Gio, well thought out video. I am a former Widower and after residing most of my Air Force Career of 20-years in the Far East, my former (deceased spouse) and I had planned on retiring back to her home country to live possibly in Seoul (where she was born and educated as an Operating Room Surgical Nurse). Yet, after battling Stage-4-Ovarian Cancer for 4-years, knowing that her time on earth was soon coming to an end, she was worried about me and who would be there to take care of me after she passed away. It was both my Dad and my wife's South Korean Parents who both suggested that I should remarry again, as I was still "young" (56). My neighbor / co-worker of mine stated, that maybe since I had been married for many years (23 to be exact to my former deceased spouse), that I might feel more comfortable finding another Asian Lady to settle down. Thus my quest began. However, I wasn't up-to-speed as to how to meet someone, as I was thinking back as to how I met my deceased spouse, as I was teaching English as a Second Language in Seoul in my spare time, when I met the most beautiful South Korean Lady I ever met and the rest was history. My neighbor / co-worker said, "you are going to go on your computer and meet someone" and, I was taken aback as to what she stated, as this was quite unlike what I had done many years earlier. Thus, I found several on-line dating sites and in-time I came across several Asian Ladies that I thought I might feel more comfortable with. (NOTE: I wasn't looking for a young lady, as I was hoping to find someone much closer to my deceased wife's age at the time of her passing.) So, I eventually met a widowed Filipina who was also in the same line of work and born in the same year as my deceased spouse. After meeting her in-person with my teenaged daughter and alone on several occasions, I then found a Visa Service (Filipina Fiancee Visa Service - filipinafianceevisa.com), which was originally located in Southern California and now is located in Las Vegas, NV for quite some time. They were extremely helpful to obtaining the necessary paperwork for us to fill in and submit when everything looked correct and, eventually my Filipina Fiancee arrived in the U.S., where we were married in less than the 90-days required by U.S. Immigration in a nice Catholic Mass Ceremony. She then obtained her Green Card, became a licensed RN and, most importantly became a Naturalized U.S. Citizen. When she was about to retire, we then discussed several options but, the overall best option was for us to retire back to the Philippines (Clarin, Misamis Occidental, Mindanao) and, she visited the San Francisco Philippine Consulate to become a Dual Citizen (Philippine-American) and, we have been happily retired her for 8-years (May 2014). So, my suggestion for anyone that is reading this post, is to do your homework properly, making sure that you have sufficient funds to permanently retire to the Philippines and know, that your Filipina Girlfriend or Spouse is there to take care of you. as I am very happy with the way my life turned out after my loss and my wife is there to take care of me until such time as I either pass away or she passes away.
I have been married for 11 years to a Filipina 35 years younger than me, we have two kids, we will retire there but I will never sell the house in my own country, only rent it out. I have heard too many horror stories of guys who sell everything and move there, only to find they have been scammed and end up with nothing, not even a flight "home" (yeah the one they sold). My wife is in for the long haul, but I got lucky, not everyone does... but then again, "life is a lottery"... there are no guarantees and no set of rules saying everything will be fine. The house is always there if things go sideways or my health fails and I have to return, and it's an asset for my family when I turn up my toes. We also have a house and lot "in the province", and as for a visa, I can get a 13a "spouse". My only advice is don't jump on the first girl who says "I love you", be the discerning gentleman you should be if you are "mature", because a beautiful young lady can cause a man to make some very bad decisions based on lust, especially old guys nearing the end of their sexual life.
I agree. I'm keeping my house in the states to. I was always told, you never gamble more than you are willing to lose and no matter how long you live outside the U.S.A. you are still an American citizen and with those other countries those other countries the visa rules can change anytime and you might be forced out. One thing that is very important to me is that a boyfriend and girlfriend need to start out with a clean financial slate. Everything that they make from this moment forward is ours together to support our new life. Our businesses from our old lives we each worked alone on those and should be kept seperate. Just my two cents. I'm a big fan of partnerships.
I began coming to the Philippines in May of 2018. I lived and worked in China for 5 years. I have been in the Philippines since September 2019. My girlfriend was 26 years younger than myself. There are many places in the provinces which are extremely cheap to live in and many, many women looking for foreign men of any age.
At the end of the day it's always about money even in the Philippines. If you've got it, you'll do fine regardless of your age. If you don't, you're fucked anywhere you go.
Thanks a lot for your insight. I am a 51 yo American on 100% VA disability (about 3K per month). I'm in contact with a young lady who lives in Manila but is from Samar island. My long-term goal is to possibly live there, and use the Philippines as my home base to travel Southeast Asia. My main concern was that she is 35. Through my research, I have found that this age gap is quite normal in the Philippines (the age gap between foreigners and native Filipinas). I look forward to your videos and I encourage you to keep up the good work.
My 13 years in the Phils tell me things are still really good for 60+ year old guys. If your health is reasonable, I see no problem what so ever. Are girls looking for younger guys, some are? Probably not a good idea for them to hold their breath, young guys tend not to be as stable mentally, financially and relationship wise. They generally are not able to move to the Phils right away which means they will have an extended long distance relationship. But that's on them. Cost, going up a little, but it's going up all over the world. Move a couple minutes away from the tourist zone and you will find the economic gems of the Philippines you've often heard about Guys 60+, come on down. Have fun, don't spend your life thinking I wish I had or I wish I could
TeleComDog I’m 67, good health and decent shape...been to Vietnam and Thailand, not to Philippines yet...would like to visit asap after this Coronavirus done.... debt free, social security, pension and decent portfolio .... main concern was my age holding me back...sounds like there is a chance meeting lady ...in fact in conversation with 39 year old on dating sight who looks and sounds like a sweetheart...
