Just thought I should note that I know the OC button on the iGame is a BIOS switch (the card has a dual BIOS) and you have to reset for the BIOS switch to occur. Rather than joke around I should have been clearer in the review. After a reset the card loads with the same settings, at first I thought the button was broken but it looks like my early sample has the same normal BIOS for both profiles. Anyway, not a great card, should probably avoid.

From what I resold the 3070 for I was able to buy the 3080 ti and the money I made mining is more than double the ~500 dollars it cost to step up from the 3080 ti to the 3090. Plus I paid 60 bucks to get EVGA’s extended warranty for 10 years of warranty on my 3080 ti. But that automatically gets applied to my 3090. 3090 might actually make use of that 10 year warranty as 24 gigs of vram is just not even close to whats needed in video games these days. Very excited. Oh and I can make more money mining since no hash rate limit on 3090 haha

It will be very interesting to see what real high end AMD GPUs can do. If the 6800 and 6800xt are anything like advertised, in both price and performance, with no driver issues the 3070 is basically a dead card for everyone except the most diehard invidiots.
@@ultrademigod it depends now, i build my first pc this winter and i chose a 5700 xt because i thought "hey, similar performance to 2070 super for way less money, its a steal" and then i got fucked so hard by all kinds of game crashes, screen going black and even full on pc crashes. tried a shit ton of driver versions, some issues were fixed in some drivers, while other appeared. Now im just waiting for the 3070 to drop a bit in price since its nowhere close to msrp and then I'll get one so i can get rid of this shitty 5700xt

And that is not even accounting to the fact that the 6800 has to use S.A.M to be able to beat the 3070 for at least 15% to justify the price increase. And they never showed any benchmark with stock settings which is very fishy, and people shouldn't fall into the pit of the first party benchmarks that are cherry picked. This is pretty much the same case with Nvidia's RTX 3080 2x performance of RTX 2080 again.
What's the point to get a 3070, when a 3080 just cost $90 more. Ripoff. Just take the cheapest hot and loud 3080 you can find instead, performs so much better.
So did I! got a list of graphics cards that I’ve been watching for months (waiting for one to come in stock) and this popped up on my lunch break and had no time to hesitate...but seems like I landed a really great Graphics Card based on these reviews.
The colorful card was the only 3070 i could buy for the 1st 24 hours of release at reasonable price, the only thing that stopped me was the horrible "igame" logo lol dodged a bullet there

I was sold on a 3070, before the AMD announcement, of the 6800 series... since I can't get a 3070, I am waiting for the reviews of the new AMD options, and we will see how AMD's launch goes

This iGame is in my opinion one of the most unique versions, and in a good way. Really beautifull. Edt: EVGA does not look any worse, and the temps are much better.
By the way the cooler looks on the iGame and the temps, I'd assume there's some problem with mounting. It really shouldn't have such bad temps with that cooler. I'm hoping Gamers Nexus takes a look at this and finds out where the problem lies.
@@nofekun1889 Well, to be fair, the temps are still within specs and nowhere near dangerous. Shouldn't be a problem in a case with good airflow. It's just weird. The cooler could also perform somewhat differently with a 3060, or it might be just a bad unit they got. If you're not sure, check some other reviews as well, for your exact card, preferrably. Product lines with serious problems are pretty rare, but research is always good. But considering the current GPU situation, if you want a 3060ti and you can get it for the store price, you should probably go for it.

@@nofekun1889 Well if the cooler is exactly the same, there should be no problem dealing with less heat from 3060ti. And like I said, even these temps are totally ok. Just not a very efficient cooler. If it's the only version you can get, get it.
One thing you got incorrect was about the overclock button on the back. The overclock will not be applied UNTIL you reboot the system, after pressing the OC button. It’s presence doesn’t personally make much sense to me, I just thought you should know.

wow the holes in the pcb on the EVGA card are really good, much better then making the pcb really short and full of heat like the founders edition card, this gives best of both worlds really, a pcb with heat producing parts relatively spread out and fans that dont have to blow everything around the pcb... really nice design and it looks like it works!
I think it was pretty obvious from the start that the Colorful - one would be bad and the FTW3 would perform well. At least I wasn't surprised by the results.
Once again, I think you REALLY need to acknowledge that the EVGA models are the cheapest available in your native Australia from PLE, which makes them a great purchase for fellow Aussies relative to all others AIB models that are more aggressively price gouging.
@@billlam7756 no its not lol. The msrp for the 3080 is $699. You can get aib models from $699 as well. If you want the fancier ones yes they're gonna cost more. I know because I bought my 3080 at best buy for $699+tax and my brother got the msi ventus for $750+tax

@@billlam7756 Here in the U.S.A. base model 3080's are $699. AIB cards run from a manufacturers msrp of $699 to $809 which currently the most expensive model seems to be the EVGA ULTRA OC model. A lot of 3080 AIB models are in the $750-$780 range. Also the EVGA ULTRA OC model is what you hear most people are being able to purchase on the most regular basis. Not surprising though that a company will produce more of its most expensive offering when they know due to demand they will sell all they can produce instantly. They are all very hard to get but many models can be had with patience and being in the right place at the right time. The FE models after initial launch sellout seem to be the non existent models. This is just what I have observed or heard about here in the U.S.A.

