I have a couple of QSP folders that I EDC. I always carried a Kershaw Leek but as I lost them it cost $60 or so to replace. The QSP was sub $20. Question is how to check steel is really D2? China has been flooding the market with low cost D2 knives.
I wonder that myself. I have heard of some Chinese D2 being easy to chip or break. Of course, D2 has a reputation of being easy to chip anyway. For now, I know it does hold an edge well and has not chipped yet. I have not tried prying with it. Thanks for commenting
Woody, there are some brands that have had some concern with the steel being used. Luv Them Knives has done a lot of steel testing with partners using PMI testing. We take pride in the knives that are offered from the budget to the premium options.
Thank you for your time and the statement on the spine of the knife regarding the use for fire steel or scraping. We are proud to have won the best production knife for Blade Show Texas with the Bison V2.
Absolutely love my Canary have bought two just in case you guys stop making them. Hoping for some crazy colors in the future like blue handle orange blade. Would have spent double on this little guy if it was higher grade steel. Great little camp/hiking/ edc knife. It’s like a mini kephart.
@@qspknife I am quite happy with the current steel very easy to touch up on a hone. What makes the Canary so great is the very usable shape, plus looks cool! That being said I’m pretty Flexible on steel I’ve used S30v, Elmax, CPM154. I don’t care as much about steel as I do blade profile. Thinner profile Scandi version might be cool maintaining some slice-ability. High Carbon steel like 1095 might be a fun option for people who love a patina on a blade.
@qspknife - Quick question, is the V2 Bison available in Europe (Germany/Austria) already? Just finding the QS134A everywhere, but no V2? Thanks in advance!
Cute, so cute, Mark. Yellow G10 handle scales could make it look even cuter. I own several neck knives but I do not wear them around my neck. Steel ball chains irritate my skin on the back of my neck too much. I could tolerate paracord and leather thongs but they are not overly comfortable either. Instead I wear them cross draw horizontally on my belt. Comfortable and discreet EDC carry for me it is. Thanks, Mark, for your infinite wisdom as always.
I just ordered the qsp canary in green Micarta with the Blackstone wash 14c28n sandvik stainless steel.... can't wait to get my hands on it it's going to be replacing my tops mini Scandi (tops, MSK mini).. I really like my msk knife when I'm out in the woods... but I wanted a steel that was more stainless for obvious reasons ( I sweat like a pig😅)... but I didn't want to lose out on the toughness cuz I use these little knives to do tiny carving out in the woods and the obvious things like opening up stuff... either way long story short I think this knife is going to be pretty good, the one modification I might do to it is on the back I might make a little spot where I can put a 90-degree oval-shaped divot.. for my firesteel but it's a very skinny one so it won't be too intrusive... I like the duck tape that fire still to the back of my neck knife sheaths.. wow I use a waterproof Gorilla Tape... anyways since this isn't Urban and Wilderness type of Carrie I'll be doing I take the barrel rod and 3 - 5 grams of gold Maples to the backs.. ( 1 G size).. emergency spending money😂
Good looking knives for sure. I started wearing my mora as a neck knife and I really like it. Wearing it on my belt always felt awkward getting it back in the sheath. Thanks Mark, great video!
I believe I first saw Mors Kochanski wearing a Mora as a neck knife. He said, and I agree, it is much easier to get too in the winter with a big coat on. Thanks for commenting brother
G'day Mark, I very much like the Bison design, and yep better again with more handle real estate. I'd probably do scout or pack strap carry with it, since the option is there, + it takes the flexy, high ride belt loop out of the equation. Cant say I'm a D2 fan though, 14C on this one too would be more my go. Square handle and rounded spine, .... should be the other way round, lol, .... but at least both are fixable. With the Canary; ....yes cute ; ) though personally I don't do neck knives, simply because I'll have a compass or compact binos in that position. What I ...would do, .... is piggy back it on a large fella's sheath, like a BK-9 or machete, however, I reckon it must be able to strike a ferro rod to earn its keep. Cheers Duke.
@@MarkYoungBushcraft Thanks. Bought V1 and instantly thought it was great except the handle was too short. If it wasnt for your video I'd never know a V2 was available. On order. Cheers!

@@qspknife I think it would be cool if you put out something in the style of CRKT CEO folder. I would definitely buy it.😃

It is a great knife at a very reasonable price. I can see why it did well at Blade Show. Thanks for commenting

The original version was made for small asian hands, I'm glad they revamped it. I had v1 but passed it on, going to order a v2.
I passed my early version as well. The new one is great. I am now testing a full size Canary from QSP that I like even more. Thanks for commenting
I will back you up Mark, it is a cute knife. Cheers my friend.

Sounds like a good mod. I may do that myself. Still, it is a very small knife. Thanks for commenting
Thank you for the video the Canary is my absolutely favourite blade to cary. Great small blade for fine tasks. Teamed up with a larger blade.

Very nice knives, great overview and rundown, Mark.
I appreciate that James. I was wondering if it would be too small for boot carry. Thanks for commenting

Good review and some nice knifes. Price is fair. Do you have a video on sharpening knifes? That's something I need to know and do correctly.
Not yet but you have motivated me to consider making one. Thanks for commenting
