I wonder who has time for that. I only built stuff that was not available to buy in that form, like a special tube guitar amp and some pedals that would otherwise cost a fortune (and only take one or two hours to build from a kit).
For a lot of us, DIY is kinda the only way to get into this stuff. I say that as a person born in the 21st century, from and in a country far too poor to engage in Western socialist ideas like "minimum wage". Then there are of course many many more for whom its a fun craft that gives them some sense of fleeting purpose/reason/belonging/serenity, while still allowing them to save some money. There's no place for your myopia here.
