Thrilled that this is happening in the world / bring on an IMAGI-NATION{University} for the world.... Having looked deeply at the lives of Gandhi & Mandela (amongst others) in my days of youth, who both faced huge challenges & systemic oppression of people, and yet found it in their hearts to meet the “other” as one of “us”, something in me shifted. I knew that was the way to unite people - acknowledge our differences, hold strength in our diversity, and yet, at our cores, acknowledge the universal human-ness in each of us, and get to work together on a fairer world (in India, we greet each other with the word “Namaste” which essentially says, “the Universal (divinity) within me acknowledges the Universal (divinity) within you” and cuts through the layers of nonsense others, or we ourselves, put on us)…
To me, IMAGI-NATION{University} is about unshackling the mind, freeing ourselves from the chains put upon us (or we’ve put on thinking their necklaces), it’s about being (to quote another friend Camus) so utterly free that your very existence becomes an act of rebellion. Let’s finish with Tagore’s powerful poem, modified slightly, but holding its essence…