They are ALL looking for younger guys, or guys in their age group. They will settle for an old goat like me if we have money to support them. Common sense.
@@johnpollard5221 thats good take your time roaming around make friends here in Philippines and if your lucky you may find true love too and a good partner
Came over in 2015, 55 years old. Married a beautiful 35 year old. We now have 1 daughter and 1 son on the way. I have a income of 1,100 per month which is plenty. We live in Baguio which climate wise is one of the cooler climates over here. Life is better here then what I left in the U.S. but is it perfect.......no where is!
Returning to PH for my 2nd visit. Totally love it. Met a beautiful lady, age 29 that I will see again next month. I am 62. Age is not a problem for her, and neither is it for me. I have seen beautiful Filipino women in the 60's also. Just treat people right and have a little bit of game, and you'll do fine.
@Phil Waller. I'm sure your 29 yr old likes you, but realistically she would be with some guy her own age, IF she could find a financially stable guy that wasn't a player. I'm a few years older then you and if I find a younger girl who offers respect and appreciation and doesn't try to pick my wallet with her and her family emergencies I'm good with it. Just be aware of the short term and long term scammers who will bleed you dry. Whatever you do don't take the advice of your little head, use that big brain between your ears to make solid financial and marriage decisions. This advice came from my childhood friend who has lived in Davao City the past 15 years. Sadly in 2021 he was diagnosed terminal and came back to the US to wrap up his financial affairs and funeral arrangements. He's in hospice care as I write this post.
@Linda Lowther everyone has an angle, as long as everyone goes in with eyes wide open it is not a problem. It is usually more of a problem for older woman than it is for older men!
You will know if she starts sucking up money from you and you end up broke. A young women does not approach a man 30 years her senior for love i know i am 50 and been approach by various single moms.... only i turned them down.
Iam 60 years old been going to the Philippines for three years now, getting married in march. Planning on retiring there, hopefully at the end of this year. I worked very hard now it's time to enjoy my life
Loads of beautiful Fiipina's in their 20s, 30s, and 40s on dating sites looking for western guys aged bertween 35-70,sometimes 80. No other requirements necessary except.... "No tell no lies, and no play no games!"
I still believe many guys can find wife in the Philippines, regardless of age. Women in the Philippines doesn't care about age, as long as you can give them happiness. That is the truth my friend.
Sometimes money is the first reason but if you treat them well too they will truly fall inlove and thats mean happiness they will take care and protect you. Just take your time on getting to know each other and its better to find someone that is not too young for you.
The States are so over rated . Women are hard to find. Cops will remind you it's NOT the land of the FREE!! Getting worse for the working person. The younger generation are going to have it hard
What's the point of saying things are changing in Philippines with cost going up and girls changing how they view relationships with foreigners...There are changes in The West,Asia and around world when it comes to visas restrictions and cost of living and relationships ..Change is part of life since beginning of time and it's unstoppable...making generalizations is always a bad thing thing because their are exceptions to anything..I say forget listening to these general comments and just go with your gut feelings and what you want out of life...life is adventurous as you make it and whatever experience these ppl on RUclips have it may be completely different for you...Rule of thumb is whatever country u live in or go to be smart,be careful and choose wisely when it comes to relationships with woman...
rob_ppc_2012 have to agree - been here for 2 years and women of all ages will date an older man. Many beautiful women here of all ages - come and look around for your self
@@jasoncatron1039 I found a beautiful Filipina in her 40's. She's the love of my life. She has a HUUUGE heart and a hilarious sense of humor. Went to visit her last summer, and was blown away the very first day I was there. There were SO MANY young middle school and high school girls looking at me like they'd drop their school books and marry me right there on the street! Even when walking hand in hand with my love. Strange for an old, broke codger like me to be treated like a king. 🤪
I'm not yet 60.... If played out means no longer viable, then heck no. On the other hand, if you're trying to live on too little money, no country is ideal.
In no way can you expect every Filipina to be interested in an older guy. You can't expect every Filipina to be at all interested in a foreigner. Every case is different.
I enjoy Manila, So much to do there and lots of good restaurants. Cebu is ok for me, and Davao gets boring after about 10 days. I used to not like Manila, after spending time there I now see why so many people flock there to live and work.
Listen, the one thing that has never and will never change and that is the fact that ‘cash is king’. So regardless of your age, you can easily find a young airhead to satisfy your weekly needs without having to buy the cow, much less buy the entire farm. The Philippines is one of the most beautiful countries on the planet. Come for exploring that beauty first and foremost. Discover a place that fits your own personal idea of a stress free retirement. And you will eventually bump in to someone you enjoy spending most of your time with.
Vietnam and Thailand are changing dramatically towards foreigners. Real-estate in the PI is really sky-rocketing in the bigger cities. Thanks for this video. It's very informative.
In a way this is an absurd question. The Philippines is vast and varied. If you can rough it, go somewhere like the Dinagat Islands. (So a boat ride is probably a good idea.) If you are a white guy (especially) and can get around, and your pecker works, you will be fine. You will be like Elvis in one of his movies.
