The Noumenal Void was first conceived as a soundtrack to the documentary feature film, The Poetry of Illusion, but not in a conventional, illustrative sense. Instead, the music is intended to be a direct path to the spirit at its very heart.
This spirit is a most present and available energy. It is the animating force that represents our world in all its unique colour and sensation. It is our boundless, creative, inner experience of being open to the infinite.
More often than not our experience is constricted and corrupted by a lifetime of belief and anxiety. Art, literature and music can liberate us from this neurosis by lifting us from the mundane and conventional and granting us access to the numinous. Of all the arts, music offers the most immediate and direct passage. Like discovering a magical portal to another land.
We must prepare ourselves carefully for the journey. Too often we are distracted by impulses and compulsions that leave us agitated and unable to sink deeply into the rich energies that forever call. We must cultivate our natural stillness, instead of indulging the superficial monkey mind, constantly reaching and jabbering for the next something. Only then can deep and inexhaustible gifts be revealed to us.
Gently prepare a time, place and space to enter the noumenal void. It will always welcome you as its most beloved.
