Awesome 70 Chevelle. My 66 SS 360 horse 4-speed also came with 3:31 gears and no power steering. Truly a pleasure to drive. I love Chevelles. Best cars ever made in my opinion.
Yet another great walk around and imformative video by a very knowledgeable Chevelle lover. Keep up the great work you do Patrick. I've learned so much through your video's.
My husband owned a 70 SS 396 4 speed Chevelle, tan and bucket seats. Man what a find and restoration. Original shifter, with the reverse lock with having to turn the steering column that rotated before you could remove the keys! Never thought he would see another like your find, thanks for sharing.
My absolute favorite is a black on black, no stripe 70 Chevelle! The only things I don't like about this one is the vinyl top and lack of A/C but, I wouldn't kick it out of the garage for those minor issues. Even though I don't mind adjusting valves now and then, the L34(?) 396 or LS5 454 would be my choices for a car that's going to see a lot of use.
That was my exact first car I ever owned minus the vinyl top. All black 396 4spd bench seat no cowl induction. Great memories! One thing that stuck out to me was the amount of room around the motor even for a big block.
Nice car but why does it have vents on the dash when it doesn’t have air conditioning usually it’s deleted with a Chevrolet plate majority non air has the deleted plate above the controls just asking ?
Someone had installed a small radio or something in the delete plate, then someone installed an a/c vent when it was removed. No body swap@@raymondboczek
There was a time when they didn't recommend putting a close ratio 4 speed with anything less then 4:11s . The 2 .20 first gear with 3:31s tends to eat clutches , the 2 .54 first gear works much better in my experience.
Those black tuxedo cars in my opinion are just absolutely beautiful and the best looking color on a chevelle is black!!! Wow that's such a sexy beast 😍
What a buitiful chevelle I dont mind it's bin fixed to this level if it was the best work but to me it needs white racing stripes even if it didn't come with them I'm just that much of a fan on how they look with them
Again, I'm not a GM fan at all. BUT, if I had to own a GM product it would be 2 different years and model of cars, this being one. I'd prefer the 454 like a friend ordered new, but this 402 ain't worth kicking this one to the side over. Nice car, hope the buyer enjoys it and treats it like it's been treated for 53 years.

Factory triple black bench 4 speed. Killer. Thank you Patrick.

Patrick, you're a walking encyclopedia on chevelles! Great job!

Great job Patrick! It was great having you at Past & Present Motor Cars! 👍🏻🙌🏻
I'm glad to see the prior owners resisted putting in hood pins and a pop-up cowl induction hood along with the almost ubiquitous SS stripes.
agreed.....
I would not buy a Chevelle with stripes, I can't stand them!
Shows real nice. Like it with no stripes. Buyer will appreciate owning this Chevelle.
Great video. 👍
Beautiful machine and another great and informative review. Ron
I'm a big fan of the D88 delete cars. Another great find and excellent video! Thanks PGN!
Great car. Excellent video presentation.
Another beautiful machine, Chevelle’s are my favorites.

Always appreciate your videos keep ‘em comin

Very Nice Looking chevelle I think that car looks awesome without the ss strips
Same '62 Impala as mine. Mine is a clone 409 425 Tremec 5 speed, was blue, now red
Great stuff brother 😊
I agree with you, I like to see them as survivors with their flaws
Beautiful paint on that car.
Incredible paint work.
Why no hood pins ? I’ve owned four, two with cowl induction, two w/standard dome hood. All Baltimore built, all had hood pins.
Anouther Great SS shows up! Excellent !
Nice car! Great video! Is there a registration list of all the 70 Chevelles that you have validated that is available to be searched?
Really nice car! Love the channel!!
Hey Patrick, have you seen lately a true original Chevelle? And I mean the way it was built from the factory. Thank you
Yes
Love the no stripes look.
Definitely needed in the hobby my opinion
Love the videos. How about ore 70thru72 Montes. There just as collectable
Nice car but why does it have vents on the dash when it doesn’t have air conditioning usually it’s deleted with a Chevrolet plate majority non air has the deleted plate above the controls just asking ?
Patrick I have a question regarding a 1972 SS 454 LS5 I am purchasing can you help ?
This Chevelle has A/C dash vents but no Factory Air.
@@raymondboczekIf car originally had AC , you’d see it called out on build sheet. It is not on build sheet.
Good catch @roncianci7524
It’s called Astro ventilation , you have upper vents in dash and lower vents on kick plate , separate controls for upper and lower.
@@ldean-du5im Non A/C cars would not have these vents, as @raymondboczek stated.

Are the parts on SS just for them or did they use them though out the 70 model year like wiper motor etc
IDK why GM put 3:31 gears in these great cars. Seems very high geared.
Especially with a 4spd,I changed mine out with a 3:55 gear, all around great gear
@@kevinkendall3122 4:10 gears work REAL good with a big block.
@@ricktaylor3748 yea that'll make one jump for sure 👍

3.31 would have been the 4-spd/AC setup right? That might explain it.
Is that standard having the main ground terminal go to the alternator bracket?
Standard mounting place,yes 👍
WOW, is that body straight!
👍👍
No power steering or brakes. M22 3.73s
ALL 1969-1972 Chevelle Super Sports had power brakes.
how much were they asking for this 70?
5 million
@@tonyrhoton6613 5 million rial i can do that
beautiful car
great generation of chevelles.
oh but the 62 impala! my favorite!
Those black tuxedo cars in my opinion are just absolutely beautiful and the best looking color on a chevelle is black!!! Wow that's such a sexy beast 😍
Too bad it lacked AC and bucket seats with middle console. Who ever did the restore did a nice job on it.
I had no idea Matthew McConaughey knew so much about classic cars!
Tough to beat a triple black 1070 Chevelle SS, IMO.
Definitely needs the stripes
no way, way too many with stripes...I actually would never buy a 70 SS with stripes
@@bobsilver3983 neither would I .

I would definitely have put stripes on my 70 if it didnt have them. the body lines deserve the stripes. My car is dark green/white stripes.
@@MrChevelle83 awesome brother I agree they just go together. And the green is a nice color
I would never buy a Chevelle with stripes, I think it makes them look generic....way too many striped cars out there!
@@bobsilver3983 well allrighty! thats what sets us apart and keeps it interesting!
@@bobsilver3983 I guess that's why they make them both ways my self I prefer the stripes
Triple black?!?! My beating heart! I'd prefer a survivor thank you
Should sell easily
No crank? No drive?
That’s why the go a frame off!!
Presumably the drivers door sticker gone
How would a guy get ahold of you to review their car?
All those Day 2 mods and they left the cast iron exhaust manifolds on it ?
👍
🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Where is the letter L for super sport?
Why didn't you start the car
To hear it
Never mind
1st plattsburgh ny view
So
Baltimore built car and no A/C? 😱
Whats a car like that worth
I don't like the no stripe look
I do
As do I .
The Rattery, the better!! Thus could be a clone!,never really know!!
Arlington car🇨🇱
these boats are so over-rated, but i like 'em
You could not start the car up wtf
Have u seen the price of gas.
Unfortunately you will not be able to drive this car in 2030....WEF will ban nearly every freedom we have by then.
BS
Mine was a factory bench seat for Speed car blue with white stripes 396 but we changed to a 427 390 horse I own the car 33 years
Again, I'm not a GM fan at all. BUT, if I had to own a GM product it would be 2 different years and model of cars, this being one. I'd prefer the 454 like a friend ordered new, but this 402 ain't worth kicking this one to the side over.

I'd be more interested in that 62 impala
Wonder what something like this would cost a guy
I give my son an original SS 396
And he sold it.
Every time.