@@pakneger5878 That's not how it works though... It's true that AMD cards hold their value worse than Nvidia due to brand perception, but that has nothing to do with AIB pricing. AIB pricing is whatever they need to hit the profit margins they want for the cards they're making without sacrificing too much market share to their competitors... What prices cards sell for down the line have nothing to do with it.
@Jeff T to be honest, no. Sapphire made the pulse 5700XT like 10 dollars over msrp, and the NITRO+ at 40 dollars. Anyhow the 3070 reference design is super minimal and not even cool to see, while this 3 fan card seems to be bigger in general and surely much better looking for 580 dollars.
I managed to get my hands on an MSI RTX Ventus 3X 3070 from Micro Center on launch day. I didn't really have a choice on which brand or version of the card as I was just given what was available. What's your opinion on this particular card?
@@tma2001 are you sure it works that way? The cards that were benchmarked outputs more or less the same heat , while the igame was toasty , the rest of them dissipated heat more efficiently thus you'd be feeling the heat more in your room , no?
@@freakenste The heat doesn't disappear if more gets absorbed by the PC, it all goes into the room anyhow quickly or slowly. You'd only feel the heat more if it's blowing straight at you.
I just got my hands on the EVGA 3070 FTW3 Ultra, and I'm trying to understand if the card is designed to reduce sag out of the box. So far it seems to be holding pretty tightly, but as I travel with my tower sometimes, I'm wondering if a custom sag bracket is worth the trouble.
I hope you enjoy your new graphics card. I just got the same one, and I will definitely be getting some sort of sag bracket due to how big the cards are getting. If my 1060 is sagging slightly right now, then this one definitely will too. Alternatively, you could just build one out of legos like many people do.

dissappointed at colorful. They perform well on 3080 and 3090 though.. The asus tuf is a really card to get for all RTX 3000 series, price-performance and thermals

Colorful cards are bulky but the asus tuf ones are still best in price to performance and thermals. Granted, these are last years data. When I wanted a tuf 3080
Nice Video as always. Can you check the mounting pressure of the Colorful IGAME? The cooling performance doesn't really line up with the weight of the cooler. I mean other coolers with similar weight and slightly different designs perform waaay better. Maybe you can borrow some shorter screws / standoffs from another cooler. Could be like the first 5700XTs from ASUS, which were later fixed and replaced with the EVO models.
OMG 110 dollars more for the evga one? Checking the prices in my country aaaaaand the cheapest model is 720 Euros (yes more expensive than the 3080 MSRP) hmm maybe 610$ isn't so bad after all.
Will be very interesting to see how some of the cheaper 6800 models compare to the 3070. I got my 2080 for $570 and wouldn't mind a slight upgrade as it doesn't get some of my games up to 144Hz at 1440p and don't really want to spend more than I did last time.

Over $100+ as compared to base MSRP is a common trait for all of the EVGA "ultra" OC cards on every tier of a series and although somewhat on the high side in price EVGA has been known for decades to have excellent customer service and warranty handling on their GPU cards at least here in the U.S.A. When you are dropping this type of coin for a video card is it not worth a few dollars of that entrance price to feel like if you do get unlucky and have a problem the warranty process will be handled quickly and be fairly painless? Some companies may be a bit cheaper but also some of them are not known for their stellar customer service either. Given a choice I would spend the few extra dollars for the peace of mind.
I own a Colorful iGame GTX 960 triple fan. It was a decent amount cheaper than EVGA, and performs as GTX 960 should, overclocks well, not noisy, not hot enough that it worries you, but it looks rather ugly, but not horrendous. Cheaper stuff that does the job is a poor man's way to go.
Before benchmarking Steve benchmarks the most efficient method of benchmarking, and once more options became available benchmarks the new methods as well - of course re-benchmarking the old methods just in case the weakest link, Steve himself, has changed in compatibility.

