    I can definitely see how this would sneak up on your triceps. I’ve always found that the triceps are the muscles version of that friend who agrees to help you move but doesn’t tell you that he has to abruptly leave leave 2/3 of the way through and drops your couch in the middle of the street.

    Just wanted to stop by and tell all that I tried this exercise yesterday for the first time (my triceps day). Holy guacamole!! That lone recommended 5-8 rep protocol (did 2 sets, btw) with a fixed 20-lbs E-Z bar lit up my triceps like nothing I had ever experienced before (still feeling the burn 24 hours after doing it). The only problem I had was I did not do it as my finishing exercise. Had a 4-set power bomb lined up afterward but could not keep my form in check to complete them properly. I chalk that up to pilot error. Won't. Happen. Again. Memo to all looking to add this to your tricep workout regimen: Save this Face Scrapers for last. Your arms will thank you.

    @3:17 bad tip here. Its mostly shoulder and minimal tricep, if any at tri at all.
    Even though ur anatomically in the same possition as a skullcrusher, the force vector is 90 degrees different.

    • @HypertrophyCoach
      @HypertrophyCoach  3 года назад +5

      Bad comment here. You’re confused. Yes the shoulder is being loaded, but “mostly shoulder and minimal triceps” is completely inaccurate. The moment arm to the elbow is the same length as the lever arm in this case (for the portion where the forearm is parallel to the ground), so elbow torque is as high as possible for a given load through the entire “pressing” phase.
      You could always try it too, instead of trying to sound smart in the comments.

      @Eplemos4Life 3 года назад

      @@HypertrophyCoach you are more knowledgeable than alot other tubers, but sometimes you stumble on your own thoughts.
      Ill give you an example:
      If you start at the top possition when your arm is fully locked out and push your elbow forward (90 degrees difference from its top possition) and let your wrist go towards your shoulder, the force vector would allign perfectly and mimic skull crusher load.
      From there press it up, and then let it fall behind you as you mention.
      This would make it more tricep and less delts due to better alignment.
      Your variant is ok, but it could be biased more towards triceps and less front delt.

    • @HypertrophyCoach
      @HypertrophyCoach  3 года назад +1

      You’re still confused. The load it pulling into shoulder flexion the whole time. Which is the concentric function of front delts. Front delts aren’t involved at all. The lats are actually the muscle being loaded eccentrically at the shoulder joint.

    Hey, you want a surprise on that one? You can get some biceps isometric on that exact same exercise. The way that you do it is to appreciate part of what the biceps job is, which is to supinate the hand. So when you do your face-scraper by laying on your back, instead of using an EZ-bar, a barbell, or a dumbbell... instead, use a kettle-bell. Hold it such that the big-ball of mass is on the outside of your hand. The big ball of mass will want to swing down, thus turning your palm up to the ceiling... but resist it, and keep that palm in a neutral position. What is making that happen - at least through a meaningful portion of the exercise - is the effort of the biceps.

      Then kindly fk off. I don’t need you to bitch about how I format my free content. It’s free. You don’t have to be here.

      If you think that feedback is “constructive” you and I have far different personal and professional experiences with “constructive” feedback. And it’s not free? How much did you pay to watch it?

      @@HypertrophyCoach if you don’t want comments then shut them off. I’m entitled to comment as far as I know
      You offer your “free “ content only after you blatantly ask for clicks and subscribers up front? Some how you assume that to be fair
      Again I did say thank you but you somehow think that people who have an opinion aren’t worthy if they don’t drink your koolaid
      Simple…. Offer the content then ask if it was worthwhile. Let the viewer determine whether to subscribe or not or give a thumbs up.
      Listen I got your message loud and clear. I’m a nobody and you obviously are successful. You don’t need to waste your time on me and I won’t waste my time on your channel
      Take care and good luck . Thanks for the replies and stay well
      You seriously want people to believe that you offer free content without any chance of profit from ads , YT etc? Ain’t nobody Mother Theresa

      I want comments. I just don’t want negative, disrespectful, “entitled” comments. And FYI, rolling up a “thank you” in the middle of a huge turd, kind of defeats the purpose of a thank you. And you really are confused about what the definition of “free” is. DID YOU PAY ANYTHING TO WATCH MY VIDEO. NO. Then it’s free for you. Would I like to make some money from RUclips on ads? Sure. That would be great. But whether they pay me 10 cents a video or 10 million a video, it’s just as FREE FOR YOU. And it doesn’t bother me that you’re a self-proclaimed nobody. It bothers me that your a rude dick. You talk to strangers in public like this? You go shit talk street performers as well? Tell them how to do their act better? Cause their act wasn’t good enough for what you paid? Free.
