    Really hope this product is successful for Zoom tbh. They were one of the beginning products for the modeling world and now aren't in any of the conversations between L6, Kemper, Axe FX etc. There's no bass models in the G11 nor the G6 so it was a no brainer to purchase a Line 6 Helix LT over the G11 even though the G11 is going brand new at $599. Remember the original price was to be around $8-900 so the product might not be selling as much as they'd hoped it would.

      @@JonIsJustTooLoud I just purchased this G6 and was delivered this past weekend. Your video seems to be the one of the most informative but I must ask.. I am a novice to intermediate guitar player and this is my first effects processor board.. The back panel section of your video you have the send and return external loop, Output right and left/mono.. as of right now I have a cable coming out of the left/mono and directly into the input of my Boss Katana MKII 2x12 amp.. The input of the amp is usually where I would plug a guitar straight into but as mentioned I have this processor plugged in instead... is this the best way? or is there a better way to plug this into an amp? I see in your video you have a black tip cable coming out of the left/mono and a blue tipped cable coming out of the right.. if you don't mind sharing where and how you are plugging this board into your setup? as mentioned I going from left/mono right into the amp input and some of the videos including yours ive seen have multiple cables coming out of the back and they are not setup like mine... just a little confused. Please advise. Ty in advance. Cj

    Thank you for actually demonstrating the looper function. Most guitar centric reviews skip right over the looper functions/operation. I have been considering the Boss RC-10r as a rhythm looper...but for $100 more this comes with the full guitar processor integrated, and I like zoom products. It looks like the only thing that the RC10 offers is the ability to trigger rhythm transition fills with the foot switch. I also watched your video on the G11 and it looks like the looping function is similar to the G6. This is going to be a tough decision. I appreciate any insight/thoughts you have on your experience with the looper functionality.

    I’ve had the g3 for years because it has good delays and reverbs, a looper, and battery power.
    I’m thinking of upgrading because you can store multiple loops on the the g6 with a memory card. You can’t do that on the line 6 products. I just hope it has different reverbs and delays than the g3. I also own a ms-70 that I use for a synth.

  • @nazmoking3171

    Got some curiosity Jon - great vid by the way. Can you adjust the settings (such as volume or level of effect etc) on those individual pedals on the touch screen of the pedal itself or are you having to do that with a connected PC and then save it to the G6 from the PC?

  • @brainycrunches2359
    @brainycrunches2359 3 года назад +9

    Hi, Jonathan. Maybe you did not like the sound of the default cab because the mic was off. For some weird reason, Zoom always did that.

    • @Case_
      @Case_ 3 года назад +5

      This is such a weird choice from Zoom, seriously. Why would anyone want to add cab simulator to their patch, but with the mic turned off? It makes no sense. I can kinda sorta understand that decision in the factory presets (not really, but kinda), but if you're manually adding a cab block into your patch, it should always turn the mic on.

    • @damasterkarej
      @damasterkarej 3 года назад

      Yes, I was going to type same. You know tyle trick when you already had same problem before with your Zoom multieffect ;) Please, upload quick video where your show MIC on/off. That will change a lot. And put time based effects between amp and cab.

    • @damasterkarej
      @damasterkarej 3 года назад

      And mic is off because it doesn't sound good with "on" when you put device into normal amp, which have its own speaker. That's why :)

    • @Case_
      @Case_ 3 года назад +1

      @@damasterkarej Yes, but you don't put a cabinet simulator block in your patch in the first place if you use the multieffect through a normal guitar amp/cab/combo, because why would you do that? It's pointless to do so, the cab sim serves no purpose in that case. Sure you need an option to turn the cab sim off quickly/conveniently without removing the cab sim block from your patch in case you need to run your direct setup patch in front of an amp, but the default when you add the block to your patch should still be "mic on". There's no real use case for a cab sim block with the mic off (as far as I'm aware).

    I like how you can add any combination of effects you like on these Zoom pedals, compared to other cheap-ish multieffects. It's nice to have the option to use more than one effect from the same block in your chain. But on the other hand, the memory limit seems pretty strict. That patch of yours wasn't even that complex, and you were already at 100%.
    Also, in the memory mode with the four presets, I was wondering - can you pick which presets there are, as in jump between banks or out of order, or are they always just four consecutive patches?

I chose the G5, then was spewing when I saw the G5n overtake the G5 in just about every way. Great video as always! I would like to know if the G6 has the processing capability in terms of sound quality and IR quality equal or very close to the G11?
    I want to buy the G6 but I would like to know if when importing external IR's to use in the pedalboard, if the processing power of the G6 would make them sound as good as on the G11?

      They are very different machines.. both have their strong points. For me .. I’m biased because I am a line 6 Helix user. I prefer the PodGo as I’m more familiar with the layout. My advice is to try them physically if possible before you make any decisions ✌️❤️

    Ok, so the FX are the stripped down versions we got with the G3n/G5n/G1Four line. Bummer. I preferred the way they were with the G3/G5/MS line. It's really kind of sad, as now we have an FX-loop, which makes 4CM possible, but we have the dumbed down effects.
    Does the G6 offer output modes?

    Jonathan, I am planning on buying the G6 or the G11soon. I previously owned the G5n but sold it because the situation with the dsp limitations. I read somewhere online that the G11 has more processing dsp than the G6 does...do. you know if that is true? I know you have reviewed both units. Love your channel and you too !

      Don't do that, man. Stay away from these Zoom boards. I had the G5 and faced the same problem.
      I'm afraid that the G6 is just as bad.
      Take a careful look at the video and you'll notice that all pedals still take the same amount of processing power as they take in the G5.

      You can use the stereo 1/4 inch outs into your interface. Alternatively, you can use the USB but you will have to set some settings on your computer so you can have the G6 output coming into your computer.. still confused? Try googling about G6 connection options✌️❤️

    How many presets does it come with? I have Digitech rp350, rp355, rp360xp and they come with 70/100 presets each. Plus I could tweak them and store them as user. With this G6, would I be able to do the same? I don’t really create “patches” if that’s what they are called. I just pick presets.
    I finally bought me my first real guitar “a Fender American Ultra single coiled”, I was using an old Squier, and my nephews new Squier to play guitar, I’m a song writing bass player.
    But because of this new technology & use with the computer & software, I preordered this Zoom G6 so I could give the creating my own effect patches a shot.
    This seems to be easier to do with the touch screen & using the touch screens capability. But I’ll still have fun with the presets and tweaking them to my liking and storing them. Any response would be appreciated.
    Nice video & reveiw, Thanks.
