I'm in Tucson and have no a/c. Every afternoon it gets up to 94 degrees. I'm miserable.

My mom let us go without other things before going without air conditioning. She grew up in Arizona so it was never gonna happen!
Also, maybe don’t wear a blanket and light candles when it’s hot out…

YES! Tucson AZ! My AC goes off and on! They say $20,000! Crazy! It is a $2000 unit!

I'm in Tucson too and my swamp cooler stopped working when they changed the pads. It gets to 95 degrees in here every day. They insist it's working fine. I haven't slept in three days. Don't know what to do.

new system, but can they afford the cost of running and AC unit for 4 months out of the year? I live in Los Angeles and my bills are well over 1k every other month and the summers aren't harsh.

@Brian Howard so true that hardwood floor is cooler than carpeted one, yet temperature doesn't care and today for example it's 88 F despite having cool shades and a fan turned on 12 or maximum speed .

I live in New Orleans, the most humid city in America. YOU CANT LVE HERE WITHOUT AC. YOU WOULD DIE FROM DEHYDRATION AND SWEATING YOUR ELECTROLYTES OUT.

Cooling technology has come a long way in the last 20 years where u can survive with little to NO Air conditioning. High velocity fans such as Vornado and Rowenta create nice wind breezes inside your home that can really make a difference. Cooling blankets, pillows and sheets have become much more common to further help people sleep during hot summer nights. Remember those old box fans we used back in the day. Saw they had one. Get another one and position them on opposite sides of the home windows. One facing in, the other facing out. To supplement those box fans, especially at night, freeze up 4 or 5 ice packs to use whenever the heat is too much. Lastly, in those extremely hot days, head to the mall, library or catch a nice movie.

I'm a widdow and haven't had air-conditioning for 3 years now, have a lot of headacks from it. I'm 73 years old . I'm in Riverside California and it gets very hot here, and with walls surrounding our house doesn't help either.

My fiancé’s parents had no air conditioner until last summer when we had to stay with them for 2 weeks. They finally got one because I couldn’t stand it, and now I think how all thanks to me being “particular” now nobody has to suffer over at the grandparents house anymore ☺️

Having Air conditioning is VERY Important.
The Body is not supposed to be that Hot & agitated all day long.
Also, apparently people who live where it’s super cold have longer life expectancy!

My grand mother lived over 100yrs without air-conditioning in hot northern Ghana. Simple natural ventilation is good enough for most places except a few. Most people in the world have no air-conditioning.
      I personally don't like it.

I’m 65 and don’t have a/c, can’t afford the electric bill even if someone gave me a wall unit. It is usually over 100 everyday in the Summer months. Heat rises so being 2nd floor makes it worse. 😢

Most houses these days tonrent only have swamp coolers because they are cheaper to install without having the knowledge that they are worthless where you live when it is not dry climate and only air conditions is ideal bit expensive.

What does COPD have to do with AC? On the contrary, AC should help relieve some of the strain the lack of oxygen has on the body. My grandpa passed in March this year due to COPD - my heart goes out to you, it’s a hard struggle. Just keep him as comfortable as possible.
