Yeah the world is messed up in a whole other way but we certainly did dream it away. A song about the how messed up the world is that children have to kill their parents to save themselves from abuse... We turn a blind eye to those in need of us the most and slowly becoming more apathetic to our peers. When it becomes our turn to be the one in need we often times blame other for faults without even realizing it. Just look at where all this turning a blind eye and not caring has gotten us. As far as america goes, there is rioting without understanding. People are congregating and spreading a deadly disease which has infected multiple in my family and taken one, none of which were protestors. BLM aside, there are people protesting the efficacy of wearing a mask during a pandemic. They are protesting a deadly disease by not wearing masks because it is what trump wants us to wear. These are like 20-40ish year old women/mothers. People just dont care for anyone but themselves, not their neighbor, friends, spouses or children. This isnt everyone but it is a far more than you can imagine.

I wish I could relate to this as a fiction writer, but it feels way too much like the real world now. I used to think I could rely on something, but I get let down every single time. I thought I would only get let down by individuals, not ideas or by people in general. I was always told people nowadays are enlightened and too smart to stoop to horrible stuff, and as someone who values knowledge, I believed it. One time, I heard about something and got worried, so I researched about it and I was told, "Oh, we'll NEVER stoop that low! Common sense will surely keep us safe!" And years later, the unthinkable happens, and the institutions I valued aren't batting an eye. Since then, I've learned about other unimaginable stuff people these days flat-out enable. When it comes to anything to believe in, I feel like I have nothing to turn to. The phrase "Keep on through these interesting times" just feels hollow, as the only way I could is by forcing myself to ignore the problems that bother me the most. I already have anxiety to fight off every day, and the thought that someone might harm me is always lurking somewhere. Everything I've learned these past years has made it a formidable enemy. I just wish I could do something meaningful and change things for the better. Instead, I have to try and think far ahead if I want to do anything. I spent my entire life thinking that if I'm smart enough, I can change things, but when I saw the "wise and compassionate" move the goal posts, it completely destroyed me. I wish I could relate to this as a fiction writer, but it feels way too much like the real world now. I used to think I could rely on something, but I get let down every single time. I thought I would only get let down by individuals, not ideas or by people in general. I was always told people nowadays are enlightened and too smart to stoop to horrible stuff, and as someone who values knowledge, I believed it. One time, I heard about something and got worried, so I researched about it and I was told, "Oh, we'll NEVER stoop that low! Common sense will surely keep us safe!" And years later, the unthinkable happens, and the institutions I valued aren't batting an eye. Since then, I've learned about other unimaginable stuff people these days flat-out enable. When it comes to anything to believe in, I feel like I have nothing to turn to.
The phrase "Keep on through these interesting times" just feels hollow, as the only way I could is by forcing myself to ignore the problems that bother me the most. I already have anxiety to fight off every day, and the thought that someone might harm me is always lurking somewhere. Everything I've learned these past years has made it a formidable enemy. I just wish I could do something meaningful and change things for the better. Instead, I have to try and think far ahead if I want to do anything. I spent my entire life thinking that if I'm smart enough, I can change things, but when I saw the "wise and compassionate" move the goal posts, it completely destroyed me. And even then, I'm still scared I'll look like an idiot.
The people that goaded me to be the "smart for a Christian" person made me feel stupid and powerless in ways I couldn't see coming. I feel like a failure.
