My current setup is the Xone42, 2 X1s, Audio8DJ, and, Maschine Traktor Pro 2. The Native Instruments products work really well together. I really like the Xone42. It sounds great and has the features that I want on it.
The Xone42's soudncard only has 1 stereo in and 1 stereo out. The stereo in comes through the Mic channel. I would advise getting an external soundcard for use with Traktor and the Xone42.
@thedjpodcast I do appreciate the input. I am still learning alot of this stuff. Got a long way to go. Just now advancing into a 4 CH piece. Thanks for the details!
@hol434 With the DJM, you'll get effects. With the Xone you'll get 1 filter. The DJm may also be a digital mixer where the xone is analog. They are both about the same price, so it's really up to you. I chose the build quality of the xone over the effects of the djm. I use Traktor, so I don't need the onboard effects.
Plug an RCA cable in to the recording out and the USB in. Then connect the Xone42 to your computer with a USB cable. You should be able to select the Xone soundcard in a program like Audacity for recording.
hey! i am thinking about buying the xone 42 with an x1. ive got the machine already and a laptop of course + traktor pro 2 would the xone 42 and x1 and machine and traktor work perfectly together what do you think? is it a senseful investment? will this components fit technically fit together?
I realy want to buy this mixer but there are some things i dont know for sure. Can i play 4 track decks with this mixer without needing a souncard ? so my setup would be 2 traktor kontrols x1 , this mixer and my laptop. can i play 4 decks with this without needing something els ? some one help please
Hey I have two Technics 1200 MK5's. Currently I am using it with a very, very basic mixer (stanton SMX 202). I also use serato. I am looking to upgrade my mixer and I am deciding between this mixer or a DJM 800. Which would you guys recommend. I would also be open to other suggestions
Ahh right i see what you mean! So like 1 input on the Audio 8 for one traktor channel and than control each deck with like 2 NI Kontrol X1's? I was just asking because i'm wanting to make a set-up with this mixer and 2 Kontrol X1's and was wondering if its possible to do....
who said anything about a cd player set up? i was refering to the mixer, which by the way i've been using for months, it's ok nothing special, decent filters good db out put and ok kill swithes
Im struggling to record a mix, i have an rca to phono jack lead. this plugs into record out on my xone 42 and then the jack goes into the headphone socket on my macbook pro, i have set audacity to stereo input etc. but i get nothing recording.......SOMEONE PLEASE HELP !
Probably old news now, but in Mac sound settings you can change the headphone output to be act as a stereo input by changing the preference in the output tab- use audio port for: input or output
TheChalkywhite have you tried phono pre amp running from mixer to laptop ? USB Phono plus is what I use...into Audacity. I play nothing but vinyl and it works for me.. The other issue is mac books don't have any recording inputs..I have one sitting here doing nothing.Tried the same thing as you..I contacted a Mac repair place to double check as well. They are apparently built that way..Nothing to do with inputs... Saying that everyone these days seem to be experts about sweet fuck all..I tried and tried though....Good luck !!

Brilliant review- but I'm still searching if the external fx send is full prefade when fully clockwise ?
Does anyone know this answer?

and where does RCA goes? tnx
@Giano96 I would definitly recomend it if you're looking for a 4 channel mixer.
Yes. One stereo output for each channel.
Thedjpodcast, is a headphone monitoring pre or post EQ? And how accurate level meters are?
I use an Audio8DJ soundcard and route 4 channels from Traktor to each channel on the mixer. I then use a MIDI controller to control Traktor.
Is it still good in 2024?
I ask myself the same question, Comparing with the xone 23c
All I've heard is to avoid the 43 and 43c and go for the 42 instead. Siting common malfunctioning with many units.
If only it had two filters

the channel faders are smooth? or at the end of the root sound comes up suddenly?

you will need a soundcard with at least 4 inputs and outputs
How would you set-up traktor with this mixer given that it is not MIDI?
great review btw :)
Is this compatible with Serato? I'm struggling to make the connection. Feel free to respond with comments below.
Best mixer ever💚
Do you recommend it for my setup? I've got 2 dn-s1200 + Traktor Pro 2

try the booth out instead of record out,you might be better getting a soundcard instead of plugging it in directly to your headphone socket

Can you use Xone 42 with XDJ700 ?
Yes. Since the XDJ has a line output its easy to plug it into any of the Xones channels.
