The Bio-Chemistry major dropped out of school to film Do The Right Thing with no prior training and the rest was history. Perez gets into her relationship with Jennifer Lopez, and how the media tried to play off of their feud and also talks about her personal experience with post traumatic stress disorder. Perez has overcame a tremendous amount when it comes to abuse and her relationship with her mother, but the actor and writer doesn't give away all the details of her experiences because they can be found in her new book, A Handbook For An Unpredictable Life.

I was a server at a restaurant that was hosting the 40 Acres crew one afternoon while they were filming in Bed Stuy. Rosie was there. She stopped me while I was clearing the table to ask my name and introduced herself as "Rose"..Totally down to earth and an absolute gem of a women. She does work to support education for children. Love her.

That is some childhood story. She is fortunate to have made it through with her mind intact. As we know most do not...Anyway, I logged into to say that her quote was very inspiring about "stability, love, real connections and money for healthcare" and is GOLDEN. And look how much the woman has grown mentally and spiritually! You can't put monetary value on that. This is an example of living a meaningful life.

There was always a level of respect I had for Rosie, but now that has risen up a few more levels. She is so brave for coming on here and talking about this stuff. A woman who has been through what she's been through is not easy to deal with, but you would never know that because we only know her on movies and tv. Props for sure.

That Rosie Perez is a CLASS ACT and a talented, beautiful woman. Did ya'll hear what she said? Her success is the quality of life. A commenter on the Dish Nation video talkin' bout 'she not as successful or a star like JLo;'' but in actuality, Rosie is just as successful and a star as JLo because to Rosie achieving the quality of life she desired was her being successful. For some, being famous, having lots of money, a perfume line and clothing line, starring in multiple movies and making many videos is success to them. But it's how one measures success that's the key because success means different things to different people...I will have to check out & get a copy of her book. I felt so sad how she was treated by her mom.
I loved her in Do the Right Thing.
She was completely different from anyone in my community when I was a kid.
She was loud, honest, strong and seemed confident. Plus I loved her accent.
Rosie Was BEFORE Jennifer Lopez. And Rosie seemed to be the 1 to push getting Jennifer on the In living color show. THAT is why we even know jlo.

Love Rosie. She's a beautiful and smart woman. However, I'm Puerto Rican, and grew up in a poor family, and we were not abused by our parents. She almost makes it sound like every poor person of color has been abused by a parent or someone in their environment. There's no more abuse going on with people of color than with whites. There's love, and abuse, everywhere.
