The Queen of Pop. True Blue hit number one in a record-breaking 28 countries across the world. With over 25 million copies sold worldwide, True Blue is the best-selling album of 1986, the best-selling of the 1980s by a female artist, and one of the best-selling albums of all time.
It sold over 25 million around the world. 5 top 5 singles and three no.1s. It is the perfect summer album. Now the journey is starting to get really interesting
Please, don't forget to listen to the "Who's that Girl?" Soundtrack songs. That comes before the tour which actually is called "The Who's that Girl World Tour. Nice reaction! Already subscribed!
Fun fact: the instrumental for La Isla Bonita was originally written for Michael Jackson, but he rejected it. It was then offered to Madonna, who wrote the lyrics and turned it into La Isla Bonita.
The audio clip on White Heat is actually the voice of 1930's movie star James Cagney in the movie titled White Heat. James Cagney played Robbers and the criminal aspect, gangsters
Like Madonna sang on Into The Groove "only when I'm dancing can I feel this free, at night I lock the door where no one else can see". So keep jamming and fall off your chair....
Loving your MADONNA reactions! And you are doing it great, from the beginning! That’s the way to do it and understand the artist! THIS IS ONLY GETTING BETTER! Hold on to your seats! Be ready to be inspired, amazed and influenced! By the QUEEN M! ❤ this album was inspired by her then husband Sean Pean! Is a love album!
"I've sailed six. They've been wonderful." HAHAHA 😂 I just wish you would have included your reaction to the extended mix of La Isla Bonita. Would have loved to find out whether you liked it or not. Those extended (or 12") mixes of the 80s were something else. Truly a lost art form. I would definitely watch an uncut version of this. So what I'm saying is should you ever decide to start a patreon I'd be here for it.
hello this record was a dedication of love to her husband. In this album there were supposed to be 2 other songs but one was given to Nick Kamen becoming his N1 song Of which there is also the demo made by Madonna Each time you break my heart
Great reaction! Its truly ctazy how she just kept getting better for decades. You should definitely do a reaction video of the videos to "Crazy for You" and "into the groove" before you watch the True Blue vids. They are too important in her catalogue to be missed as a lot of her classic songs are for soundtracks as well AND she stars in one of the movies so you get to see clips even if you dont watch the film. On a personal note i just wanted to say that my very first concert when i was 6 years old was Janet Jackson Rhythm nation. It was Life changing.
Who’s that Girl. Look of Love, and Causing a Commotion are 3 songs off the Who’s that Girl movie soundtrack that were released before the next album and tour.
Patrick Leonard is a musical genius. Live to Tell has the most beautiful bridge in Madonna's discography, and arguably the entire pop realm. And then to have La Isla Bonita's gorgeous bridge on this album as well! ❤
It was a controversial song, banned by the Vatican because it touched on teenage pregnancy/ pre marital sex controversy. You will see Madonna impact on politics, culture, etc. Enjoy the journey. Most her videos from this point forward will have double meanings or deeper than you initially think.
I ❤ the true blue era, brand new madonna look, sounds more mature, new attitude, especially papa dont preach and live to tell songs. When the album was released here in Spain, the record company wanted that la isla bonita were the next single after papa dont preach so the company released as a promo single here for the radio stations, the cover picture was taken from the papá dont preach video. Anecdote about la isla bonita Patrick Leonard and Bruce Gaitsch created it as an instrumental demo and offered it to singer Michael Jackson, who turned it down. When Leonard met Madonna to start working on True Blue, he played the demo for her. Madonna came up with the title, wrote the lyrics and produced the song with Leonard. It is her first song with Latin influences. about open your heart Written by Gardner Cole and Peter Rafelson, it was conceived as a rock and roll song titled "Follow Your Heart" for singer Cyndi Lauper, although it was never played for her. At the time, Cole's management was working with Madonna's, who were looking for material for True Blue. "Follow Your Heart" was among the songs offered to the singer. She liked it and, alongside producer Patrick Leonard, turned it into a dance song, changed its title and re-wrote some of the lyrics.
Hi! Love your reaction! I knew you'd like Jimmy Jimmy's "oop shoop boops" because you loved Shoo-Be-Do. I left this comment on your Virgin album reaction about this True Blue era, with suggestions for how to navigate it, but i dont think you saw it?: I strongly suggested watching 1985's Desperately Seeking Susan film (even if you don't react to it). Into the Groove is from this film, and Madonna steals the entire film as Susan. I suggested the 1985 Live Aid concert (3 songs: Holiday, Into the Groove, and premiere of new track Love Makes the World Go Round which she wrote for Live Aid, a benefit concert for starving children in Africa. This is still very much part of the Virgin era, being only 1 month after the end of the tour) and concludes the 83-85 era and look. (It's still 9 months till next music video (Live to Tell), and a whole year until the release of True Blue album.) The next era is 86-87. Suggested reaction order: 1986... True Blue album (which you just did 💙). 5 music videos: Live to Tell, Papa Don't Preach, True Blue, Open Your Heart, La Isla Bonita. 1987... Who's That Girl soundtrack with 4 songs: Who's That Girl (and music video), Causing a Commotion, The Look of love, Can't Stop. Who's That Girl film (a fun 80s comedy you could watch by yourself). The Who's That Girl World Tour. She finished up this era with a non-stop remix album, You can Dance (with new song Spotlight and video). This was the best selling remix album of all time till MJ's Blood on the Dancefloor eclipsed it 10 years later. You could do this before the tour if you prefer. It has great updated mixes and all runs together like a night at the club, (but there are also stand-alone song versions). A precursor to her non-stop 2005 Confessions album. There are no worthwhile interviews or any other performances that I know of from this entire era as she was so busy. Can't wait to see it all unfold...
This album is an homage to the 1950s: including the cover art aesthetic, the gangster vibe (White Heat 1949), True Blue (do-wap girl-group/diner/Grease), and Jimy Jimmy, an ode to James Dean, and bad boys of that era.
She was in love at the time, she just married Penn, True Blue references that bliss in her life, As it is in almost all her albums her personal life is mirrored Thats why on her next album Like a Prayer were she was divorced and miserable you have songs like You are not in love with me (where she clearly describes the huge fights she had with Penn) And also songs like oh father or (my personal favorite Madonna song of all time) Promise to try (talking about the loss of her mother)
“Where’s The Party”(Shep Pettibone Remix ‘87) is so much better. It was released as a B-Side single w/Spotlight from her Remix Album, “You Can Dance”(1987).
“Live To Tell”(1st Single) was from the film, “At Close Range”(1986) starring her ex-husband, Sean Penn, and Christopher Walken(based on a true story).
Where’s the party was planned as sixth or fifth single ( I forget why ) that’s why it was remixed in 1986 ready for the you can dance album which was delayed by many months due to the who’s that girl era and didn’t come out until November 1987
If you wanna get an idea how M and JJ “fought” for the #1 spot especially in the 80s/early 90s watch ruclips.net/video/TwXLP7b4M1Y/видео.htmlsi=WZe-Q4ILmB7mLqW2 I think it’ll make a GREAT reaction! But nonetheless its still a great watch 💋💋
Definitely a love album. She dedicated it to her husband Sean Penn, who used the slightly old-fashioned phrase "true blue" to describe people he admired. Kinda like saying "the real deal" Papa Don't Preach, as others have pointed out, is about a teenage pregnancy. Conservative Christians were outraged, claiming she was encouraging teen sex. Ironically, those same people today would applaud the girl for "keeping her baby" In her 2019 tour, she changed the lyric to say she was NOT keeping her baby, to remind women they still had a choice.
Papa Don't Preach is about a pregnancy, specifically teenage pregnancy. She's keeping her baby, not her man. I don't think you got the message. Re-read the lyrics.
Unfortunately it ends with one of the worst songs on the album. As you said, each album gets better and I'm confident you will agree, you were correct.