After 28 years in Cambodia, which tenure commenced before the UN arrived in 1992, I can assure you the explanation below regarding the banning of foreign men over aged 50 from marrying a Cambodian woman in Cambodia is true and correct in every detail.
Thanks for the great video Gio:) I lived in the Philippines from 2008 till 2014. Then 2014 & 2015 in the USA then 2016 & 2017 in Thailand. Then back in the Philippines again for a little over 2 years now. In my opinion, there are two things that have had the largest effect on Philippine culture in the last 4 years, in particular, the Filipina. In general, better access to better quality internet is one thing and the other is the tightening of visa requirements by the Thais. Many younger working-age under the age of 50 foreigners that used to go to Thailand for prostitution began coming to the Philippines and going to Filipina dating sites. They realized that in many cases they could lie and mislead young attractive Filipinas into thinking they were interested in a serious relationship and get free sex or in many cases offering them money for sex. So many Filipinas turned to prostitution(the majority are freelancers that solicit "Pay For Play" on dating sites) because the idea appealed to them or they came to the conclusion that 80 to 90% of the guys were using them to get sex and moved on, so they thought I might as well get paid for it. This is mostly prevalent in major cities. On the other hand, the vast majority of Filipinas are quality girls just looking for a long-term loving faithful relationship that offers them some level of financial security and have not or will not turn to prostitution but little by little will still come to the conclusion that 80-90% of the younger foreigners under 50 are not in it for the long-term. Filipinas talk a lot to each other about their deepest feelings and experiences with guys. It's my prediction and observation that quality retired guys over 55 looking for a serious relationship will find it a little easier going forward because it's becoming apparent to the Filipina that most younger guys are just here for short term fun and must go back home to work and the older retired guy will once again be looked at as more stable, reliable, faithful, appreciative and serious about having a long term relationship with them. Good luck to all...God bless:)
@@mohamedalkaboom That is the best situation if you are with a young Filipina by giving her decent education so she can get job opportunities. Most Filipinas are faithful but they have limits as well. The best thing is to give them kids so they don't have to think of other guys.
Just catching up on your videos... have been involved in actively re-building my future life goals, focusing on the Philippines. I began researching the Phils in the late 1980's (in my late 30's), at the end of the Marcos regime. I first journeyed to the Phils in 1995, then again in 1999. I attempted early retirement in 2007, living primarily on Mindanao and took numerous trips to Cebu and Manila, After 6 months I realized there were too many opportunities for investing in the Phils andI had neither the money or investors needed; so I chose to return to the United States to earn and raise as much capital as I could, in the years I had left before reaching the "natural" retirement age bracket. I have travelled to over 41 countries in my lifetime, and the Philippines has been the only place on Earth that felt like home to me, since my very first visit, in 1995. I truly believe it is NEVER too late to attempt to fulfill yet unachieved business AND personal goals in life! For me, that rings loudest and seems more than possible in the Philippines, for me, than any other country I have visited. To attempt even a fraction of the business investments I am attempting in the Philippines, I would have had to amass millions of dollars to attempt to do the same, in the U.S.. . Gio, I totally support your comments on opportunities for men over 60, retiring or even taking extended vacations in the Philippines. Personally, I had not planned to retire until 2026, but work-related injury allowed me to examine and again decide on early retirement around the beginning of the Covid-19 panic (pandemic is a word that should be reserved for plagues). I have been establishing relationships with Filipinos for the past decade, plus, that will allow me to expand both my business and personal horizons in the Philippines. So I can simply say, for any man now, in your 40's, 50's or 60's... MABUHAY, and quote a classic line once reserved for the Caribbean Islands, "...Come to the islands, man... you will feel welcomed here...", for many decades to come!
It's far from being played out. I've lived in Philippines for 3yearw now and have no shortage of young beautiful woman that would love to be mine, however I'm married to a beautiful Filapina 31 years younger than me. My friend s have even bigger age gaps. When I lived in Dumaguete I had no problem with finding girls. Living in the Philippines is super cheap. Don't buy a condo, bad ROI. Build a house like I did for only 1.5 million.
Good analysis. For what it's worth let me throw in some insight onto this subject in Thailand and to a lesser extent the Philippines. I'm over 60 and have lived in Thailand for over 12 years; also spent a fair amount of time in Cebu and recently in Vietnam. Visa changes in Thailand are more of a nuisance than anything at this time. The increased financial considerations are affecting most only bottom feeders that shouldn't have been here in the first place. Large age gap relationships are becoming fewer but are not uncommon. Vietnam? Don't even bother. I speak some conversational Vietnamese and still struggle a bit, although I am developing two other angles that show promise. More on that later ... maybe. As you alluded to, the internet has greatly expanded the apparent options for girls in all countries. Here is my take on that. I play on the dating sites off and on. I have no trouble getting meetups, mainly because I am in the country and have developed a few skills to set myself apart from the masses. Nothing most others can't easily do. A favorite subject of conversation is their experiences on the sites. Very consistently they tell me they get a huge number of hits. Lot's of trash talk and requests for nude pics. Girls with a bit of time on the sites soon realize that at least 9 out of 10 are bull$hitters. They will never make it to SEA. If they have a job they can't get off work and if they do they don't have the money to travel to the other side of the world. It is nearly always the older guys who actually show up and may have something to offer to them. I have little concern about the 40, 30, or even 20 something guys out hustling me for the cuties. Sometimes I lose. Mostly I succeed. I expect most others my age would have similar experiences. Have no fear, just get over here! So my short answer to this video? Oh hell no! Happy Trails.
