darn ghost... ok forge, you gotta step up your game. at least have a cool stage setup yknow? add to the theme of the show m80.. i still beleive in ghost, even if the original members are gone.
Too bad. The stage performance that was the one thing that really made Ghost a great band is now gone. What is the guy with the lead guitar doing? :-/ Is it Lil Wayne behind that mask? Will see them for the 6th time in Stockholm this weekend and something tells me it will be the last time. Sadly. A one man show Tobias Forge says. You wish! I'll let the posers take it from here.
Kalle Johansson I had the same feelings. This was the third time I saw them, the first one was in 2013 in Italy and I was only 14 and I have to admit that they're completely gone. I mean, what's the point of even seeing a solo project of Forge? Persner and Soderberg and the other older Ghouls had chemistry...but these ones my God no..For example the new pianist which is Zac Baird (former Korn pianist) was always sitting during the performance and I find that really bad cause that's not a Ghoul behaviour let's say
I totally agree, and that's something Tobias seems to completely overlook. While the ghouls look the same, play similarly, and sound the same, they lack chemistry and character. The great thing about the old Ghost lineup is that you could tell they were all good friends that knew each other for years; they had a sort of "touch" to their performance. Now, not so much. I'll still give the new Ghost a chance, however, they really have lost that "touch."
Here I am again, here's a short review. Start of the concert: Entry in a cloud of smoke, as usual, first song; Square Hammer. First thing I notice is the completely different sound. The vintage Led-Zepp-like sound is gone completely. This sounds like a maimstream rock sound. Think Metallica. Sucks for me but perhaps people in general like it. The feeling that you get from stage is kind of awkward. The band feels hesistant and kind of wait and see what the audience reaction is. Perhaps not so strange since Tobias is in his home country after all and the lawsuit against him going on. In Sweden, shit like that don't do you any good, even if you're a rockstar. Oh well, pretty much same same for the next few songs, and very little talk inbetween songs, which is unusual. The main issue: THE GUITARISTS MAKES GHOST LOOK LIKE A COLLEGE-ROCK BAND! Big bummer! It could be blink-182, with black clothes and masks. Lead and rythm guitar are also having problems from time to time to sync their parts and it sounds really off some times. And the solos which lead guitarist seems overly happy with EVERY time he rubs one out, starting to point to the audience, doing the fist pump (WTF!?) is on a much lower level now. And thats pretty bad since Alpha wasn't that great at solos himself. So as you might have understood. It's a completely different sound and stage show that you can expect and a band without chemistry between the members. But since a large portion of the crowd on this gig would'nt recognize a bad gig even if you hit them in the head with it, it really doesen't matter... I know it might sound like Im just a grumpy elitist here, but well, this is also the opinon that I hear from many older fans thats saw them a couple of years ago. Just go and see for yourself is the best I guess. On the bright side of the evening: The openers norwegian band Kvelertak is amazing live!!! Talk about energy, stage prescense and how to work a crowd!! Will definately see them againg when chance given! Sadly it was the last time with Ghost, at least as long as this shit is going on. I still hope Tobias can be humble enough to realize that this is not what their fans enjoy. But again, who am I to call. Just trying to give some information. :)
Kalle Johansson That's cool bro! Thanks for sharing your opinion, much appreciated. I think that this was the last time for me too, with these Ghouls at least. It has been an awesome journey but now I don't find them interesting anymore so yeah...maybe with the new album coming out I'll change my mind, maybe..
nice video, thanks!
cu stevy No problem! :)
