The airbrake on the London City clip is out, because that is the correct way of landing there. Since the airport has a 5.5° glideslope, it would be practically impossible to maintain Vref without the use of airbrake. The plane would just accelerate even on idle throttle with the airbrake in. The reason the pilot in the clip landed so hard, were poor weather conditions and a flare that should have been executed 30 feet prior. Apart from that, no pilot mistakes.
Isn't there a steep approach on Lagoona or something, but with like a 7.5 degree approach?
It’s always used on that plane apparently. I photographed a Queen’s Flight BAE 146 a few months ago, and it had airbrakes deployed on short final. Saw many other pictures/videos of BAE 146 landings with deployed airbrakes. Yeah it’s normal.
Not only in city, thats everywhere
Even at my home airport in Canada they land with it extended despite the not super steep glideslope and the runway is 2700m
ITS called A BAe 146 sometimes, 1:03 Pionair is a Airline at my local airport in Sydney.
Nah we just remember this
*BOUCY LANDING IN LONDON*
Yes
Lol ur right
U came back
Good
Bru- 🤣
I was luckily enough able to fly on it with CityJet in 2017 from Newcastle to Paris, probably the quietest flight ive been on. I love it.
Thanks to Korea001,Korean fans increased (South Koreans)

Swiss001:British airport is short of runway requirements
Saba:Am I a joke to you
The Avro kinda looks like a mix between a regional jet and a C130
Swiss: Spawns in BA avro
Swiss Air Avro: Bounces in London City
Video suggestion: "Does the Boeing 727 really need 3 engines?"
Already done i think
I think he already did that
swiss: this plane does not have reverse thrust!
Not even 6 minutes later: This plane has very strong reverse thrust
*Sarcasm*
Lol.
BAHAHHAHAHA
BAE146: Excuse me, *W H A T*
You could edit this plane to have reverse thrust and make a vid about it
Are you the real Vladimir Putin

Hi Swiss...just saying that Aer Lingus still flys the RJ they got it when they rebranded to their new livery
Have a lovely day =)
Aer Lingus actually do still fly Avro RJ 85, from Dublin to London city, I've been in it and its a pretty cool plane.
no
4:40 everyone who watches aeronewsgermany stream: i know that sh*t
7:22 Literally gave a new meaning to the phrase "We pay whole Runway, We use whole Runway"
Swiss001: I PUT THE REVERSE THRUST ALL THE WAY!
Avro RJ: Are you sure about that?
* whole day passes by *
Swiss: now hey guys
Meanwhile Ryanair: Wow, this plane lands really smooth!
Lmao
This comment is underrated
@@muhammadhassan1596 haha thanks mate
The avro’s back flaps looks like a satellite dish when extended.
A plane:has 4 engines
Swiss 001:"is that a 747?"
*A380: has 4 engines*
A340, b707, ilyushin il76 and 96, c5 and c17 joined
4:40 Swiss 001 is a Tom Scott fan confirmed?!1!
If you don’t know what he’s talking about, pause the video and look at the suggestions.
when korea001 doesn't comment: *something is wrong, i can feel it*
after korea001 comments in swiss001's video: perfection
Oh lol I was busy for studying midterm test
7:56 YOU CAN ALWAYS GO AROUND
4:55 Swiss, avro always deploys that speed brake before landing
Not always

i flew the first time in my life from brussels airport to stockholm bromma with the avro rj100, fell in love with this plane, background, plane models,...all avro planes :p
Swiss watching the London City video: "that wasn't that smooth of a landing"
Swiss a few moments later: *literally crashes"
0:02 “747 from wish”
I went spotting at Manchester a few months ago and saw a British Airways Avro
Honestly. One of the smoother landing planes I’ve flown.
The day you uploaded this, i went on my flightradar and saw 2 over luton :/
4:59 In London City, due to the steep approach, the have the speed brakes out until they flare as they need to keep the speed low for landing on the short runway... So not a pilot's mistake :)
Great vid!
And London city has a steep ils gs
@@shanerr7252 I said that
Swiss: I love trying to break the landing gear on the Avro
Swiss RJ100 retirement video: I have come in peace
tbh that plane doesn't look very buttery
6:32 Ah dassy!
Airplane not crashed...
I love the Rj 100
swiss what do you use to edit your videos.
Swiss airline ad: Is this a clickbait?
Fun fact: Mahan air also operates the last passenger 747-300
My country's airline (Skyjet airlines) uses it and flies to an interesting short runway RPUO or Basco airport it has a moutain in front of a runway and its in an island
legends say that the plane is still rolling down the slope
Plane has gone hiking now

the french music was very nice, i really liked the video swiss

“Probably they are not flying around anymore”
Ironically, they were only added to their fleet in 2019 and they are still flying them
They sadly are not any more
I’m pretty sure that’s just because of the pandemic though. Correct me if I’m wrong.
@@leannexu3362 yep it is. It’s because they were owned by city jet and city jet was operating the flights and they retired them.
2:44 The plane is doing goatse..
Swiss001 i heard that still boeing 737 are crashing
@swiss001 you need to fly to Sligo airport (EISG) if you read the wiki page you will understand however it is a really short runway and has a approach like Gibraltar and Madeira combined it’s difficult and definitely a challenge hope you consider and good luck if you decide to go ahead with it 👍
8:01 even the concord can land here don’t embarrass urself my fav part
The AVRO lands really hard
Ryanair:ill take you entire stock
can you do a video on the anti missile systems on israeli passenger aircraft?
Like the DHL 2003 Baghdad (or however you spell it) mid-air attempted shootdown *Airbus A300F used*
4:32 OUWCH i wondering how that will feel in rl.
Did you know that’s swiss want a smooth landing but himself do a hard landing🙃👍🏼
Fences.... you hit the fence @ Catalina
theres a small airline based at CYVR I think that still flies them
Ryanair: another pilot I can hire
7:20 We pay the whole runway
We use the whole runway