"Mostly I succeed"? Mostly???? At what exactly? lol any man at any age can buy sex ... but if you are not in a long term relationship ... then what is your measure of "success" here?
Pretty good analysis. I've lived near AC for five years now. No real regrets. I do think it's better to do six months here and six months in the US, though, or at least leave for like a month from time to time. It keeps things fresh in your mind and you get a chance to get away from the cultural differences.
Gio Funny just Looking back back at this video from the good old days of February, giving time lines which was very normal before our new normal were time is measured by "Hmm I don't know". Keep up the good work, always a treat to watch your videos and I appreciate the time you take to produce them.
That is the opportunity they see. To not be pregnant by a man who has many other children he doesn't see. A man who isn't drunk or on drugs. A man who doesn't beat them. That the FIRST thing anyone said. Tells me it's a problem. A man who doesn't smoke. It's not about money. It's about having a good husband. Be good to them like you would anyone else. Also even here in the US, younger men are so immature. They don't want to watch a man play video games. They want to watch you build them a house. It's not we are so great. It's others are so bad. Get what you want. Life is short.
My boyfriend Ron is 60+ and He is 20 years older than me and I do not ever want anyone else. I don't like men my age, older men are nicer then younger men & he never would cheat on me. He love me more than anyone ever has.
Hi Gio after watching your posts you've made me a believer and I want to thank you....I will be traveling to the Philippians check out the living conditions and planning to move there in the future ....I have commitments here for the next two years but after that I'm done spending time here in the cold...I've been around to countries and haven't quite found what I'm looking for but watching your video's I know where I want to go... So once again thank's and keep those video's coming you are helping people all around the world ... Steve
i was just in dumaguete and cebu and there loads of foreigners, not much in bacolod, my haircut is 45 pesos, i know a place which cuts hair for 35 pesos so it depends on your budget as some places charge 250 for the same service, prices have gone up but still way cheaper than los angeles, 10 years ago my rent for a 1 bedroom apt was $900, now zero, before i have to cook and wash dishes now i have a maid so less stress and more free time.
I never hear it recommended, but I live in Tagaytay City and consider it the nicest place anywhere in the country. Tagaytay has the best weather (600 meters above sea level), it is close to Manila, there is not a lot of crime, yet it has all the amenities you could want. My girlfriend and her kids moved here from Pasig City and love it. We rent a nice three-bedroom townhouse for PHP 22,000 per month. I'm 61 and my girlfriend is 36, 1.69 meters, and 50 kg.
Duane I have visited Tagaytay back in 2018 with some friends. I would love to hear from you about Tagaytay. I like the cooler tempertures it has...and yeah there is Taal but the Philippines is in the ring of fire so I know about it.
@@bigjohn5590 i live just around 20 min drive to Tagaytay and the weather is nice and cool. When taal volcano erupted in January, my place was not directly affected with only dust-thin layer of ashfall. Tagaytay is a very beautiful place but if the volcano erupts again, then that would be another story.
I agree with you. The SRRV is good to get. Philippine government has been pushing that particular visa. Just walk through the airport and see how many adds there were about retiring in the Philippines. The requirement was at least be of age 50. So I agree with your analysis.
Thank You Gio for Your Honest Opinion ! I Wasn't Sure if There Was Going to Be a Happy Ending and For Me to Lose Hope , But You Made Me Feel Good and Stay Positive ! I am Retired and Want to Visit the Philippines and Meet a Filipina , That is My Dream ! I Have No Interests in Any Women in America , None At All ! They Are a Different Breed Period ! I Would Love to Connect With a Filipina and Help Her Succeed.
Thanks for the info Gio. I am thinking of a move from America because in the past few years especially the USA is in trouble with Everything and I've been watching vlogs from You, Paul, The Filipino Pea and others and it seems like a very desirable place, and yes the people are friendly and the Woman are attractive, but for a retirement destination it looks Ideal😁
I see there are many beautiful women there in their 40's so If you are in your 60"s what wrong with someone in their 40's? Also may be they will have more in common. No matter The odds are better all around than you will ever find in the States.
i am american lived in phils 27 yrs ,on my second wife i am 66 she is 30 yrs old i met many many ladies 18 thru 45 they treated me very well we also go to kuala lumpur malaysia ,i used to go to thailand but not my scene anymore
Young guys can`t afford to travel to the Philippines or other Asian destinations. This gives the financially more stable over 50`s a massive advantage in south east Asia. Although, more and more younger men are working online, especially after this scam-demic is over, so maybe things will be more challenging for the older blokes in the near future.
This 80 year old man retires to the Philippines... meets a 20 year old girl... they date for a few weeks.... one night, after dinner, he struggles down to his knee, opens a little box and says, "Darling, will you be my widow" .
Hah. I know a guy that has been living in the Philippines for at least 8 years. He is 85 and still drives. I am not sure how old his filipina is but, I doubt she is over 40.
I agree that it is not played out for men over 60. My Ne doesn't want a Filipino man ever again and she doesn't trust younger men. I have heard other Filipinas say the same thing. It is funny I have heard guys say they wouldn't be with a Filipina in her 40s & Ne say she wouldn't be with a guy under 60. No problem there LOL. Good video.
