Superb video Andy, still gutted we missed you, got some great shots there and this was a wonderful presentation. Your keen eye handled those varied colour, part colour and black and white shots perfectly. Will be interesting to see what you do with the photography edit 👍
Thanks guys. It's a hugely busy event and it's hard to know where to start filming and trying to capture the many goths on camera. All the 'photos' are just stills from the video which I edited. People walked past so fast I thought it made sense to pause them momenterily with a picture.
@ yeah that’s the best way to get many of them, think you captured a lot of great natural shots that way, it will be interesting to see how that compares to the shots where they posed. On the busy streets I just slow the video right down and focus in on them but the photo snaps were a cool inclusion.
Such an incredible atmosphere at the Whitby Goth Weekend! The costumes, the energy, and the 4K footage really bring the event to life. We loved watching this unique celebration! Thanks for sharing with us, Best wishes, Chiara & Donato Fuoridalsentiero
Nice one Andy, good footage and some good photos too. A fun day out as always and good to bump into you at the festival too and yes, I was stuffed, that pie and mash was fantastic :o). Cheers Alan
Thanks Alan, it was good to see you again. I spotted your jacket from the otherside of the churchyard. It was a great day out. I can't believe you managed the steps again after what you'd put away :)
Excellent video Andy, so fun to see around the WGW with you. It was awesome to see the beach in all it's glory! some incredible costumes, lots of innovative and creative costumes that are so fun to see. Loved the photo's! What a fun event!
Thank you Alessa, it's such a busy event, quite noisy too so it's not easy to vlog. There are all sorts of genres there from your traditional goths, those who like to dress up for the weekend, the steampunks and cosplayers. I did do a video for my other channel which features some posed photos, the shots in this video were just candid snaps editied from the footage so people could see the people and the outfits better.
Whitby Goth Weekend looks like such a unique experience! True photographer started off bright and early, even if the crowd took its time to recover from the night before 🍻. The 199 steps to the Abbey had me out of breath, you deserve a medal for that climb! Very cool meeting fellow RUclipsrs like Alan along the way, great to have that community in the real world. Thanks for showing us around; the festival vibe, historic spots, and all the fun moments, and you got some great shots as always!
The 199 steps were certainly a shock to the system 😳 I did manage it in one go, but a sit down was needed when I got to the top. It's a great festival and a great place to visit. Thanks for watching 🙂.
Hi Andy, I really enjoyed your fabulous tour around Whitby during the Goth weekend! I loved your retro photo feature. It was fun to see the all wonderful costumes up close. You captured some amazing footage. Hehe, glad you made it to the top of the steps! 😅Great to see Alan making an appearance! 👍 Thanks for a great vlog ❤❤
@The_Brit_Girls Thanks for watching and commenting, ladies. It was a great event, I'm sure I'll be back again. It was great to bump into Alan, he was difficult to miss in that jacket.
Very much enjoyed watching. You captured this event so well. Very well edited and put together beautifully. Sorry, we are only just catching up. It's been a hectic few weeks for us, but we will always get round to watching. Big thumbs up 👍😊❤️
Hi Andy, really enjoyed your walk around Whitby, so many fantastic costumes, a lot of time put into making them im sure. Great photo's , thank you for sharing x Julie and Tony x
Loved this look around Goth Weekend! I left you a longer comment on your other video, but I really enjoyed the video portion - seeing what it is all about! JoAnna loved it as well. She wants me to book a trip 😂
Great location choice for the event Andy and some outstanding costumes on parade. We enjoyed a flying visit to Whitby in August but didn't get chance to do the 199 steps or Abbey - another time and hopefully some photography. Loved the photos !
Thanks Andrew, those candid shots in this video were taken with the phone but I do have one to put together with photos from the Nikon. Whitby is a great place for photos all year round.
Thanks for watching, folks. I'm never 100% convinced many of those dress up are genuine goths these days, but it does make for an interesting spectacle.