Monthly Q&A question. I'm using a monitor that has a resolution of 1920x1080 (Asus VG279Q). I have noticed during a benchmark that there is a note about not being able to run at the native resolution of 3840x2160 and there is a FPS penalty. However, the test will complete, and give an overall score. My question is, would using a 4k monitor with 3840x2160 "increase" the overall score at the end? Or does the benchmark already take into account the FPS penalty? (P.S. I just ordered FTW 3 Ultra. I got a really good deal through Amazon. The catch? Sign up for Amazon Visa card and get it for $100 off and get 18 mos interest free financing (which I don't need). Although I don't like credit cards in general I had to give this some thought. In th end I really wanted the GPU and that price was too good to pass up.
The NR200 claims 330mm GPU length clearance, 280 for the Ncase M1. And those are the best itx cases around imho. So the igame would fit the cheaper of them, and the squat depth would mean ur not kinking the power connectors fitting it in a itx case, where it'll fit. Edit: after seeing those temps, not sure why you'd get the igame for a compact build tho...

Looking to buy an evga 3070 ftw3 from my buddy for a real good price. Just checking reviews and I’m seeing great thermals just like my evga 2070 black. Sucks that evga no longer makes video cards. All of my evga cards have always clocked way higher speeds out of the box before manually overclocking. My 2070 hits over 2ghz overclocked.

Well, the EVGA model is ~ $70 over MSRP at this time. Which honestly, isn't that bad. One would expect to use this card for easily over 3 years.

One thing you got incorrect was about the overclock button on the back. The overclock will not be applied UNTIL you reboot the system, after pressing the OC button. It’s presence doesn’t personally make much sense to me, I just thought you should know.

wow the holes in the pcb on the EVGA card are really good, much better then making the pcb really short and full of heat like the founders edition card, this gives best of both worlds really, a pcb with heat producing parts relatively spread out and fans that dont have to blow everything around the pcb... really nice design and it looks like it works!
I think it was pretty obvious from the start that the Colorful - one would be bad and the FTW3 would perform well. At least I wasn't surprised by the results.

the oc button is a bios switch , so it needs a pc restart to take action . just like the bios switch on the strix cards
Once again, I think you REALLY need to acknowledge that the EVGA models are the cheapest available in your native Australia from PLE, which makes them a great purchase for fellow Aussies relative to all others AIB models that are more aggressively price gouging.

3080 is 799, AIB cards are 850 to 1000.
@@billlam7756 no its not lol. The msrp for the 3080 is $699. You can get aib models from $699 as well. If you want the fancier ones yes they're gonna cost more. I know because I bought my 3080 at best buy for $699+tax and my brother got the msi ventus for $750+tax
@@PrettyboyPa theres not a whole lot of AIB for 799. Nobody want a zotac lol. The people that went AIB usually willing to buy them more expensive variants. Only reason they buying everything cuz of stock issues. Most aib cards are around 850++
@@billlam7756 Here in the U.S.A. base model 3080's are $699. AIB cards run from a manufacturers msrp of $699 to $809 which currently the most expensive model seems to be the EVGA ULTRA OC model.
A lot of 3080 AIB models are in the $750-$780 range.
Also the EVGA ULTRA OC model is what you hear most people are being able to purchase on the most regular basis. Not surprising though that a company will produce more of its most expensive offering when they know due to demand they will sell all they can produce instantly.
They are all very hard to get but many models can be had with patience and being in the right place at the right time.
The FE models after initial launch sellout seem to be the non existent models. This is just what I have observed or heard about here in the U.S.A.

@@pakneger5878 That's not how it works though... It's true that AMD cards hold their value worse than Nvidia due to brand perception, but that has nothing to do with AIB pricing. AIB pricing is whatever they need to hit the profit margins they want for the cards they're making without sacrificing too much market share to their competitors... What prices cards sell for down the line have nothing to do with it.

Anyhow the 3070 reference design is super minimal and not even cool to see, while this 3 fan card seems to be bigger in general and surely much better looking for 580 dollars.
AMD cards will probably be out of stock very quickly just like the Nvidia cards.

@@tma2001 are you sure it works that way? The cards that were benchmarked outputs more or less the same heat , while the igame was toasty , the rest of them dissipated heat more efficiently thus you'd be feeling the heat more in your room , no?
@@freakenste The heat doesn't disappear if more gets absorbed by the PC, it all goes into the room anyhow quickly or slowly. You'd only feel the heat more if it's blowing straight at you.
I just got my hands on the EVGA 3070 FTW3 Ultra, and I'm trying to understand if the card is designed to reduce sag out of the box. So far it seems to be holding pretty tightly, but as I travel with my tower sometimes, I'm wondering if a custom sag bracket is worth the trouble.
I hope you enjoy your new graphics card. I just got the same one, and I will definitely be getting some sort of sag bracket due to how big the cards are getting. If my 1060 is sagging slightly right now, then this one definitely will too. Alternatively, you could just build one out of legos like many people do.