The U.S is pricing me out. The new board walk looks very nice. I’m planning to visit soon. Do you need proof of COVID vaccination? And where would you fly into coming to Dumeguete? Thank you for all the feet on the ground information.
I have seen allot of younger men in the Philippines that are living there on disability , but this is normally a temp. thing and once they learn they have to come back to the states and get re-evaluated in order to continue receiving funds the vacation is over .
80 percent of guys on disability i know, have no problem and sustain it. Its very hard to get it rejected. We partying like rockstars, dont hate.. .(and evaluation is about every 4 years..plenty of time ) In fact, I got more on my return evaluation
You can get whatever you want in this world if you have enough money. Love is a transaction between two people and as long as each has something to gain it will happen.
If you are over 50 or 60 you still will do very very very well in the PI. Try to stay in the best shape possible, and the more money you have the better off you will be! As long as the Philippines remains a "2nd/3rd" world country nothing will change!
Even though this is 2 years old its still very relevant... For a 46 year old balikbayan husband I notice most expat vloggers aim at the American retiree but is still relevant to all nationalities.. Stay well...T
In Sarasota very close to where your from a two bedroom two bath rent is $2500/month now two years later. So it's even better there now than the states and I just lost $100k from the storm Ian.
Have to agree Gio....age is still no problem here. But a word of warning, this isn’t the U.S....there is still no divorce here...women who say they are separated, well your on your own brother. It might cost you a lot to learn...(voice of experience). If you are a critical individual stay at home...you will not survive here. If you can roll with the punches, and don’t take yourself to seriously, you’ll be ok! 4.5 yrs in Davao, on an SRRV. ENJOY Life!
Usa was played out for me, then met my beautiful Filipino wife. I have never been treated and loved so much . I move to the Philippines and also love the country and people Of course it was difficult to get use to being in a different country. The Filipino woman learns from a Yong age how to be a mother wife lover and they seem to understand a man better than he understands himself.
Gio, I m coming to the Philippines in November for 3 weeks, and I’m wondering where can I get a really good map of the Philippines? To me, this is a must have.
I made a trip to the Philippines in 2008 at age 43 then another in 2017 age 52 and I noticed a difference. Of course I was a little older and not as excited as I was the first time but I definitely saw a difference. In general it seemed like Filipinos had a little foreigner fatigue and prices were noticeably higher after considering inflation. I think it's still good but not quite as easy as it used to be. There are some worthwhile western women of course but most are taken or live in big cities, considering the train wreck here in the US the Philippines is quite good. A guy simply has to go see for himself how he feels. I wouldn't advise retiring on a shoestring though unless you really are ok with a very simple lifestyle in the province.
I think it has changed over the years from what I know. As far as meeting women, older guys can still meet plenty of great women. I would say younger guys generaly have the upper hand. I'm currently with a educated doctor. Funny part is she is actually older than me. Met her at 26 and she was 29
Good video. Every country changes through time I did notice a very big difference the last time I was in the philippines there's so many foreigners a lot more younger guy's fillipinas are no different from any other girl I have had so many girls asking about my son's I'm 51 and my sons 32 and 30 thank for sharing.
Hey Gio, I discovered your channel recently and really enjoy what you have to say. Great advice for sure. I have traveled all over, 44 countries and I’m considering leaving the US again, I lived 25 years in Australia, and have dual citizenship. There are a number of countries I like and would probably enjoy living there. But I’m kind of reliant on the VA for my healthcare…. And Philippines is the only place outside of Usa with VA. I was wondering if you or any of the guys you know use the VA hospital/clinic in Manila? It seems like they’re used to be a VA clinic in Cebu but I don’t see it online anywhere. I know I can use the Manila hospital if I live there, although I can’t stand Manila as a place to live, I could always travel there for VA appointments if necessary. Thanks for your Comment. MJ
I always feel like the young guy almost everywhere I go. Most guys from the West are almost always 10-20+ yrs older then me. I am 45 and see these guys with beautiful women all the time.
Always informative my friend..each time I go to the Philippines i have noticed that people are not as friendly as they were 10 years ago...seem more busy than ever..reminds me a little bit of the states...but they are still nicer than people in America....woman in the Philippines are not as approachable as before..may be I am just 10 years older or smarter than before..do I miss being there.. Yes...would I like to retire there? Yes...am I going back...heck yeah..better living there than in the states...
Theres no problem about age if you love each other and respect each other.Filipina will always serve the best to the husband. We will taking care of them with all our heart. We are hard working person. Hope one day i can find my Destiny man too😊 be safe everyone's
As far as I can see the only reason it would be less expensive to live in philippines would be the cost of housing, almost everything else is more expensive. Food is at least twice as much, cars and motorcycles are about 30% more, electronics are more expensive.
@@GiointhePhilippines Well my wife is Filipino so she buys what she is used to and a bit more fruit an vegatables for me. We certainly spend twice as much. I would say it depends on if you are trying to eat healthly not if you are eating a western diet. Things that grow here cost twice as much as things that have to be shipped to Canada. Example - Pineapple juice, grown here twice the price. We do better buying fruit at the market, then it is close to the same price as Canada. I guess she could have gotten used to a healthy way of living when in Canada for 1.5 years. But she certainly puts on the fat, when we come back here.
I agree with you I'm 60 and I have no problem meeting women in their 20s my son is 31 and tried to talk to a girl there and she told him he is too young she was 24 I think yeah I know funny but true so I think its still a good place for dating if you like the younger type. BTW great channel i love watching you keep up the good work.
