I'm Latin from El Salvador (Hispanic) but I love Soca music and this guy was my favorite singer along with "Byron Lee". I still have cassette tapes from Super Blue from 1995. I learnt about soca music while living in the USA, there were Trinis and Jamaicans in my neighborhood. The best music in the world ♥
Waaaay! I was jumpin in dis fete my last Carnival before moving to de states in '93! This was Calypso Fiesta in Skinner Park! We fete whole day in and out de rain waitin fuh Blue Boy to mash down de stage! Soca was de bess back then bwoy!!!! Eh eh!!!
Oh gosh! Ah love how he big up my home town SAN FERNANDO!!! And to blogger who comment about de barricade. YES, we mash it down before party done!!! We real geh on in dem days nah!!! BACCHANAL IN SKINNER PARK!!!!
Cuz the music being produced in the local studios nowadays is crap no vibes and subpar production. As for the violence, there was violence then and now. However the vibes seemed more easy going longtime.
So nostalgic, timeless lol. Watching people in de savannah. This will never ever get old. Definitely not my era but as a Trini you could always just see yourself there. 🥰🥰🇹🇹🇹🇹
their is no soca artist with lyrics and crowd overwhelming performance than blue had his time and still tear down the place in this time he is soca not just wine or jump or wave soca baptise Rebecca Ethel story songs but you still jumping and waving his talent is fervent bless up blue
Mr Super Blue. Mr Great Super Blue. One of my favourite artists. Love you so much since I lived in Trinidad since childbirth till 19. I live in Canada now. We all love you. You’re Energetic, great vibes, stamina, good looks, warm , beautiful, make us so happy, make us dance, you’re sunshine,Trinidadian, our African roots, our Indian roots, our culture, our people, our proud people, slavery couldn’t break our spirits. Our ancestors are with us in spirit. Mother Africa, Mother India. We live peacefully together. They can’t break us. They try no matter what part of the world we go. We stick up for our rights, our beautiful calypsonians and family teach us to be beautiful and free. Our music, our calypsonians, our limbo, steel drums, we are always helping each other. We love you so much Super Blue. You’re great. God bless you.
Those were the days when you made the trip to South and made it an Excursion then it became a Lime then a Fete all in one. I am sad to say those days are long gone. Oh I almost forgot the best part was if you couldn't make then you would watch it on TV to see who you know. Alot of people made it there early to just to be in front for the cameras. Great times.
Wey sah Up 2 now after almost 20yrs still avent seen anybody 2 truly mash a crowd like Mr S.Blue ur here NO Oneeeeee at all an that goes 2 show u d kind of artiste dis man was and still is after such a long period of time so doh matter what we still have to give him his respect bcuz it is well deserving. I no 4 many of u all u agree dat d timz has change indeed but don't matter how mh timz change u can neva forget wher u truly come from,U must r.ber ur FOUNDATION n Mr Super Blue is pt of dat!!!!
The jump and wave era was the best. Those days you could’ve walked from Skinner Park to Harris Promenade without worrying about being robbed. Different times.
Yes, there was a time on Eastern Parkway you could just hear drums and the crowd would immediately sway. I remember Dahved Levy chanting, "Watch this, Listen...Africa, Africa, AFRICA, AFRICA!" We knew what he meant.
Super will always be known as the Road March King. Along side next to Kitchener and Sparrow. He looks better. When he use to had his mustache. He looks terrible without it. He needs to grow it back. He was truly the King of the Road March. In the early 1990's. Big Up Mr. Austin Lyons a/k/a Super Blue. He is the flip side of Eddy Grant.
Not only time has change, so did ppl attitude when it comes to feteing.. Now-a-days (Not to sound ole, i'm only 23 lol) yes as i was saying :) now-a-days when ppl going fete dey either on bbm or recording who ever on stage performing, not to mention dey dressing up like if dey going in zen and afraid if dey get a lil mash...Like duh!!.. I remember Fay-ann saying some time ago on an interview that feteing has change in T&T while de other islands still has that "long time vibes T&T had"
Blue Boy, Super Blue controlling Skinner Park. Those were the days when cell phones did not control our lives, and all you had to study about was having money to go back home and if yuh drink finish. Pure madness in a good way.
Still watching in 2024. LEGEND!🎉🎉🎉
No soca artists now can rock a place like this. Facts

Mashing up the crowds generation after generation... Amazing
Why we generation can't have this kind of vibes without violence
still had violence then and now. there's nothing new under the sun.

I’m with Super Blue right now. He here rehearsing in Atlanta to do a show later on tonight.
I see so much of machel montano . This was the blue print for power soca . Machel does the same exact thing ....wow
Never in the history of our culture no body since ever ever vibrate the croud like this MAN, I DON'T THINK NOBODY EVER WILL
Yessss! That man energy is contagious. That crowd was going wild!
The Drummer is sharp, clean and Wicked,,,,,Booooooooom
Now that is crowd participation.
Oh Blue Boy what an era! Never to come again. Thank you.
The greatest performance ever. I was there and lost my mind to the carnival jumbie! Nothing can ever compare!
This is my trip Trinidad and Tobago and I'm proud of it.
This is the performance that revolutionized arena jam sessions, ie. Soca monarch
Super Blue + Sahadow the true Kings of soca. No question.
Church

My introduction to soca.... thank you. ❤🤗 loved it ever since.
The jump and wave era was the best. Those days you could’ve walked from Skinner Park to Harris Promenade without worrying about being robbed. Different times.
This the man who bring out get something an wave Mr SUPER BLUE
I had to be in the crowd somewhere, lol #goodtimes
Superblue!!! The king lives on.
dat guy in the yellow jersey from 2:57 is having too much fun lolol
Hahahhaa
Hahaha i would love to meet him in person lol good old days.
Am just looking at the outfits our fashion statements were lit lol.
imagine ten years before he won road march now twenty years later the title is his simple phenomenal
I finally realized why SOCA lost its soul, there is no African drums or rhythm in it any longer. You can hear the African Drums in the old soca.
Yes, there was a time on Eastern Parkway you could just hear drums and the crowd would immediately sway. I remember Dahved Levy chanting, "Watch this, Listen...Africa, Africa, AFRICA, AFRICA!" We knew what he meant.
true d spirits gone..
It move up to the small island dem. Trinidadians again trying to follow others and losing their soul in the process....😔
Rarely any drums and no brass/horn section in today's Soca
Well said so sad. @@makaveli2tt
De jump and wave Master!!!
Imagine having to perform after that 😂😂😂
Boy what a thing. Nice! That is sweet soca!

my jammmm when i was young frm my neighbors 💃🕺
watch dust in d air, they good make mas lol... good times
Hmm in 2019 Soca artistes could barely command 5 people in a crowd. These youngsters lacking charisma and stage presence.
Thats not true the music is much better now soca is reaching worldwide now.....
Jo sexbooker.. I totally disagree, no way is Soca music better now!!!!
I don't think it's the music as much but more the crowd prefer to stand up and look good
One of things that make Super Blue's music so infectious is that it is spiritual since he uses his Spiritual Baptist roots flavour in his music.
At 2.37 there's a goal with mask on.
She ahead of she time!
Legendary ❤❤❤@Superblue
