I’m a home designer. During a new build, right as the framing was almost complete a bald eagle decided to nest in the rafters. The construction immediately stopped. We had to wait for the eggs to hatch and the babies had to learn how to fly. Once they were off to do whatever bald eagles do, we had to get permission to complete from the environmental agency. They said that we had two weeks to complete the exterior, because the eagles will return to the same place to nest.
We got it done. But, I’ll never forget going to check a bald eagle’s nest every day for three months 😂

Then she will likely pick a beautiful tree that happens to be over the walkway to the lake in the back yard, so she can poop all over the walkway 😂
An eagle is smarter than we think, and is an arrogant, beautiful creature.
I’ve walked into a home built with an owl on the framing of the fireplace. Scared the beejus out of me and just stared into my soul. I said, “Sorry Mr Owl, didn’t mean to intrude” and get the heck outta there. He just said “who” repeatedly while I ran out. I went back to my office and declared that the initial walk through can wait 😂

I'm creek from north Florida. That is my tribe. We tried to make the panhandle the state of mvskoke and the US invaded. A lot of that land in the panhandle was stollen from us and a lot of our families even only a few generations ago(my great grandmother's sister) were forcibly removed from there. Often to be murdered in residential schools. Those schools were only outlawed in 1989. Often the tribe will come in and excavate if let happen and remove and relocate artefacts. I know that the band of the tribe in Atmore which would have rights over your land and the tribe a lot of my family is from frequently does this. We just want to preserve our history and families. 😢

The Well thing, might have depended on the size pipe. I think you only need a permit for a well in florida, is if its bigger than a couple inches. I could be wrong though. Its just a guess from me, living in florida all my life. My Step dad was creek indian. I heard him mention similar things. Where some his friends couldn't build on the property because of tribal land. Definitely a crappy situation for the land owner.

  • @mars4697

I understand every bit of this! This happened to me, except the way they “settled” the digging problem and just said as a compromise you can build a house but it has to be slab on grade…meaning the bottom level has to sit 12 inches above the grade level. We lost sooooo much money and time. We walked away as it was too much. I stopped looking for houses cause I was so depressed. We ended up finding a better lot with an amazing view a year later. This was 15 years ago. Now, there is a freaking freeway 2 houses from this old lot. Man, I am grateful it worked out how it did. I was honestly mad at God for a bit but I also had faith that what was coming was better. It stang but was true. Congrats on the move forward till next hiccup! Lol

@Christina Randall, hi there a couple of cheap ideas about the house you are going with:
    1. Get a side by side with a winch dont waste money on a golf cart that will get stuck.
    2. Sounds like you have a 2 storey house. Have them build the garage to match up with the house. I say this because its super cheap to build up, then it is to go wider.
Also the second storey in the garage would make room for your gym, xmas decore, or whatever you guys may have.
    3. Ask for higher ceilings. I know it sounds silly but by asking for higher ceilings you can add more cupboards, more cupboards in the kitchen and the pantry. Im talking 3 ft higher just enough for a second set of cabinets. You can even have them set a second set of cabinets in the garage, above the first set for more pantry space.
Also by doing this in a house, you can have privacy windows, what i mean is the windows in certain areas may be a higher so pple cant see in but you still get all that natural sun light.
    4. Also this will increase your floor plan on the main floor of your garage. Id also put in huge garage doors atleast 1 maybe 2. You never know future wise if an rv or truck may not fit in the smaller bays. Why do things twice. Plus Jeremy may want a little bay to himself to work on cars, bikes etc until you can get a shop or pole barn built for him.
    5. Look at Brad the builders youtube channel. Heck reach out to him and tell him Ryan sent you. Hes got some excellent ideas that wont break the bank. And he LOVES pantries and may even be able to find a way to sneak yours back in there for you. He also loves pole barns etc for tinkering.
    6. Dont forget, getting a bigger property, that you will definitely need more equipment, like these for instance, a side by side, atvs, riding lawn mower, stuff for hurricaneseason etc. You may eventually want a boat or rv for camping and water days.
    7. Just remember building up is always cheaper then building outwards. You can always build a pole barn for all the toys and shop for the bigger stuff.
    8. A studio and office just for you with extra insulationing that sound deadens. This could even go above the garage on that second floor i was talking about, and if its near a water pipe you could even put a powder room there for pretty cheap.
    9. You may also want to make sure you are clear from all trees hitting your home, but also from their roots getting in your plumbing. Also drainage, you may want to put drainage all the way around your house that way it stands the best chance in a flood/hurticane.
    10. Also you may want to think about an extra room. I say this because we all have family members who age and their partners pass away and they just cant be alone due to sadness or just medical issues. I strongly urge door ways wide enough for wheelchairs/walkers and bathrooms and other common areas having wide doorways or open floor plans.
Enjoy the small things in life, the things that dont cost money like friends and family and making memories. Those are what truly matters.
I love your channel and love what you are about, thank you for just keeping things real and being yourself. Always remember to love yourself, its not selfish or wrong, but loving yourself and who you are, enables you to be there for everyone you choose to love you. Dont let anyone get that twisted lol.
Keep up the fantastic and hard work and check out brads youtube channel hes got a lot of tips for building. Take care and I'll catch you on your next video.

