  • @lynnejamieson2063
    @lynnejamieson2063 25 дней назад +5

    I’d say that in general, burger is used in the UK to define the style and presentation. If you were to request a chicken sandwich in the UK you’d likely receive some form of cooked chicken (most probably slices or chunks of roast chicken) between two slices of bread along with whatever else you have requested or is noted as the filling and with a little salad and maybe some crisps on the side, where a chicken burger, you know it’s likely to be either breaded or battered, more often than not one large piece served in a burger bun with established condiments and or toppings, the side will almost always be some type of chips, fries or wedges too.
    Oh and dryers are purely about personal preference in the UK. I live on my own and don’t really feel that I have a great need for one but pretty much everyone else in my family has one. To be honest though, if both the temperature and wind strength are in that sweet spot (which happens more than you’d think here), it doesn’t take that much longer to dry things outside on the washing line than it does to tumble dry them. Which is better for both the environment and your clothes etc…it also eliminates that chance of shrinking woollens by having them in the dryer for too long on too high a temperature…though it can increase the chances of stretching them if you don’t hang them right.

    A fair few houses in the UK have a 'Utility Room' which contains the washing machine, tumble dryer, sink, and in our case the downstairs toilet too, but where space is more of a premium yeah kitchen is the usual spot for washing machine. If you ask for a chicken sandwich in the UK you'll get chicken in 2 pieces of sliced bread.....

      27% only when the wind blows. For weeks on end the wind doesn't blow that much and the 12,000 wind turbines installed in the UK only supply around 3 to 5% of our electrical energy.

It's much like the claim that having solar on your roof provides a household with enough electricity for a year. Unfortunately 95% percent of it is generated in the summer months and practically zero when it is needed most on a cold winter's night.

      @@AlanMacleod-hv5ee . I’ve never seen anyone claim solar will power the house the whole year. There are however solar users that build up enough credit on their accounts that they have minimal electricity bills through winter. in the U.K. ideally you need solar with battery storage. Payback is somewhere between 6-10 years.
