You could also add the ATC feature to the non ATC tool holders. So you can use them in t he ATC. I think you only clamp them from the upper part so even if they will be a bit shorter the upper part will be the same.
@@CNC4XR7 Why shortened shank? BEcause you want to add the chamfer to help during the tool changing? I think if you use them for drilling you won't have any problem since the force will be all along the Z. I meant to add the groove like in the TTS holders. The only diffreence in height will be after the groove ebut I think your TTS clamp on the ATC is registered on the upper part. Here you can see the modification I have mentioned ruclips.net/video/CiLmNN0tSH0/видео.html&ab_channel=TomZelickman
The other thing you can do if you don’t want to modify the tool holders is to design the tool fork in two pieces and use a spring to pull the jaws together.
Thanks for the input. Ive seen two three piece forks like that which seem to complicate a otherwise simple piece. Ideally if you purchase all your tool holders together from the same supplier they will be the same. You could also make custom tool forks for each variety of tool holders. but for me the best solution was to make the tool holders consistent.
@@CNC4XR7 The hazard is if you expect that surface to be concentric and then for whatever reason try to measure off of it. It certainly won’t be enough to effect the ATC or cause vibration at the spindle speeds that you are running. 😉
Hey Sam I have a question about the tool holders . What did you use for collets before you went to the tts style holders. I am trying to decide getting a r8 er32 holder or get a set of r8 collets. What is your preferred holder before the tts
Hi Michael Great question! I had both! Er 32 works well and will cover everything up to 25/32". I never used anything past 1/2" so really a ER-20 is about all you need. But I don't suggest you spend money on this even though I understand why your considering this. ( I had the same thought process. It' will be simple to just change the tools. RIGHT) in reality it's a pain and you will quickly want something else. A R8 ER-20 or ER-32 tool holder will run about $25 each. Let me suggest that you go with something like this. amzn.to/3dSYQUA $60 Forgo all the frustration of tool changes now you can have 3 tools setup. and having only 1 type ER-20 you can interchange if needed. start building the TTS collection right away. then you dont waste any money.
@@CNC4XR7 wow thank you for suggestion and I just finished ordering it as you said 3 tool setup is a great start and just buy more holders as needed . I love your channel and look forward to all your new videos related to the pm727.
Great video thank you!
Glad you liked it!

I can but the shortened Shank tends to initiate pull out and theirs also the height issue in the ATC so best to leave them for Manual tool changes.

Great fix Sam
thanks
Just remember that the cut surface will now have some runout in comparison to the shaft.
Yes there will be some however I don't think there is enough to cause any adverse effects.

@@darkwinter6028 yes that is possible I did indicate them best as I could but I know there is some out of tolerance there