Always love a video from you!! I might have said it on the previous video but more people should be smart when buying/building and not thinking about what they can afford right now BUT what they can afford or want to spend over the course of their life. Property taxes have tripled in my area (right outside of Charlotte NC) within the past few years and that’s a huge factor in home expenses that will affect you every single year. Couldn’t love you and the message you send more!! At the end of the day, you’ll have a nice roof over your head and family to share it with but I know this process has been hard. We also planned to build on family land but ended up buying a house instead. Maybe one day 😊

We had to go a little smaller and didn’t add all the fancy things but made sure we put the most expensive items like wood floors/tile, granite and high (ada) toilets!! Metal roof is a must in Florida!! The information in your property needed to be disclosed before purchase. Best of luck. It will be worth it in the long run!!

Honestly, these types of things happen all of the time with land. Someone’s great great grandpa could have written deed restrictions that are bizarre as hell, but they aren’t removable. It’s up to the buyer to do their due diligence by contacting the county to reveal everything about the land. I’ve always felt it is a really rocky experience buying land, specifically, for these reasons. A lot of people buy land and then find out about the restrictions and ultimately give up and put it back on the market. I’m glad you stuck with it and were able to move forward with your dream home. Congrats!! I can’t wait to see the end result!

Girl I feel your pain. We bought land and built a house on it 18 years ago and I was like never again. What a pain. We had to move where we were putting the house on 3 separate times. It took forever. I hope things go smoothly for you and your family. Goo luck.

I totally understand Christina! We have been working on our house since 2021. I watched your latest video and can't believe how quickly they got you to drywall! We are our own contractor and it is so incredibly stressful, esp. working directly with contractors. Ugh!

put in two wells and electricity! Oh my gosh! I built a house in 2002 and it was soooooo hard. I had that soil sample taken for the building of the house as well. I had to stay on top of the subcontractors because I caught them installing the bathroom tile on the kitchen floor! I am praying for you and please check on them regularly. Love y'all!

AGREED! We just moved into our house back in September after building it last year. We went through four builders before we actually decided on someone. Then it was during covid so there were supply issues and everything was so expensive. 30 feet of conduit for our electrical lines was just under $1,000! This was also after our county told us we couldn't build a certain size home and have another home for my in-laws. So be sure you can have your home there and your in-law's home there. Our county had restrictions on their size home and our size home.

Girl, I agree. We bought land 7 years ago and it has just be sitting waiting forus to build. My husband job at the time required us to move around. Rigjt now we are saving up money to make it happen. Land was paid off over a year ago but just have to save now. Also land prices are insane. Thankfully we bought when we did. We have land in the TN mountains. 55.5 acres we paid 80,000. Has a creek, a well half forest half pasture land. In the country. We love it!

Christina!!!!!!!! I do this for a living (the last 9 years) and this is INSANE! Im so glad y’all got clearance. The ground work you guys did was the most expensive stuff you have to do. Im soooooo happy you guys are able to move forward, that would have been awful! Permit offices are going to be the death of me. As sad as it is I’ve had clients in the same boat as y’all. Well let me say never w 🦖 🤣. Excited to follow along on your journey💜💜💜

My husband and I have the same goals. We want to have property where our parents can move on so we can care for them when needed. We searched and searched and couldn't find anything in our price range. Our friends decided they wanted to build a house and said they would sell us theirs! They just signed a contract to start building so we should be moved in within a year. And the plus side of this house is a 5 bedroom house, we have 4 kids! And there's already a platform for a trailer with water and electricity hooked up for one of our parents! And land with the option of possibly buying more land in the future!

Yes Christina I feel you! My parents are in Port Saint Lucie, Florida and they have told me about all the permits you have to have in Florida. You have to have a permit for a front door, a fence, a hot tub, pool..you name it. NOTHING like where my parents moved from here in Tennessee where I still reside. I’m so glad you got it approved and the train is back on the track so to speak. 😊 Can’t wait to see your beautiful forever home! 🎉

That is unreal. I am so happy things are progressing for y'all. Building a house is one of the most stressful things you'll ever go through. Remember it is a material object that can be changed or upgraded at any time in the future, so while it's in the construction process don't sweat the small stuff.

It's INSANE that the county wouldn't let the potential buyer know about the problem on the property, but have no shame to sell it anyway. I heard similar stories about military structures being spread between parcels and dead bodies found that stopped the building, but never about individual residence powers that shelved crucial info like this about the sacred place underground... makes me wanna reconsider building and settle for a fixer-upper instead
Very glad you got your permit though. Godspeed Christina!
