Just what I needed, ive been having so much difficulty with the Chipp Matchup lately. Looks like the solution is to simply not let him play the video game. It also doesnt help that I rarely see him, and when I do its always a level 600+ Chipp prodigy.
I'm level 2000, and I still struggle with chipp occasionally. My best advice is to hold your ground, and don't let him just run up on you. Sol has some decent buttons to help control space around him, so make use of that
Im pretty new to chipp and the game but just be wary of his pressure and speed because he has tools to get in compared to most of the cast. Also has tons of mixups in the corner with his wall run and jump cancel aerials. Be wary of jumping out of pressure as he can hard punish air dashes
As an (obvious) chipp main, I will note that the best way to beat Chipp is to just not mash. Chipp mains have to learn early on to read and react due to his absurd damage modifier, so they are pretty much some of the best in the game at punishing bad buttons and otherwise bad decisions. Even some low damage characters can meterlessly almost one shot chipp with a wall break if he can't burst, so you really only need 1 or 2 decent chances to take a round off a Chipp. Just force them to come down to your speed rather then trying to move up to their speed, if that makes any sense> Also chipp HATES disjointed projectiles if you have those (Gunflame, Kys fireball, Happy chaos in general, Goldlewis Minigun) as they are capable of both stopping Zansei rouga and keeping all of his best neutral options from being as safe as they normally are. Ofc those tricks aren't being really used in this video but, top of the line chipp players have to learn how to perfectly play around stuff like that. Also, just ignore the player level, I'm a floor 10 almost celestial chipp player and only level 74. (Granted I was taught by a guy whos consistently top 100 in chipp rankings, but its really closer to being about your natural reaction time and talent then anything else.)
I'm sorry, but as someone that recently got the game and has poured a good few hours into him, I'm gonna say I'm insta dodging potekmin and sol. Only until I get good enough ig
3:58 this sequence is so insane it lets me know I have so much improvement left to make as a Chipp player 😭