I've been researching moving out of the US for about a year. Imo it looks to me I'll spend 2.5 times more in the Philippines than I do in the US. I get that sounds insane. I retired 19 years ago at 45 and have living a simple life dialed in. Own my own home so no rent, health insurance and phone paid by the government, etc... I like my own cooking and know where to shop for food. It doesn't seem like people understand that a person can live a simple life in the US. I'm looking forward to moving to the Philippines for the adventure. I think it will be so different I don't think I will be able to compare. There are pluses and minuses for both US and Philippines. I've been flexible here in the US, getting around the minuses, taking advantage of the pluses. I assume I'll do the same in the Philippines...or Vietnam or Laos or wherever.
Agreed. One can live in the US (smaller, less known cities) or Mexico just as cheap as Thailand (not so cheap anymore) or the Philippines once you factor in costs nobody discusses like airfare, etc. etd. Most of those "I live on $ 1,000 a month" videos are for clicks OR don't mention that you could live in rural Kansas in a similar dump as those in SE Asia are living in for that same $1,000. P.S....How are you getting a phone paid by the government?
Thank you for sharing this information. I am currently 47 will be 48 in a few months time. My girlfriend is 30 and she will be 31 towards the end of the year. I not in position to permanently move at the moment but do plan to eventually do that. Give it about another 10 years. So the is it over for the 60 plus year olds to stay live out their life in the Philippines and there is at least a 20 to 25 year time frame of if it still good to do so I think I be okay then. Yes maybe I settle for more the province areas. Also to live off a $1000 a month well this sounds good news to me. So some it up keep it simple, simple life and a good life with your partner and their family.
Good insight Gio . My experience here in the Philippines are limited . Most expats that I have met here in Mindanao are not yet 60 . Usually in their 50s and married to someone in their 30s. Which most Filipino women prefer a man a little older .
I am 54 , feel 94, look 34. My gf is 24 and gorgeous. Really. But tried to find someone closer to 40 years old and just not my taste. But I do find it hard to believe that anyone can live in Manila for less than 1500.00. I won’t limit myself ever. Love clubs , love good places to eat ect....
If you are 40 to 60 yrs old it much better to find Filipina near your age too. Although age doesn't matter here you can find a more sincere one if she's not too young for you.
Hi Gio. I have been back and forth between the US and Manila for years. My last stay was three months. What part of the Philippines are you at? I am 60+ & I plan to come back long term again in June.
Hi GIO again. I think one IMPORTANT thing to manton is that will be very dificult to take out a very Jung girl out of Philippines .more if she is in the 20+ and you in the 60. Plus also dificult for her to stay the country you choose the same time Visa that they give to us. You know that very well .when you was thinking to go to to stay in Malaysia .or Rickey trying to take his new girl friend out of Philippines. Going to Vietnam. Is a lot of issues in this Philippine. Laws .about taking out a much younger girl friend.. This was a interesting video that I also mention in your other video about living in VALENCIA .. OK See you around .
Well said Gio. 10 years ago the Phillipines was the perfect little secret place for older expats to live like a movie star. But now it's changing fast. With all the info out there with vloggers and social media it's now becoming a more popular destination than Thailand which is not good for us guys who have many more years left before we retire :(
Hi Gio. Very insightful, in depth analysis! Thank you!!! I'll be 62 this year and planning on filing for early SS benefits and moving to Balanga City, Bataan. I met a 29 year old Filipina through mutual acquaintances in May of last year when I was there and we are engaged now and getting married this July. Balanga is just across the bay from Manila (a 45 minute ferry ride) and is the capitol city of Bataan. It's fairly close to Subic and Clark. There are very few expats there. Anyways, great information from you as always.
dont move to Balangas there is nothing there i lived in Limay for a awhile njust terrible ive been here 7 years all over the place, currently in Plaridel Dumaguete is good place so is Subic Bay
Interesting vlog with useful and common sense advice. I'm visiting in September first visit. Approaching retirement want to see what the options are. Finding a long term partner isn't at the top of my list of priorities. Paul (The Old Dog New Tricks) gave good advice from his experience when he said "Slow Down" A lot of boxes have to be ticked before I get round to finding someone to settle down with! What you say about long term stability with an older guy makes sense but ultimately I think it's about: Being settled yourself Finding the right person Research Having a realistic budget and living within it Seems sensible to me not to rush onto any of those. 😊
The main issue I see with having a young Filipina girl is that 90% want children. If you’re over 60 that’s not a track you’re going to want to go down.
Would not date anyone under 40 and has no children. Her only requirement, if she meets the other two, is she can cook. Too many ladies in the west want a working man that can cook and clean. I believe in sharing the load.
If you look at world demographics you can see that western countries suffer a steep drop in birth rates from 1965 to 1982. (Gen x) while the population pyramid in the Philippines has been steadily creating a greater population for the last few generations. If anything, there will be a more favorable ratio of all sounth East Asians to white people for the next 30 years. The variable that might moderate or overwhelm that trend is the percent of white men going there. I actually doubt it will change drastically. In fact, many of the men going there are ex military who spent time there when they were younger. The large population of those men is dying.
I just turned 69. The girl I found last winter was 21. She loves me to death! Her mother is happy about us. Don’t shoot yourself in the foot before you get here and see what’s like!
