Wow, you got your box fast! I only received the shipping notice for the book yesterday evening and I suspect I won't get the book until Tuesday or Wednesday... The mug is ok, nothing too exciting. The pads are nice! I've been seeing the pop up in other boxes recently too. Annotation kit is nice too. Reminds me of their design for their planner 2 years ago. Though, how is the quality for the post-its? A few of the past items have not worked the greatest because the sticky side was not sticky enough. They'd just fall off the paper once taken off the stack of sticky notes unfortunately. The Scholomance series is by Naomi Novik. OC did a special edition of the first book, A Deadly Education, but not the other 2. There was some controversy about her using dread locs in a disrespectful manner. The author did apologize for it. I LOVE the whole series, though the first is the best. Very much a dark academia series and a new magic system that I really enjoyed. I originally skipped the special edition and totally regretted it after reading it (though I did manage to find a very reasonably priced copy of it on Pango.) Tea is nice. Always appreciate a usable item. I really agree about pins. I don't love this series either though. They don't seem well made. The slider doesn't work that smoothly from any that I've seen or the 2 that I have. I'm looking forward to getting Masquerade of the Heart. I don't think that one has shipped yet but hopefully soon. I did get a shipping notice for Hearts That Cut, so hopefully will get that this coming week too. Ooh, I like that cover! I'm a sucker for dragons. I haven't read Spin the Dawn yet, but I did just start Six Crimson Swans today by the same author. I have to admit, I like the blue. Purples and blues are my favorite colors, so I don't complain when my books show up in those colors. I liked the end pages. I'd like more stenciled edges as well but I think you want them more than I do! lol!

Yeah, I'm not sure what the order is for them to ship out boxes but if they go alphabetically by last name, my last name starts with "A" and plus I am not too far from their warehouse in Oregon where they ship from so I tend to get my boxes relatively quickly. Although I've had a few that went entirely the wrong direction as they were misplaced, love when that happens >.< Truth, the quality of their items are not always great and yes, the stickiness of tabs and post-it notes can make or break those products. And you are so right about the sliding pins. It was a cool idea to do a pin that was different but they do not slide smoothly at all and I feel like I'm gonna break them when I slide them. Ooop and there is why I did not know about the Scholomance series, I didn't realize it was by Naomi Novik. I read Uprooted and while I didn't outright hate it, I decided to never read a book by her again, don't enjoy her writing style. So glad that you were able to get a special edition copy of A Deadly Education since you loved it, too bad they didn't complete the series though in matching special editions. And I made a mistake, I totally thought it was shipping for Masquerade of the Heart but it was for Hearts That Cut but we should be getting shipping for Masquerade soon I'm sure. I did enjoy Spin the Dawn and plan on reading Six Crimson Swans, I hope you end up enjoying it! Blues and purples are great colors, especially together. And lol, yeah I feel like the sprayed edges are like the pins for me, I'm just over it. Like if the only choices were sprayed edges or plain edges of course, I would pick sprayed edges. BUT I know there is an even cooler option which is stenciled edges so that is what I want! Lol, I'm a petulant child 🤣

It really is one of those series I recommend a lot because I enjoyed it, but totally get when you find an author that you just dislike! Masquerade of the Heart is one I really am looking forward to so I have been watching its ship date. So far (as of 2-3 days ago) the OC website still says TBD. :( Still have not gotten my book, though today is still an option. Was supposed to be yesterday but it was still 2 hours away when I tracked it last night. I'm a "G" but do live in the Midwest. It's just frustrating when you pay so much for shipping and it still takes over a week to get to you! OC's quality of items is definitely a big reason I switched to book only. I got tired of things I couldn't use or had to fix. Do you remember that leaf shaped soap dish? Probably about a year ago at this point, but that was when I knew something was wrong with their quality control. It was so flimsy, the writing was already half-scratched off and I didn't even want a replacement, it was so bad.

And that is not a bad idea, I can check if any of my friends own Deadly Education but it not, I can always check out the library. I was so disappointed that I didn't enjoy Novik's writing style in Uprooted, I wholey expected to love the novel and continue reading her work. 😖 And boo, Masquerade of the Heart was supposed to be shipped in June but as of today it says that it was delayed and expected to ship mid-July. Thankfully not too long of a delay. Right?! I feel like if we spend all that money it should be 2-day shipping for everyone 😅 And yes I remember the leaf soap dish, I litterally ran into mine just a few days ago cleaning a bathroom cabinet that I had shoved it into and forgot about. I do not blame anyone for going to a box only for any book box sub tbh!

I saw that about Masquerade, that they had a problem with the printer and it was delayed. I do wish they had sent an email, but at least it was somewhere! I didn't end up getting my box until the next Thursday. It got stuck for day somewhere then there was the national holiday with no USPS deliveries. But I did get it and the special edition at the same time!

Illumicrate and fairyloot had the facewash pads and I was kinda sad that I wasn’t going to get it and when I open my box from owlcrate I was so so happy!! But I also got the same book twice from illumicrate and owlcrate😞 but still happy!!
Aw yay, so glad you got the facewash pads! Always a bummer when book box subs have the same book. I know many people keep the edition that they like more and then sell the other edition but as a book dragon & hoarder, I just want 2 different books per month so I can has more books 🤣

I liked the Scholomance series, but I since I love most of Naomi Novik books, it's not a surprise. I liked this box, though I'm unfamiliar with the book. It looks pretty good, but I'm disappointed that Illumicrate will be doing the same book. I wonder how they'll differ, if at all. I was still on the wait list when the first cup was released, so I won't have them all.
You are not alone in your love for Naomi Novik, I am almost annoyed with myself that I did not enjoy her writing 😆 I may give the Scholomance series a shot one day though as it seems like a book I would enjoy. And I finished Of Jade and Dragons a few days ago, while I didn't love the book I did like it and enjoyed reading it, I hope you have a positive experience with it as well! Always a bummer when book boxes end up doing special editions for the same book however, I do know that the special editions typically are different between the different book subs. Glad you were able to get off the waitlist! If you end up wanting the first cup, sometimes people sell individual items from book boxes on Ebay or better yet, Owlcrate may put extras for sale in their shop 💕
I chose to skip this one. I don’t regret it but it was def a nice box! I’m also so over pins. I’ve heard this book is for fans of Spin the Dawn. It’s like a STEM Mulan from reviews I’ve read.
I'm not even half-way thru and yes, it is definitely a STEM Mulan. I think I will end up liking it as much as I did Spin the Dawn, so not hate but only like, not a book I'll love but at least I'm still enjoying it.
I've waited to watch this video because I didn't get my box till day and I was really surprised I because I felt the opposite about it. I was so disappointed in this box.I wish I had skipped. The tea is nice but everything else is not for me. The main reason I got the box Was for the book And I did not like their redesign. I thought the original cover was much better. Last month's book had such gorgeous end papers and cover . I just really didn't think there was much effort Put into this book by comparison.😢
SO valid! I will say that while I liked the overall cover on the book, the end papers were really bad and I am so over sprayed edges. I can totally understand the disappointment though that this box wasn't a win for you overall! We get so excited to unbox something and then when its not great, it just sucks. Hopefully the next box will be better 💕
