What about the Z coordinate? If the contractor wants to know how much material they need too remove from the site?

Not fully explained, after getting distances from free station to E and F, how do I get points ABCD???
search online for a resection , and how a total station work !
Once u know A and B the station can map the entire site...so if you have the coordinates for c and d it will locate it for u
Sorry for the late reply, but once the resection is done, you will save the coordinates of all other points as fixed points in the memory, and then from the stake-out program you can set them out.
The idea with the local coordinate system is to be able to calculate the coordinates of any point easier.
