UConn really can’t afford to lose anyone definitely not the heart and soul of the team. She’s been consistently the best player on the court every night I really hope it was just a stinger it’ll probably hurt a ton tomorrow.
Knee to the back of the head, more likely to be a concussion. Stingers usually come from impact on the Brachial Plexus during rugby style shoulder tackles.

A lot of UConn fans were quick to criticize CW, EW, and ONO. But one thing about them, they were all pretty durable. The best ability is availability.
Eh. Loved Evina. Wouldn’t say she was durable. She had left knee surgery her transfer year and redshirted because of it. And in last year’s championship game she clearly tweaked something. I always felt like she couldn’t handle playing the forward spot and getting physical in the post because of her knees and she was meant to be a guard. She tried though. But coming off the bench as a two guard was where she shined. Liv and Williams never got hurt because they always faded in tougher physical games. It’s like they were afraid to be there or something. Liv was afraid to be physical in the low post and Williams was afraid to drive to the hoop against tough defenses.

I feel so horrible for UConn, having the absolute worst luck with injuries the past couple years...
It’s like Anthony “Day to day” Davis shook each UCONN members’ hands the last 2 years and passed whatever it is he has to them.

Nika has a concussion so she should probably sit out Sunday’s game.
I know that’s not good for the team but I’m more concerned with her long-term cognitive ability.
They say there’s no such thing as a minor concussion. She needs rest to get her brain healed from that collision.

I understand it was an accident, but her own teammate knees her in the back of the head (which could have been serious) puts her hands up, looks at her, and then just trots on down the court and leaves her.... Wow....

It was a very unfortunate collision.
The irony is that Aaliyah’s nose injury is courtesy of an errant elbow by Nika in practice. Basketball really is a contact sport.

There’s tough and then there’s Nika tough. She got up and walked it off. I’m sure they had to follow concussion protocol or she would have (ill advisedly) gone back in.

Nika misses some games every season. It is not a total surprise that she took a knock.

UConn is really getting broken, this team can’t catch a break. Pretty much if the team is 100% healthy they would no doubt be #1. But they will keep dropping as their best available players get hurt one by one. Maybe one of these years we will see them all healthy and destroying everyone.
In my opinion, not Nika’s accident, but the continued injuries to Fudd and Becker are due to over training and not giving their bodies adequate recovery time. Like the Women’s gymnastic teams of the past. Their dedication is admirable but someone needs to see they are not overtraining and giving their bodies adequate rest and recovery! My two cents. I hope Nika is ok!

She’s a big, she gets pushed around and run into all game so ofc she’s going to be on the floor more than others also she’s not off balance, they’re taught to fall now when they get hit to help absorb impact so they don’t get hurt. UConn fans, I mean the Real UConn Fans, the ones that know the game. The ones that know UConn Womens B Ball. Do what you always do and support the women Huskies in the good times and in the bad times. Injuries are going to happen. I don't like it when we lose, but it's part of the game. I like when we win, it's part of the game. I don't like injuries, it's part of the game, and in all sports there are injuries. But for you part time wanna be fans, go away. How do you comment that AE did this on purpose. Who do we blame for coach Chris D. getting faint ? Why don't you try to be a fan and support the Huskies ? Go back and look at the previous years of the UConn women. They had injuries which probably cast them a few National Championships, at least two. If you can't be a true supporter, then do the rest of us a favor, don't comment. Paige, Azzi, Nika, Dorka, are all hearts and souls of the Huskies. Nika plays her game and is good at her game, just as the others are good at their game. We will have a few loses, but that won't stop the women from pouring their hearts out. The one that accidently provided the knee is the same player that ran into another players knee in a video I just saw earlier, taking them out for weeks. Not to mention this player is wearing a mask herself. Seems like she is accident prone.
It’s called basketball. Players are running around and moving at full speeds obviously accidents are gonna happen. In regards to the other video do you expect her to have eyes in the back of her head. She got pushed backwards how is she gonna see behind her to know Azzi was right there
A Notre Dame player inadvertently pushed the mask wearer (Aaliyah) into the teammate (Azzi) and in this situation an opposing player inadvertently knocked Nika to the ground and Aaliyah was just pursuing the potential rebound like a good player should. It’s not her fault. These things happen and Aaliyah is bound to be around it when she’s one of the hardest working players that gets a ton of minutes, too. It’s unfortunate that injuries happen, but she is far from accident prone.

They are cursed, No elite team in the country has lost key players in abundance as UConn the past 2 years. One was enough with Paige but Azzi and Nika combined, offset her loss some, and now they lost those 2 and howabout Dorka and Caroline as well as Ice Brady. How many players have So. Carolina, Stanford, and Notre Dame lost, particulary the Miles girl who is for real.

There’s a difference between walking/ light jog and jumping/ twisting a knee. Most acl recovery they’re starting to run 3 months before they can start to play a game of basketball, it’s all part of the recovery process so that they don’t get re injured like Paige did
Paige tore her ACL in early August. So she’s about four months into recovery/rehab. Personally, I would be concerned if she couldn’t walk at this point. That would be a very bad sign lol. It’s one thing to do day to day normal activities vs. going out and playing competitively in physical basketball games. She’s on the mend but she can’t play at the level that’s needed right now. She’ll get there. As for Azzi it doesn’t seem so bad that she can’t walk or do basic day to day things either she even tried to re-enter the ND game but clearly couldn’t move well. She needs the 3-6 weeks apparently to get back to being herself so it seems. Geno has to play the long game on some of this stuff, what can you do.
Are you really that clueless? Have you ever played a competitive sport like basketball? There is a TREMENDOUS difference between walking or even running in a straight line and the constant stop/start/pivot/change direction needed to play basketball especially at this level of competition. TREMENDOUS. If you are rehabbing a knee injury just one quick stop and turn and you will be headed back to surgery. It's a matter of forces and vectors on the joint, tendons, and cartilage -- the pressure of those forces comes from change in direction, not from going straight.
