I like your tying. You might take it one step further: put the foam body on a needle and attach a sparse bit of Antron yard to the tail, whip finish, bring the Antron up to the thorax, whip finish, then attach to the hook. That little bit of sparkle-pupae effect can make a difference.

But always willing to try something different. 40 years or so later, I’ve drifted bugs during caddis hatches enough times to be convinced that a lifelike, light body and the almost invisible (underwater) translucent outer body will outfish any other pattern technique. I fish the northern and western U.S. This may be different than your waters.
