    I really love this anime, its interesting that the "main protagonist" could be considered the pursuit of ideals and truths

      Yeah I love the idea of passing the torch, and the uncertainty all the characters in the show have. Compared to most anime where you know the MC can't die so there's never stakes this high.

    For as many "main character dies in episode 5 just to be revealed to be a fake out death later" we had, orb is a nice breath of fresh air.
    The real main character was the heliocentrism we learned along the way

    Now this is a show to wax philosophical about. An organization built on martyrdom is forced to accept an idea by martyrs.

    The night sky was never quite as beautiful to him as it was when he saw it from a cramped cell looking out a tiny little window.

    Nice choice. Orb is too much underrated outside of Japan.

    20:35 - I believe the poppy seeds actually came from Hubert. He went through torture and having to recant, I think he knew what it would mean for Rafal if he also got captured, that's why he gave him that litlte bag.

    As a Japanese. Whether this animation is historically accurate or not is not a big issue.
    Because this is not a strictly factual animated work.
    As with any other genre of manga or anime, even if it is fiction, we will still be able to relate to and be impressed by the message and drama portrayed in it.
    It is not about whether it is real or not, but whether it is true and convincing as a human being.
    Certainly, this work is fiction, although the model does exist.
    But the story is appreciated and we are convinced because it is convincing even if it is fiction.

      I'm Polish, so I was really hoping for a show that portrays a lot of actual Poland from the middle ages. I didn't get what I wanted, but I got a phenomenal story and a bunch of compelling characters, so I'm definitely not complaining.

    Choosing to die when he just had to lie to save his life could be considered a really idiotic move but as he said it would also mean he’d have to indicate where are hidden the materials to burn them. So all his work and Hubert’s would be for nothing and he’d have to start over from 0. Also after a first offense they’d keep an eye on him so it’s safe to say he would not be able to achieve his research without getting caught. In the end it’s really the best for the truth to spread…

    Y'kno watching this really shows the importance of open minded academic pursuit, and any form of censorship really stunts the growth of human intelligence... And how certain dystopian measure of controling the masses by hindering academic research did exist in the past. Might be interesting rereading Fahrenheit 451 again after Orb

    Manga reader from Japan here🖐️I bearly speak English but translating 知性 as "truth" doesn't sit right to me. It's more like "intelligence", or the whole idea of "to know something".
    it's also one of the meaning the word "チ。" holds, which is the original title of this show.

    • @ElenaInStardew
      @ElenaInStardew 12 дней назад +4

      When I saw the mistranslation, I was really disappointed to Netflix. And they didn't even correct it for episode 15.
      "Chi" has nothing to do with "truth".

    • @nkd743
      @nkd743 6 дней назад +3

      Definitely. It is also important that Rafał implicitly denies that the Church considers the geocentric theory to have been born out of intelligence. To us living in the present day, the geocentric theory appears to be based on faith, but the Church of Orb must have regarded it as intelligence.

    13:44 FYI: The guys find a letter in a stone box, and there is a word "地" (chi/the earth) scribbled on it -- 地 (chi) is one of the interpretations of the title of this anime "チ" (chi).
    Katakana script "チ" (chi) is a phonetic character, just like the English alphabet. What the sound "chi" means is open to interpretation.

    • @Raitooru
      @Raitooru 20 дней назад +2

      But the paper itself says "ziemia" which in Polish means "the Earth", so in this case the meaning of "chi" is pretty distinct

    • @kazuhisanakatani1209
      @kazuhisanakatani1209 20 дней назад +4

      @@Raitooru My comment is for non-Japanese speakers who would not be able to know one of the interpretations of the name of this manga/anime appearing here. In the same manner, "open to interpretation" is information for those who have no idea what Katakana is and therefore don't know why this manga/anime is called "チ" in Katakana.

    • @attiamazen4614
      @attiamazen4614 17 дней назад +1

      @@kazuhisanakatani1209 There's nothing "open for interpretation" about what you said. It's self-explainatory.

    • @kazuhisanakatani1209
      @kazuhisanakatani1209 17 дней назад +1

      @@attiamazen4614 The katakana "チ" only indicates the sound "chi", and it is obvious that the original manga author Uoto deliberately named his work チ in katakana because it is open to interpretation.
      The most likely interpretations of チ are 地 (chi/the earth), 知 (chi/knowledge) and 血 (chi/blood), but it could be anything that can be read as "chi" since the katakana characters are just phonetic symbols.
      FYI, ep.10 and ep.11 are called 知 (chi/knowledge) and 血 (chi/blood) respectively in Japanese, implying that pivotal moments are described in it. My wild guess is that the title of the final episode will be 地 (chi/the earth).

    This show is one I was interested in but was putting off on watching, so I'm watching along with the bros for the first time, so I don't really know what happens next.
    But seeing various comments with a lot of votes talking about who the protagonist is really gives me the vibes that Rafal survived and they burned someone else, because people in the comments are never as subtle as they think they are when talking about spoilers.
