You both are so hilarious…feeding off the carb cow and trying desperately to figure out next meal plan. I feel you. Sleep is so important especially for women who cook with love, takes everything out of you with the most satisfying heart. 💛From Northern California

Years ago when we visited friends in Texas, they took us to an HEB store. It was great, even back then. If you find you don't use all your fresh herbs, you can always leave them on the stem, tie a string around them, and hang them till they dry out. No waste! ~ Kir (and Ron)

Ohh yea! We visited relatives just outside of Austin.. in Backstrop? TX. We went to an HEB for the first time... Man.. it was like the Disney World of grocery stores. The only trouble was.. it was SO HOT the ice cream never made it home.
😫 . It was also the first time we ate at a SONICS on the way to the Texas Hill Country. A very interesting trip.

Here’s a little dish washing tip to save water. Pick up a half gallon pesticide pump sprayer from Walmart and use that to rinse the dishes after soaping them up. It works GREAT!!

Man! My wife and I were shocked to see you are right outside San Antonio, where we live. I'm a pharmacist for H.E.B. glad to see you liked the store. It's the best grocery store chain in the country! Hope you enjoy your stay in Fredericksburg, its a neat town and has a unique variety of places to eat and shop down the main strip.

I love watching you guys. I grew up in Arkansas as well. I owned a nobo 10.6. I hated seeing that yours was stolen. However, when you come to Texas there are three religious experiences that you have to experience. 1.) Buc-ee's 2.) Whataburger's and 3.) H-E-B. HEB stands for Howard E Butt, the guy who founded it. However, they now say "here everything is better".

And another hillbilly camper suggestion for your pantry would be to hit a military surplus store and buy a large 30mm ammo can the type with release levers and handles on both sides. They are great for bread, chips, cookies or any other items you don't want to get crushed while jostling around in your camper. They are airtight and water tight. I suggest drilling a hole in it and installing a pressure relief valve though otherwise they become hard to open if you go from high to low altitude. You can usually find those at Farm and Fleet or Tractor supply stores as replacement parts for air compressors. You can weld hasps on the ends too that protrude through the handles that you can put D rings on and chain it to a tree through the handles while camping in bear country as well to use as anti bear boxes for your food or other smelly items that they might be attracted to.

That 30 bag isn’t for winter y’all, down or not. Go with a sub-0 bag because you never know when you’ll lose heat. Throw a hot hands packet down in the foot of the bag & keep a water bottle in there too so you don’t waste fuel melting ice. When your qt Nalgene bottle is frozen solid, that’s a cold night. Love your vids.

Your mention of HEB definitely got our attention because not only is it a great store it is a Texas tradition--and we live about 1/2 mile from an amazing one! Hope you enjoy your stay here and remember, in Texas the weather can change quickly from day to day--so far this winter has been more like spring so you should have some warm weather soon.

I enjoy A Day in the Life vlogs. So this camping property is like a hip camp. It's cool land owners with large properties open up some of the land to campers. I like this idea. Plenty of space for privacy. The HEB store looked like there was lots of fresh produce. Kellie, I like to cook too so I would like this store . Sometimes I have to go to two grocery stores per week to find the items I need. Your recipes for the week sound delicious. Thanks for showing us how you organize your camping life. Enjoy the hills of Texas!

Just an FYI those blue Walmart water jugs are crap and will not last very long. They UV out real quick and crumble. If they set out and get cold or frozen they will crack and leak. The slightest ding on any of the corners will make them leak and if you haven't noticed it yet the spigots suck when you are trying to fill a water bottle without a funnel without losing half of your water since they spray water all directions like a shower head. Even setting empty, sheltered and unused for any significant time the plastic dries out and they will crumble on you. The only way to get any life out of them is to get a roll of duct tape, put a bunch of strips on the corners, bottom and handle then wrap the whole jug up like a mummy and never leave it outside in the cold. Since you guys have money to blow I would suggest hitting an off road vehicle store and buying some of those expensive steel jerry cans for water. You can hit a hardware store buy a spigot, some rubber washers and a nut then drill a hole in one near the bottom and install a real spigot. I've gone through a dozen of the Walmart jugs over the years and now I just stick to multiple 2 liter bottles the thick ones that name brand soda comes in for water storage and a food grade plastic bucket I drilled out and installed a plastic spigot with rubber washers that I bought at beer brewing supply place for wash water and such. You can buy buckets there too with them installed but they are typically 6 gallon bucket fermenters which are too big for me for camping so I look for the little 2 or 3 gallon ones I can find for free from a dumpster behind a restaurant and clean it up. Nothing sucks worse than rolling into camp just to find all of your water has leaked out and drowned your gear.

toothpaste, gnocchi, chicken....the stuff of life, LOL. We are recovering backpackers turned full time RV travelers and we can truly relate to frost on the tent in the am! We really enjoy your channel. I agree with the OP who recommended HEB there in TX. The hill country is amazing. Hope you got to check out the LBJ ranch and enchanted rock.Be well, stay warm!

HEB is one of the things we will miss the most once we've moved to Arkansas. We have really large one right down the street with free curbside service.