Hmmm weird for Colorful iGame it consumes less power but a little bit hotter in temps than other RTX 3070 cards.

Can you check the mounting pressure of the Colorful IGAME? The cooling performance doesn't really line up with the weight of the cooler. I mean other coolers with similar weight and slightly different designs perform waaay better. Maybe you can borrow some shorter screws / standoffs from another cooler. Could be like the first 5700XTs from ASUS, which were later fixed and replaced with the EVO models.

OMG 110 dollars more for the evga one? Checking the prices in my country aaaaaand the cheapest model is 720 Euros (yes more expensive than the 3080 MSRP) hmm maybe 610$ isn't so bad after all.
Bought mine today, in Brazil. The FTW3 was just 7% more expensive than the cheapest 3070, and a 3080 would be 60% more.
Will be very interesting to see how some of the cheaper 6800 models compare to the 3070. I got my 2080 for $570 and wouldn't mind a slight upgrade as it doesn't get some of my games up to 144Hz at 1440p and don't really want to spend more than I did last time.

Over $100+ as compared to base MSRP is a common trait for all of the EVGA "ultra" OC cards on every tier of a series and although somewhat on the high side in price EVGA has been known for decades to have excellent customer service and warranty handling on their GPU cards at least here in the U.S.A.
When you are dropping this type of coin for a video card is it not worth a few dollars of that entrance price to feel like if you do get unlucky and have a problem the warranty process will be handled quickly and be fairly painless?
Some companies may be a bit cheaper but also some of them are not known for their stellar customer service either. Given a choice I would spend the few extra dollars for the peace of mind.

I own a Colorful iGame GTX 960 triple fan. It was a decent amount cheaper than EVGA, and performs as GTX 960 should, overclocks well, not noisy, not hot enough that it worries you, but it looks rather ugly, but not horrendous. Cheaper stuff that does the job is a poor man's way to go.
Before benchmarking Steve benchmarks the most efficient method of benchmarking, and once more options became available benchmarks the new methods as well - of course re-benchmarking the old methods just in case the weakest link, Steve himself, has changed in compatibility.
According to Jay (of JayzTwoCents), the OC button basically just switches between the normal and the OC VBIOS

guys, do you have plans to have some site with searchable/filterable ranking of gpus/monitors? you have a great and detailed review, and it's cool to verify your choice if you already selected a model you'd like to purchase, though initial comparison with a full year of videos is quite hard, especially with all those panel types and screen sizes you review.

You need to restart the pc after clicking the oc button in colorful cards to get into oc mode
Yeah tried that. The button didn't light up as it was advertised to.
The button is a BIOS switch you need to restart the PC for it to apply the settings.

Monthly Q&A question. I'm using a monitor that has a resolution of 1920x1080 (Asus VG279Q). I have noticed during a benchmark that there is a note about not being able to run at the native resolution of 3840x2160 and there is a FPS penalty. However, the test will complete, and give an overall score. My question is, would using a 4k monitor with 3840x2160 "increase" the overall score at the end? Or does the benchmark already take into account the FPS penalty? (P.S. I just ordered FTW 3 Ultra. I got a really good deal through Amazon. The catch? Sign up for Amazon Visa card and get it for $100 off and get 18 mos interest free financing (which I don't need). Although I don't like credit cards in general I had to give this some thought. In th end I really wanted the GPU and that price was too good to pass up.

The NR200 claims 330mm GPU length clearance, 280 for the Ncase M1. And those are the best itx cases around imho. So the igame would fit the cheaper of them, and the squat depth would mean ur not kinking the power connectors fitting it in a itx case, where it'll fit.
Edit: after seeing those temps, not sure why you'd get the igame for a compact build tho...

In my country the EVGA cards are super limited in quantity (especially the FTW versions) and the prices are well above msrp. So I just gone ahead and buy the iGame version. I am going to enjoy it as I have secured a unit with the worldwide shortage situation.

All of my evga cards have always clocked way higher speeds out of the box before manually overclocking. My 2070 hits over 2ghz overclocked.

The EVGA 3070 Has a OC /Dual Bios switch as per 6.32 in the Video, Was this reviewed? What does this do! maybe I missed it?
The OC button on the iGame GPU requires restarting the computer after pressing the button to implement the OC BIOS on the card.

Hardware Unboxed if i remember correctly that switch on i Colorful iGame is dual bios switch. But in order to work every time you flip the switch you need to restart pc to have efect.
