funny how this was way ahead of its time. It was not apple and adroid that killed Nokia. Nokia basically stabbed themselves by not paying attention into marketing this instead of Windows phone. RIP to you Meego
Beauuuutiful piece of tech. I hope Nokia bring back this curvy ergonomic designs.. and put a full screen on their fones. That way they will have an identity just like iPhones do over the years. This is perfect Nokia DNA
Well, looks like MeeGo finally grew up to match what is out there. The UI looks like a cross between Android and WP7.5 but can be more refined to be as good as WP7.5 Certainly very fluid in the navigation but how about multi-tasking ?.
@shrytu That was only a developers edition of MeeGo and it wasn't actually working as a phone. Actually the N9 also runs Maemo 6, aka. Harmattan aka. Meego 1.2 Harmattan...
There are 2 things that conerns me in this video.. 1.The swype gesture - Where you would close/minimise an application to the background. Wouldn't it be easily activated while panning around an application like the internet browser, maps or gallary? @ 2:12 while trying to press that conner button he accdiently activated the 'swype' gesture.
i liked the fact that this guy had to constantly swipe to get the pages to move. the samsung galaxy s2 is the most responsive, fast, efficient phone on the market for the next 6 months
Ok, I have IPhone4 but holy shit, this phone is amazing. In the end he was running what, 20-30 apps while playing Angry Birds? Totally zero slowdown & you were able to swipe out of that as well... The OS is superior to anything else on the market, I wish it had wide developer support for a lot of new apps.
It seems very solid phone just like always . However , what is the idea of moving the front facing camera to the lower right side ? Is there any specific reason ? Because it looks very stupid and odd !
2. Facebook - I'm using the N8 right now and seriously the social app sucks big time. Its so bad that i have to resort to 3rd party apps like mobileways gravity just to get a descent facebooking experience. That's why i'm really interested as in what facebook features are supported on Meego's facebook app. Also who programs it? Facebook themselves or nokia?
I have N8, and N9 is supposedly is an updated virgin of it. But it's a completely different phone: the software, hardware, design, camera, EVERYTHING. So why do they call it N9????
This is what the n8 should of been, nokia would of been in a great position now. This os looks the most modern of all the current phones. A real winner however is it going to succeed given the announcement regarding windows mobile
I don't understand why nokia did add home screens on the no with widgets and stuff like with maemo witch they could of done by swipe top to bottom or bottom to top
@1234fllf well yeah but that's like in the middle of the video..but it wasn't responsive since the begining anyway...so bad thing is it isn't that responsive and a bit slow...good thing it keeps this speed no matter what apps ur opening!! so in short, never gets slower or faster!!!
@stefiking92 yeah but i'm not talki ng about the swipe thingy. In general, in this video he sometimes had to touch somethings a couple of times for it to respond..also even if it was responsive still the software isn't still that great, i'd stick with android or ios or even wp7 until nokia makes nice phone
@noeledhaimere Galaxy s II is too big at 4.3", has way to much plastic in the construction, and is a poor man's iphone 4. The N9 has a camera to die for, gorgeous looks, curved gorilla glass screen - the first no button device, free offline turn by turn sat nav, and - a first for Nokia - the UI is smoother than a billiard ball. The only thing that I would need is cloud back up.
the only thing this has is a new different symbian looking ui and the multitasking also it has alot of little functionalities like wp7 has. this has negative customization and honestly is this really gunna catch on? the only os worth destroying is ios. android is just is too customizable to be fucked with and wp7 is only getting better. webos is not moving up or down and blackberry is dead.. idk if there room for this ui or if this means one or more os will just fall
funny how this was way ahead of its time. It was not apple and adroid that killed Nokia. Nokia basically stabbed themselves by not paying attention into marketing this instead of Windows phone. RIP to you Meego
where was this vid shot at? i see the phone is on a t-mobile network, is it tmobile usa?
Beauuuutiful piece of tech. I hope Nokia bring back this curvy ergonomic designs.. and put a full screen on their fones. That way they will have an identity just like iPhones do over the years. This is perfect Nokia DNA
@fteoOpty64 weren't you watching? multitasking is like the highlight of this phone!
Indeed the iPhone has changed phone designs forever! :)
Looks awesome. I would get this is it had Blackberry features. That's why I got the BB Torch 9860. But yeah, this phone looks so cool.
nokia what a nice jump from this N9.i am still loving nokia now
@najibnk look at 2:12. Clearly while he was trying to reach that button at the conner of the screen, the 'swype' gesture was registered instead.
Well, looks like MeeGo finally grew up to match what is out there. The UI looks like a cross between Android and WP7.5 but can be more refined to be as good as WP7.5
Certainly very fluid in the navigation but how about multi-tasking ?.
i absolutely love nokia hardware
Beeeeeautiful
@cirkusarena. The swipe ul look also good. I hope Nokia patents it because it is very innovative.
@shrytu That was only a developers edition of MeeGo and it wasn't actually working as a phone. Actually the N9 also runs Maemo 6, aka. Harmattan aka. Meego 1.2 Harmattan...
@MichaelIluma Well technically they released it originally with Maemo THEN they had the n900 run MeeGo.
@DemiAps Damn ! Lucky you ! :P My problem is that i live in Guatemala and there are no N9 here so i have to wait
This is going to be one powerful device!
sad to say but it wasn't upto the hype !!
@Chrisgonal how is the phone, because The US is never getting a MeeGo powered phone.
Nokia N9 with Meego was a revolution.
This is only a meego phone?
How come this phone is already available in my country, Malaysia?
ahh my love n9
There are 2 things that conerns me in this video..