Hey, I am 69 too and only one question for you: How long do you think a 21 year old beautiful lady will "love you to death".? In 11 years she is going to be in the prime of her life and you (and I) will be 80! I am a College Athlete (of course many years ago) but I still go to the gym, never smoked, never drank alcohol, I look great for my age ...but I am still 69 and my body parts are showing their age....How long will they even work? Wake up.
@@Flights-gq8po Al Courtines, you are doing the right thing. Live life to the fullest, take what you can get....pursue happiness. All the bad stuff 55flights is warning you about, is going to hit you, happy or not. So be happy and enjoy.....
Soo....basically then...the last bastion of finding a serious relationship with a woman younger than myself (turn 50 this year!) is pretty much gone!?....wow....that sucks...
@@GiointhePhilippines Well then I'll be making my travel arrangements for 2022!!...Hope I can find a "morena" around the 30 to 35 range who's serious about starting a long lasting relationship / marriage!!...
Question to the experienced guys. I’m 65, single, retired, reasonably fit and and of looks with a comfortable retirement... can afford to stay in the us fine. I’d like to just visit for a month and relax. My primary goal is not to be married and sex isn’t my primary goal anymore. It’s still nice but all the complications lower the priority... Intimacy would be great if it happened however. Is the Philippines a nice, inexpensive, fun and enjoyable place to spend some extended time? Thanks!
Well I'm turning 65 in a couple of months and PI is exactly what the Dr. has ordered for me. Everyday I giggle like a high school girl to think of the time my two lifetime buddies and I are going to have. That is if the coronavirus doesn't ruin it for us. I haven't been for 30 years and cant wait.
I don't chase 20 year olds.....but there are a ton of them in Agoo which is 10 km from us and it's shorts season. My wife is 41 to my 62. Yes things are getting more expensive but they are all over the world. I am not trying to live a 1st world lifestyle I am a minimalist so the Philippines works for me. Being I am married to a Filipina, visa considerations are really easy. I Love the country of Thailand but the Visa considerations are rediculous. It sounds like Malaysia from what you said is much worse. As far as living in the Province......I live like a local, it doesn't get much more primitive then where I live. We live in Tubao La Union. We do own our own car which is nice for going to the beach at San Juan or up to Baguio which we do about once a month for banking and as a major shopping day, it also gives our 2 kids some extra fun going to the arcade in SM etc. Both San Juan and Baguio are about a 1 hour drive depending on traffic and weather conditions in opposite directions of course. Major Grocery shopping for us is twice a month. SM the 1st week of the month and the middle of the month has been up to Savemore in Aringay, that may change a little as now there is a new CSI Department store in Agoo which is closer to us and it has a big Savemore style grocery. Things are growing out in the more remote provinces like ours but like most things outside the larger metro areas in the Philippines it's at a glacial pace.
I have been subscribed to Gio in the Philippines for some time and have heard age is just a number numerous times, so I was thinking when an Expat has a conversation with his much younger girlfriend and she asks you how much your monthly pension is , a perfect reply would be oh it's just a number, be interesting to hear what the responses would be?
How to get in contact with expats for more conversation like RUclips comments? Expats who knows somebody who wants to meet somebody or something like that?

Downsides to that also
Thank you for your story and advice .
@@-whackd doesn’t gamble with fiats
Just rent in the Philippines as you are only renting your girl..
Can I ask how it worked out?
My 13 years in the Phils tell me things are still really good for 60+ year old guys. If your health is reasonable, I see no problem what so ever.
Are girls looking for younger guys, some are?
Probably not a good idea for them to hold their breath, young guys tend not to be as stable mentally, financially and relationship wise. They generally are not able to move to the Phils right away which means they will have an extended long distance relationship. But that's on them.
Cost, going up a little, but it's going up all over the world. Move a couple minutes away from the tourist zone and you will find the economic gems of the Philippines you've often heard about
Guys 60+, come on down. Have fun, don't spend your life thinking I wish I had or I wish I could
Good advice :-)
I plan on moving in 2 years. I will be 66. I don't want a 21 year old 40 to 45 year old range for me.

Linda Lowther exactly! It’s amazing how self delusion can take many forms...
She's scamming other guys until you get back, don't drink the coolaid

Yes, well said. Plus, these trends will take a long time to play out anyway. Plus there are many women their 40's in that are absolutely stunning.
Very good point about the many attractive women in their 40’s, that often goes unmentioned.

In no way can you expect every Filipina to be interested in an older guy. You can't expect every Filipina to be at all interested in a foreigner. Every case is different.

Vietnam and Thailand are changing dramatically towards foreigners. Real-estate in the PI is really sky-rocketing in the bigger cities. Thanks for this video. It's very informative.
The Philippines saved me, no more chest pains. Prices have risen but still affordable and age gap relationships are thriving.
What islands in particular? I am looking for remote places with excellent kiteboarding opportunities. And women secondary.
After 28 years in Cambodia, which tenure commenced before the UN arrived in 1992, I can assure you the explanation below regarding the banning of foreign men over aged 50 from marrying a Cambodian woman in Cambodia is true and correct in every detail.
You have been the most informative person I’ve seen which is extremely helpful.
David C. Awesome-Thank You for the insight!
Agreed!
Absolutely true.
Excellent
I appreciate you watching, thanks.
Well said ☺️
Interesting. If you decide to come back to PH now, marcos will still be the president
Dave's Philippine Daydream peso
Do you have a blog? Seems like you have some knowledge to share and writing ability; a winning combination!
