This kid just taught me something most us forget and that's stop using excuses for reasons your struggling to master a craft this kid came in a shop full of pros with a massive disadvantage with only having 1 fully functional arm and hand and he out tig welded me and everyone of my friends with no tigging experience and a massive disadvantage and you can tell he wants to learn it so bad he's not letting anything stop him. My hats off to this kid he's gonna end up being a great tig welder
My biggest excuse was the cost of gas, went through two tanks and it got to be little too expensive when I didn’t even have a real welding project. I learned the basics and didn’t get any further.
You got it his disadvantages are his major advantages .. I learned how to tig weld buy being handed a cylinder head and told take this welder and fix the holes in this head weld up seat area my only pointer was take as long as you need peen the weld after and during if it is on cast so it dont crack heat in the part is your friend do not over think it everyone is afraid of tig welding due to the school girl bull shit I had already knew how to braze as I brazed up cast iron cylinder heads parts daily just like aluminum heat is your friend heat Stix were my best teacher ever playing with heat soak in cast and weld quality was key . The industry and premadona pipe welders and there whole cert bull shit I been certified in multiple positions and classes tig mig and stick .. like I was saying people tell you what you need to do with to much input you can set the machine up to where you can throw down on peddle and roll the whole bead weld without lifting . The industry overthinks it they make tig welding out to be some snake oil witchcraft when tbt all these pretty welds on super metals are just that pretty titanium aluminum stainless mild steel to tool steel it all is the same shit one takes less heat to weld with uniformity fit up is key or you will be learning how to fill a nice solid piece this young man has more ability then 90 percent of society today they watch videos of tig welding and think they have to fallow suit best way to learn lincoln and miller use to send a manual to there welders along with charts for different types and thickness material read one of them books and you will be set to go no nonsense straight to point the whole gas scare is true and blown out of proportion it's not just the gas it's the heat in the material causing you to have to pay more attention to the gas post flow move around weld other parts keeping heat soak down and presto . I workedfor a architectural engineering buisness that built aluminum and breezeways or covered for schools there made of thin aluminum panels the ends are capped I started out fuse welding for 10 hr days 6 days week fuse welding end caps until the lead man got sick and I was asked to weld up the brass and copper gutters rich people like to install as gutters the boss asked if inwould try to weld up some practice scrapbif I can do it then he might have merely the corners together as well as the decorative shit he came out from being pulled away I was already weldingbthe corners he praised me like inwas God I told him people overthink and process this shit
Absolutely...I thought I wouldn't be able to do it because I have a hand that doesn't work well from a disability and he just did it without the use of a left hand. Guess I'm gonna try harder. Also listening to Jason taught me how more than most videos so, back @ it
This is to everyone at Tin Soldiers, I truly appreciate everything you guys did for me, that everyone took the time to show me their own tricks to the art of it I hope to see everyone again, either at the shop or the track, also thanks to the man himself Jason for the lunch now I need them to build a chipotle in my neighborhood now 😂
You did a great job of teaching Jason. Of course I wished I would have won but I think you can't think of a better guy that won. I'm happy for him. Great things happen for a reason!
Man I can respect that man 110% way better than my first time tig welding. I turned it into one big goop and haven’t touched it since. That’s been over 10 years ago. Mans giving me confidence to maybe try and tig again.
That guy is an inspiration. Never Tig welded and he is killing it on the first day. Way to go Shelby. Tin Soldier, you guys are awesome for doing things like this.
I did a bit of spot mig welding 40 years ago, you guys have inspired me to learn more. I picked up an entry level machine , starting with flux core, but got my gas bottle yesterday. It's a skill I plan to share with my sons. Great video.
I am so happy he won. Great family. TSR guys. You are good people. God Bless u all. Winning this going to be one of best things in his life. Happy Thanksgiving. Thx for putting out vid that made me smile. I needed it 😎👍
That young man is awesome, he can do anything he puts his mind to. Much respect to him and his family! It is obvious that his family has given him support and never said "you can't do that"
This video gave me a lot of faith. I am not going to say I lost faith but it has been waning. The whole thing, the mom getting the shirt for him to learn. The person who learned it. Jason not shying away from the challenge but embracing it. This couldn’t be scripted better. God is the best writer, thank you Jason, Tin soldier, the winner Shelby, his mom for wanting this and believing in her son, and most importantly God for making this happen. All praise be with God.
I really like my Everlast Powertig 200DV, not as fancy as them Typhoon units, but certainly gets the job done. I live in Florida, the welder being in my garage the Everlast power cable lasted about 2 years before the argon hose rotted at the backside of the Dinse
Jason, God Bless You Sir. You're inspiration on how other's should strive to live there lives. Dude you could be a Tig Welding Teacher. You have that knack to relate to the student, And encourage the students progress. Im glad to see this young man be the winner of this fantastic prize.
There is a special place for you, sir!! Fantastic job, especially with somebody with a disability. Making the impossible...possible... what a great video!!)
He did an amazing job man seems like a really cool kid I'd like for you to catch up with him and see how he's doing later on that would be awesome and as always all you and your team do an amazing job every time sir keep it up fellas we love to see it
Also the ending of the video reminded me. Thank you for the bandanna. A friend of mine was up at the old man’s event and swung by the facility. I was stuck at home with my son because he was sick. Appreciate you guys! I wrapped it around the sun visor on my truck. Also repping the tin soldier decal on it.
I've never welded before, always wanted to learn. This video is awesome! I feel like I understood the lesson and actually did learn something. Hat's off to y'all
So glad that That individual won. I lost 4 fingers on my left hand but still try TIG welding to feel whole but struggle with feeding wire and dabbing in puddle! Great give away and I also own a Everlast multi purpose welder!
Mr. Mckenny lol we had alot of fun and some serious dad talking to lol 😂 remember that Geo we made one day when he wasn't there and put it in his cage lol
Well i learned something. I absolutely hate tig welding because i get frustrated quickly. I always just grab the mig….. im a “get it done guy” not a “make it perfect guy”. I think i will start practicing more though. 👍
