The suggested hook size for getting these small baitfish is a #8 long shank style. The best bait to use to catch them is small bits of cut squid. I like to rig for Pinfish with a bell sinker attached to the bottom of the line; this makes it easy to feel when the Pinfish bite.
When I was catching the Snook on the beach I was rigged with a #1 silver J-hook, 25 lb. test fluorocarbon leader and 20 lb. test braid. Pinfish are one of the best baits to use when Snook fishing.

The slot size is right but I noticed you listed as SW FL, I just don’t want people to get confused and think it’s still just two zones of west coast and east coast. There are I believe 9 snook zones in FL as of this year. Sarasota bay is its own zone and laws for snook. Beautiful day out there JC, bait has been plentiful and fishing on fire!

JC, thanks for the pin fish tips! I emulated this yesterday, caught a bunch of pin fish but couldn’t find a snook. Did the same thing today and found two and a fat trout! Thanks for the knowledge

If you’re using pinfish a lot get a Sabiki rod and rig and use shrimp fishbites for bait.

Take scissors and trim the dorsal fin. Snook will hold on longer.

Hey man I have a really important question I've gotten mixed answers on. Do you need a snook permit if you're under 16? I used to think snook permits never even existed please let me know.

That small bridge I stopped and fished from holds Pinfish year round. During the cold of winter it can be challenging to find them.

Believe it or not, the padded seats will hurt your butt more. Both seats will have your butt sore after riding 2 or 3 times . After that your good to go?

Don't really get why you wouldn't just use a sabiki rig...I know you said because of the hook size, but they come in all sorts of sizes and you can catch half a dozen pins at a time and get on with some real fishin 😊