Great reply :-)
"Have no fear, just get over here!" Love that. The title of a PH sitcom. Thanks for your reply also.
Sir, you got game!!! LoL...
My girl is currently 43, 22 years younger than me. She says I am the best man she ever met. = )
Just curious but why are you with a 43 year old??
all women say that lol
@@johnpollard5221 are maybe I know more then you will admit, and all these old cocks are delusional?
That is the opportunity they see. To not be pregnant by a man who has many other children he doesn't see. A man who isn't drunk or on drugs. A man who doesn't beat them. That the FIRST thing anyone said. Tells me it's a problem. A man who doesn't smoke. It's not about money. It's about having a good husband. Be good to them like you would anyone else. Also even here in the US, younger men are so immature. They don't want to watch a man play video games. They want to watch you build them a house. It's not we are so great. It's others are so bad. Get what you want. Life is short.
H-effect doesn't have the $ to go.

Awesome, I am glad to hear that Steve. I wish you the best of luck.
Thanks I agree. Charlie
i was just in dumaguete and cebu and there loads of foreigners, not much in bacolod, my haircut is 45 pesos, i know a place which cuts hair for 35 pesos so it depends on your budget as some places charge 250 for the same service, prices have gone up but still way cheaper than los angeles, 10 years ago my rent for a 1 bedroom apt was $900, now zero, before i have to cook and wash dishes now i have a maid so less stress and more free time.
And you have there free Ash supply from Taal....

Hi, great video and insights. I lived in Manila for 7 mo., (2018/2019). Seems strange Filipinos have more options... what was your thinking on that?
I agree with you. The SRRV is good to get. Philippine government has been pushing that particular visa. Just walk through the airport and see how many adds there were about retiring in the Philippines. The requirement was at least be of age 50. So I agree with your analysis.
Thank You Gio for Your Honest Opinion ! I Wasn't Sure if There Was Going to Be a Happy Ending and For Me to Lose Hope , But You Made

Go for it!
I see there are many beautiful women there in their 40's so If you are in your 60"s what wrong with someone in their 40's? Also may be they will have more in common. No matter The odds are better all around than you will ever find in the States.
totally agree.
Kids more likely grown up also.
I agree with that 40 yo philipina girls are hot.

This 80 year old man retires to the Philippines... meets a 20 year old girl... they date for a few weeks.... one night, after dinner, he struggles down to his knee, opens a little box and says, "Darling, will you be my widow" .
good one lol

“ widow? Me love you long time! “
I move to the Philippines and also love the country and people
Of course it was difficult to get use to being in a different country. The Filipino woman learns from a Yong age how to be a mother wife lover and they seem to understand a man better than he understands himself.
Great video. Having lived in Mindanao for almost one year I totally agree with your assessment.
Just found your channel. Thanks for information. I'm due to retire next year. Not sure were to retire to. I'm keeping my opinions open . Cheers
Gio, I m coming to the Philippines in November for 3 weeks, and I’m wondering where can I get a really good map of the Philippines? To me, this is a must have.
Everything is just online now. Google Maps and download the map, don't rely on the internet because some areas may not have a signal.
Thank you nice information.
Head to the provinces :-)
Airbnb speculation is also a huge factor in housing costs soaring. Foreigners buying blocks of units has skewed the whole market in large cities.
MJ
Well, the clinic is used by many but it is in Manila and will only see you for your service connected disability.
Thank you for the information, short and sweet !,Hello from Sydney, can’t wait to get back there !regards Jimmy
Out of topic a bit. Gio, can you make a video when you hear about the SRRV coming back and available.
For sure
Its changed a lot over my 5 years of visiting. Best advice is stay away from internet girls.
But aren't those "non" internet girls you meet at their job online the minute you are gone?

Food 2x the cost, no only if you are eating a strictly western diet.
Thanks for the info. cool video.
Interesting vlog with useful and common sense advice.
I'm visiting in September first visit. Approaching retirement want to see what the options are. Finding a long term partner isn't at the top of my list of priorities. Paul (The Old Dog New Tricks) gave good advice from his experience when he said "Slow Down"
A lot of boxes have to be ticked before I get round to finding someone to settle down with!
What you say about long term stability with an older guy makes sense but ultimately I think it's about:
Being settled yourself
Finding the right person
Research
Having a realistic budget and living within it
Seems sensible to me not to rush onto any of those.
😊
Great stuff gio thanks
My pleasure!
The main issue I see with having a young Filipina girl is that 90% want children. If you’re over 60 that’s not a track you’re going to want to go down.
True
I am over 60 and plan on a baby, no problem.
Maybe because they want someone to be their side when you are very old and suddenly died. They don't want to left alone.

Thanks!
Hi
You wrote my question for me.
Thanks Gio for this informative Video........Geno
I know Thais and a Indonesian that are 30, you would think they were 18 or 20. And they have there shit together as we say here in the States.
Good information Gio, thanks.
Hi gio just stumbled across this is great intel, yep best Intel is boots on the ground, Best wishes to you guys, take care Tommy Smith (Smitty)
Thanks, you too!
Enjoy brother👍🏼
Looks like it ruined it sorry.
Perfect response lol
Thanks for the info .
Any time!
Thanks for the video..what town do you live?
In Malaysia currently
How to get in contact with expats for more conversation like RUclips comments? Expats who knows somebody who wants to meet somebody or something like that?
