Great upload and helped me understand why my head unit displayed "contact dealer" when trying to open Apple Car Play on a 2018 Passat. But as your comment - This is the 21st centry and VW should not be charging customers £250 for some lines of code which should already be there from factory? It's just a shameless rip-off retro fit extra VW owners have to pay dealers to make the head unit fully function. Most other car makers don't do this 🤓
Can you tell me how much it is to activate the android auto please? My local VW dealer has quoted £290:00 😳 Sounds abit steep for inputting a coded program 🤔
Flight of the Conchords NICE !! I have a 2015 Passat with a discover pro Mib2 that has mirror link installed. Is there a way to update software to access app connect ?
Hi, today I paid a fortune for VW to activate app connect on my discovery media head unit in my T6. After a 3 hour wait while this work was being done ( after being told it’s a 30min job ) I was told the install had been unsuccessful ! I was told a software update was needed at an additional cost of £60 which would hopefully fix the issue… it didn’t! I wasn’t charged the £60 due to failure of the installation. I can now see app connect on the screen but unable to use it. When I select app connect I’m asked to select a device which isn’t possible ? When I plug my iPhone into the usb it says ‘device not supported’. My phone is capable of charging using this usb but doesn’t seem to sync with the head unit ?? I was told by VW that I would have to rebook my van in for a day for further investigation works and possibly a new usb socket installed at my cost. Is there anything you can advise as to why this is happening or if you have seen this problem before and know how to fix it ? I have used genuine iPhone cable to connect as well as other aftermarket cables with no success… Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers Dan
I factory reset my car to try and get Bluetooth to work and now its telling me I need a new activation key to contact my dealer. They are trying to charge me 175 an hour. is this a normal thing? I feel like when you spent 30- 40 thousand you shouldn't have to pay if you reset your car!
If your vehicle is out of warranty then most dealerships will have certain costs per hour for their labour. If your vehicle came with App Connect from factory it can simply be restored via Online Connection. If it was activated after the car was delivered and activated correctly online via ODIS and activation document again it will be restored. IF however this was done by a 3rd party who have "Hacked" the vehicle to give it App Connect then this will be lost and VW Will not restore it.
My 2017 Volkswagen Golf suddenly disconnected from app-connect and I get the app-connect message saying I need to buy an activation key from my dealer. But when i went to see them they had no idea what the problem was or what an activation key even was.... Does anyone know why my app-connect would suddenly disconnect and what I could do to get a new activation key or fix this issue? Thank you!
If the vehicle had the Official Activation with a licence it's stored online with VW so if the vehicle is plugged in at a Dealer it knows it has App-Connect and would automatically reactivate it. To me it sounds like you've encountered the situation of where somebody at some point has hacked the system to give it CarPlay. AS this wasn't done via Genuine means with an official licence it can be lost and not recovered.
Because in the UK you are not allowed to use or touch your phone whilst driving. This allows you to have CarPlay apps on your main screen that links to your vehicle.
@@AdvancedInCarTechnologies This is exactly why I bought it in the new Caddy, people dont understand you cant legally touch your phone while in motion 'OR' on a public road. worth it for the safety reasons alone really. If youve ever used your phone while driving, and your honest about your blunders, youll most likely know why its not a good idea while driving...

The license is a one use item that gets assigned to the chassis number of the vehicle. Once it’s applied it can’t be transferred.

The same thing happened to me
And same with dealer, so how do I fix this? I need a new key?
Why pay for this when you can just use your phone?
Because you’re not allowed to use your phone whilst driving. Hence Apple CarPlay & Android Auto.
@@AdvancedInCarTechnologies ahahaha,jokers
Can it be done with 3Q0035820b. MTS2_EU_VW_PO628D MU VERSION 0751
2017 opel came standard with android auto support without haveing to pay your dealer a small fortune. VW is a joke
