Apple attracts young people by making their products a status symbol. You're no longer cool unless you have the latest overhyped gadget from Apple. This appeals more to teenagers who are looking more to fit in. They also gear their products towards young 'artists' and not engineers in college because one of the first things you'll learn in engineering is that no one uses an Apple computer.
The question is why would anyone want to use underpowered, overinflated and garden-walled appliances? This is beyond me, but then I'm not a teenager. Having said that, schools get "assistance" for using Apple hardware and I had to literally show daughter that everything she does on her school sanctioned $2000 macbook I could do with a $300 Chromebook.

I own a iphone 6s and macbook pro 2011, they both still work, but apple thinks they are vintage and should be replaced, I still think not, as both meet my needs, particularly on the iphone 6s I see apps losing support, isn't good, as I know android 4 just started losing support for apps in 2023 and Android 8 still gets plenty of apps, I've put linux mint on the macbook, will likely last until the cpu dies because you can replace the ram and storage easily, meaning easy maintenance, used to only own budget android devices, but recently i found offerings of modern to be lacking, took to buying a oneplus 7t used, was amazing except it didnt work wirh my carrier, but aside from phone usage it was quick and capable and did anything i wanted it to do with ease even emulating ps2 games easily, it was a good powerful device, blew any budget android out of the water, but now as a actual phine i have a 6s

Well I think most of people just like simplicity and convenience - and of course: a little swag ;).