Hello we always wanted to go here but evertime we go we cant park anywere lol so end up in scarbrough we will get there one day as want to see where they filmed the grand tour lovely video really enjoyed and full watch from new friends The Ellmers Adventures ❤️👍☺️
@theellmersadventures hi guys, I highly recommend the Park and Ride when visiting Whitby. It is Motorhome friendly too. Parking is free and you just pay for the bus fare.
This was awesome Andy. Loved how you added the photos. W ehave Goth festivals here too- haven't been myself for years but husband and brother in law go. This was great. I am trying to get them to come across for this next year. Have a great weekend. 🇳🇱🙋♀🥝
Thanks, Yasmin. It was definitely hard to spot people in the crowd. We all need jazzy jackets like Alan 😀 I think the video has got good views because it's a really popular event, you'll have to pop together a video of your shots too.
@ I can try to it may be a short video as I didn’t film a lot when I was there. I still find it hard asking if I can take peoples photos too even though everyone I did ask was fine with it. It’s probably just a confidence thing 😅 so I didn’t take as many photos as I’d like. Think I will go again and do more photography there though as it’s a good spot to practice portraits.
The Goth weekend has been on my list for ages and something always seems to come up and scupper my plans. I think your shots got better throughout the video. I usually find the same with street photography - you kind of loosen up over time. All really good though. I think the pumpkin heads were my fave. 😊
Thanks for watching Robert. I wasn't intending to put any stills in the video but found that I was walking past people and not capturing them for long enough. All the images were just hots lifted from the video footage.
Class andy pal i watched Alan's vlog and seen you guys bumb into each other looked a good day the guys put a effort in here you got some great photos here got to love whitby it's always got stuff going on and a felt your pain there with the steps of doom 😂 oxygen mask eh class mate good show around
@Butchyboysadventures Cheers Butchy. I met Alan a while back on a group walk around Lordstones and again earlier this year on another RUclips meet-up. Whitby is always a great place to visit. Thanks for watching.
Now that certainly is quite the weekend! Now Andy, where is your outfit!!?? Oh well, at least you are decked out in some black! LOL Just all out having themselves a great time...which is always great to see. Awesome there, Andy!!
It's a great event Bruce, there is music on an evening, a goth market (selling clothing, ornaments, candles, you name it) and other entertainment too. I didn't get dressed up but my wardrobe for the day was suitably monochrome 😄 Whitby is a great place at the best of times but when it's busy like this it's on another level. I still took time out for some fish & chips though. I hope you're have a great weekend with Otis.
I'm *not* a goth, but I like gothic things, and I love the town/city of Whitby. If I could, I would have played Don't Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult, and It's a Sin by the Pet Shop Boys in the background
Yes there were a good few Steampunks along with what I would call Cosplayers. Some of the traditional Goths aren't impressed according to what I have read in some social media groups.

Absolutely fascinating, and Whitby looks a very interesting place just to visit on it's own.
@johnregan2443 Whitby is definitely worth visiting anytime of year. Thanks for watching 🙂

Loved that Andy..some great shots there.
Thanks Stephen, I thought I'd add the stills to give a bit more emphasis to the goths as they passed by so quickly in the crowd.
Oh I missed your premiere. I thought it was 6.30 🙈
Oh no - you can always watch it later.
Great Whitby Goth weekend in autumn.
It's a great event. Roll on next spring for the next one.

@paulcookphotography get that trip booked. They have bands playing on an evening. The Abbey is lit up for the evenings, too.
That was great Andy 😁👍
@PhilipOlsen11 Thanks, Phil. I have the video of photos I took on my dslr premiering on my photography channel tonight.

Enjoyed that mate. You captured some good costumes and made the atmosphere real. Top work mate. 👍🏻👌🏻👌🏻🚶🏻♂️
Thanks Watto - I don't know how you found it but such a busy event, it's hard to know where, when and who to film.
We Brits do like to dress up in costumes! Great video and good to see all the characters. Keith
Thanks Keith - I got some good photos for the photography channel too. I'm busy trying to cobble (sorry carefully craft) that video together.