Makes sense considering my reaction to this album lol such a wonderful achievement, I can't wait to get further in her career!
@@Grass12 Next up: Who’s That Girl Soundtrack(4 songs by Madonna), Who’s That Girl Tour(1987), and You Can Dance(Remix Album/‘87).
Live to tell It's Madonna Greatest song, She write what makes it even better
Madonnas vocals sound really good. I particularly enjoy them on Papa and Open Your Heart
Please, don't forget to listen to the "Who's that Girl?" Soundtrack songs. That comes before the tour which actually is called "The Who's that Girl World Tour. Nice reaction! Already subscribed!
True blue is one of the biggest musical eras of all time! This made her the Queen of Pop
The Queen of Pop 👑

Your Dad has fantastic taste :)
FINALLY!! Someone who appreciates Jimmy Jimmy as much as I do! Subbed! Love your content!
The audio clip on White Heat is actually the voice of 1930's movie star James Cagney in the movie titled White Heat. James Cagney played Robbers and the criminal aspect, gangsters
Congrats on hitting 1k subcribers!
Thank you!!
A Shoo-Be-Doo AND Jimmy Jimmy fan?
Your appreciation for Madonna’s corniest songs is heartwarming lmao
I love how you have Janet albums on your shirt and jamming to a Madonna album. TWO QUEENS OF POP. NEW GIRLS COULD NEVER
Now the real reinventing starts
Like Madonna sang on Into The Groove "only when I'm dancing can I feel this free, at night I lock the door where no one else can see". So keep jamming and fall off your chair....
Madonna at her best! 💙

I think Janet always admired Madonna secretly
A lot of her work was inspired like three years after Madonna's 💙

PLEASE react to the Erotica album
You are so cute and funny
react to rebel heart, madame x but def to popular