awesome phone i would like to see what happend with the os with more support
why did nokia scrap meego?
i liked the fact that this guy had to constantly swipe to get the pages to move. the samsung galaxy s2 is the most responsive, fast, efficient phone on the market for the next 6 months
@07liberian No, N950 is updated version for N900.....N9 doesn't even have a slide out keyboard
@shrytu That shipped w MaeMo 5 and can be ugraded to MeeGo 1.2
This phone is a MeeGo 1.2 phone, which uses lots of code together with Maemo 6. ;)
@AJperlaki i am not worried about that, just have to find a place to get it once it releases is my problem.
Why is that noise in the back?
Ok, I have IPhone4 but holy shit, this phone is amazing.
In the end he was running what, 20-30 apps while playing Angry Birds? Totally zero slowdown & you were able to swipe out of that as well...
The OS is superior to anything else on the market, I wish it had wide developer support for a lot of new apps.
It's Nokia's SECOND phone with MeeGo. Their first was the N900 :)
is there like a tropical beach theme for this phone if not i do not like a phone xD looks great though, and it is not an android phone right?
@CheManiange So I'm guessing you got your 10 n9s then eh?
will this be available in canada??!?!!
@darkzerk7 There is an app you can download which allows you to run any android app.
@Nanozander to close or minimise app you need to swype from the edge of the screen .
@tokodan This is just a test version. They will update the phone before it comes out. So it will be faster and smoother :D
It seems very solid phone just like always . However , what is the idea of moving the front facing camera to the lower right side ? Is there any specific reason ? Because it looks very stupid and odd !
Very nice video buddy but I got a question for you can you make a Skype video calls on nokia n9
@xXzooma94Xx I saw other vidoes where it worked pretty normally, so really responsive.
@xXzooma94Xx That is because when you swipe you need to do that from the edge of screen..it cant do swipe from the middle..
You can slide up slightly to bring up the shortcuts
I have had a Nokia6600i slide for three years, dropped it countless times and it still survives -.- man i want an n9
What is the third page he swipes?
@jithinrjayan how do you download it?
man so cooooooooolllllll
nokia gonna b d best again.........
@darkzerk7 i totally agree with you, the 3 views is more thought out compare to samsung and htc android..
Nokia really stepped up its game . Wonder how it compares to the samsung Galaxy s2 or iphone 4s ,
Awesomeeeee!!!!! WELCOME BACK NOKIA!! :)
@Nanozander ohh.. i can see that . but you need to swype all the way . so it not a big problem...
@xXzooma94Xx Well it was running like 20 apps in the background...
I have N8, and N9 is supposedly is an updated virgin of it. But it's a completely different phone: the software, hardware, design, camera, EVERYTHING. So why do they call it N9????
It has capacitive or resistive screen ?
capacitive
@StrongBOXMobile Sure it is
This is what the n8 should of been, nokia would of been in a great position now. This os looks the most modern of all the current phones. A real winner however is it going to succeed given the announcement regarding windows mobile
unfortunately not ;c
@CerberusOperativeN7 October is what I am hearing
This Demonstration is bat, for the man.
If this phone was in the USA i would be so happy, I truly miss Nokia. the US gets all the lower grade models
this phone has nice look
plz tell me its price
whats its price
here comes the future :)
N9 is God-like!
Nokia is back in tha house yo .... !!
@stefiking92 yeah but i'm not talki
ng about the swipe thingy. In general, in this video he sometimes had to touch somethings a couple of times for it to respond..also even if it was responsive still the software isn't still that great, i'd stick with android or ios or even wp7 until nokia makes nice phone

@nnmhang navigation is great and free and offline

the symbian or meego has never been more competitive compared to android os
I like what i see, i wonder how much this will cost.
@noeledhaimere Galaxy s II is too big at 4.3", has way to much plastic in the construction, and is a poor man's iphone 4. welcome to the competition Nokia
NICE! I wish it was Windows or Symbian!
Yay Bazil! :-D
Don't really like the UI it's kinda dull. Thanks for review.

@luigiestar209 Hahahaha! I really liked your comment =))
looks better than wp7!
@facebookno
Nope... MeeGo.
@MrRdt1970 Not very responsive to touch?? The guy demo'ing has clumsy hands. When he really tries is in the Angry birds demo. Watch till the end.
This review makes me wanna get a pager.
Don't their actual owners from Germany and Italy miss them?
HTC and Apple and LG all day
I will take the Sea Ray WP7 of this phone
