- Prime Minister Keir Starmer has given a major speech at Downing Street about his plans for government ahead of parliament's return from the summer recess next week.
Sir Keir said "growth is the number one priority of this Labour government", adding "things are worse than we ever imagined" after discovering a £22bn "black hole" in the public finances.

This is indeed the case, with 9.4 million of working age claiming that they are too sick to work. What kind of idiot really believes that 25% of those of working age can't work? There must be several million receiving benefits that they definitely shouldn't be getting. Putting a stop to this would go a good way to filling that economic black hole!

@@markeastwood74 Pensioners are the richest segment of society. They have houses and pensions (from when they were actually useful). The Tories gave them free money without checking whether they needed that money to buy their votes. It's a terrible waste of resources. The people that actually need resources are typically younger people. Look at the cost of housing etc.
