly boss it was horrifiedly overpowered because my turrets were now the most dangerous thing to attack because if the turrets get to low they become a bomb and kills most monsters near me in seconds once they get low and scince all the foes were dead it allowed to heal and do it again and again and i gave up on putting the barrier on the drone because it would be better if it got hit.
the nkuhanas opinion and bustling fungus synergy got me thinking: Does nopinion activate your unhit procs? Cause if so then i wanna see mul-t with transcendence, a leech seed and nopinion with like 20 stickybombs. that would be cool
I just started playing him my first run i got all your attacks are AOE and also black whole with 2 extra charges with 3 ukeleliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis. Instant delete big mobs with 10 daggers for bleed. OFc 23 stacks of fungus too before i saw this video.

You do a great job at explaining things
Wax Quail and H3AD-STs are the engineer's escapes. Also, Old War Stealth Kit can keep both you and your turrets alive by proccing invisibility when you take a lot of damage.
Mines can also be placed on allies, including the Beetle Guard. And they can be manually exploded by shooting at them.
Lastly, turret kills don't count towards the engineer. Because of this, he is a terrible choice to try and get the Deicide achievement (kill an Elite boss on Monsoon) because the turrets will killsteal from you (ungrateful b*stards).
Awesome content! Love your videos man!
thank you, man!
Thanks for the video!
I think you should talk about any cool ideas you have for the game in one of these videos, just for a little bit of creativity.
how do you deal with turrets getting insta killed in mid/late monsoon runs? Demon bosses are especially difficult with this. The long recharge time on turrets has left me running around turretless for decent lengths of time.
I got to the pillars with this guy, and now I’m stuck
Just an FYI you can place more than 2 turrets if you have Dio's Best Friend still active. cause your turrets "die" activating the bear when you spawn a new one.
Yeah but that's definitely a bug and I won't ever mention bugs as actual mechanica
i managed to get more than 2 turrets thanks to Dio's best Friend. He applies everytime for every new turret which means the turret doesnt count as one of your turrets once it died the first time. And after it died the first time i was able to place another one down. So i had up tp 3 to 4 at the same time. x.x Maybe my game bugged idk, but it was just something i was able to do somehow
hmm... that sounds interesting. I'll try that out next time I play Engineer
Engineer is easy game.
with 2 engies you can have a bubble with as little downtime as it takes for the bubble to cast, combo this with both players having fungus and whew boy you got a run
this intro is reverse psychologying me so hard
I could be wrong but i think the backup mags are more useless than what people think because even though you get another mine charge you can still only have 10 on the field at one time. I tried some shenanigans with like 20 mags+cube for one shotting. It did not work... they kept blowing up.
You can place the mines directly onto enemies, and they will stick on and immediately explode. If you do this to a boss with 20 mags, and explode 20 mines on him... well you can probably now imagine how devastatingly good that damage would be.
i got 12 fungi, 2 of the 100%+ healing item, and one item that spawned skulls if i healed myself or the turrets and tesla coil this run took 3 hours it felt so goooood
and i felt that "dont play him in the first 10 runs strange" because you need 30 teleporters to unlock him and i doupt new player achive 30 teleporter in there first 10 runs
I honestly forgot you needed that to unlock him LOL oops... you are absolutely right
Really underappreciating the aegis on him
Hey my dude I am a huge fan, I watched all your videos to learn the game and you helped me get to a point where I feel like I've almost mastered it!
I do use them! this video was uploaded in the very, VERY early stages of RoR2 lol - alternate abilities didn't even exist back then
@@Woolie Yay!
Reason for this is the game sees the turret die so placing a new one will not destroy the one respawning.
haha it is indeed strong but I will never include a bug as an actual gameplay mechanic in item lists or character guides :p
awesome video!
Hey Woolie, thanks for the video, its been of great help. Nowadays there is this turret that can walk, whats your opinion on it? Im a beginner but to me it seems a pretty bad option compared to the stationary ones. It can be very funny to stack movespeed and feathers and such on them though :D
Let me know!
Yeah, stationary turrets will give you more overall power than the walking ones
Engineer Gaming
loot choice artifact will be so much fun. I can't wart forit
that sounds crazy powerful - should be fun, indeed
I now feel vindicated with that mention that brittle crown doesnt work on turrets for GAINING or losing money
In my experience after the turrets gain the infusion benefits they start building it up on you I don’t know if it’s a big or just something else I’m not aware of killing them but that’s what seems to happen with me
easy the best ror2 youtuber right now
thank you man, glad you're enjoying the content
You just earned a new sub ✌️
he's right. engineer's turrets take away enemy aggro which is a huge deal. You don't get this on other characters
I would add aegis to the list but only if you have fungus. The turrets become tanks.
Genesis Loop on turrets is also so funny
Once i was doing a run with engineer but i got the boss item from the jelly boss it was horrifiedly overpowered because my turrets were now the most dangerous thing to attack because if the turrets get to low they become a bomb and kills most monsters near me in seconds once they get low and scince all the foes were dead it allowed to heal and do it again and again and i gave up on putting the barrier on the drone because it would be better if it got hit.
Still can’t wait till they add the bandit class
the nkuhanas opinion and bustling fungus synergy got me thinking: Does nopinion activate your unhit procs? Cause if so then i wanna see mul-t with transcendence, a leech seed and nopinion with like 20 stickybombs. that would be cool
I don't believe N'Kuhana's procs on-hits but I definitely may be mistaken.
but yea, that would be interesting for sure
do you not realize that a new player would have to unlock engineer first, therefore they are incapable of playing them as their first character?
" sniff " *SPY SAPPING MY SENTRY*
I would love to see that hidden unlocks video
does this mean you’re gonna remake the guide for the artificer?
I just started playing him my first run i got all your attacks are AOE and also black whole with 2 extra charges with 3 ukeleliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis. Instant delete big mobs with 10 daggers for bleed. OFc 23 stacks of fungus too before i saw this video.
A hidden items video would be sick!
Comin in hot after my early game guide
