Therr used to be a class on adulting. It was called Home Economics and a majority of schools had to drop it because of funding. Maybe we should put money back into the public education system, instead of siphoning money to charter schools.

I took a home economics class in high school (Yes many years ago) and they taught us about recipes, how to write a check, balance a checkbook, use coupons, and how to save money where ever you can. Why was that class terminated from the school curriculum?
Home Economics in my school was cooking. I wish I had known how to save money. I’m 82 and still have trouble saving money.

A phone sim card works to get your wifi (for your cell phone and TV streaming). It paid for itself in 10 months, and worth cutting the cord, and I have more channels than I ever had with cable! I took a leap of faith and easy to do!

The piece at the end about home ownership is spot on. I made the "jump to lightspeed" when I was 26 and it made a huge difference in the last 20+ years. Buy property. And if you have some already, help others into the market.
My 26 year old grandson owns a home. He’s already gone from a starter home to a brand new, much larger home for he and his family. He doesn’t have a college education either. He works as a home health care specialist. Just hard work and saving. Property investment is the key to a secure life. I’m so proud of him!
@@margo3367 Excellent. I got into property reluctantly (my partner "forced" me) but it was life-changing. Encourage him to get another property as a rental. The tax breaks are good and when he retires (which doesn't have to be at 65) he will likely have several, with no mortgage, and can live off them. I'm basically retired at 53. I have a couple of businesses (one is property investment) but only work when I feel like it. Plus he can help his own children get a start. 🙂
@@andrewstevenson118 and don't overbuy, keep a reserve for repairs, and pay the mortgage off early. It is true that the sound of the door closing behind you, once you own it outright, is the very sound of security.
@@andrewstevenson118 My (much younger and wiser) little sister owns rental properties and she’s retired from her job as a computer programmer, living on Maui with her husband and doing what she loves, which is art and photography.

Let's hope that being rightly mad doesn't cause these young people to stay home on election day, and just as importantly, primary day, be discouraged if they have to use the post office or DMV, etc. if they need to obtain ID in a state that requires it to vote.

The housing problem is due to greedy builders REFUSING to build 800sf 2 bedrm 2 bath houses on small lots for less than 250k. The microscopic number being built are still over 350k and are in horrible neighborhoods. People under 40 do not want to marry, rarely want to live with people, don't want kids, and want a small yard for dogs and vegetable gardens, as well as a small garage. It has to be under 250k. If the Ahole builder didn't insist on massive profits, and Ahole communities didn't NIMBY small lots and houses, there would not be the resentment and homelessness seen today.
IMO, that's part of the problem. Another problem is that people wanting to get their first home want something bigger than a starter home. Even younger people. They want it all but they can't pay for it. If new home buyers decreased their expectations on the amenities, perhaps builders would build more of what they were buying. Builders don't make money if their houses remain unsold.

The current housing issue was brought on by changes made to the tax code that allows investors to pay much less taxes on rental/investment properties than they used to. This speculative buying is driving up prices on both exisiting homes and new construction.

Kentucky has an excellent governor in Andy Bashir… Every single day, Andy Bashir kept us up-to-date on what was going on with the pandemic and he kept Kentucky safe.. When the tornado tore, the town I live in apart, our governor took action and guided us through a horrific event… He made sure that we were able to rebuild and pull our little town back together… There is a big difference between a governor that is there for the people of his state versus a governor that is there for the elite in the state…

As much as our law is carefully codified it’s important to remember that we are expected and required to apply common sense to the interpretation of law in any situation. As much as hard evidence is required in our courts we and the jury must apply common sense to any gap in tangible evidence. As Chuck pointed out if snow shows up on the lawn when we look out in the morning we can reasonably decide that it snowed during the night. The outcome here may lean upon the common sense of the jurors.
