Let me just say, I'm so glad to be a Canadian these days.
I can watch the craziness of it all from the comfort of my couch, during this c-19 lockdown, as I blaze the legal marijuana cigarette I bought at the dispensary, the next town over from me.
Apparently, in the next couple of weeks, my little town will be getting its own dispensary. That's pretty exciting as its kitty-corner from the drug store where I get my prescriptions. (I pay $2 a month thanks to our health care system!)
My daughter, who is very sick with cancer, doesn't have to pay very much for her meds at all, and is getting very excellent care from the palliative care team working with her.
Incidentally, if she so chose to use marijuana to ease her pain or symptoms, it would be covered.
I couldn't imagine living in the U.S. under these circumstances.
I couldn't imagine having to live under a government that, at every turn, refuses to embrace something as beneficial as social medicine.
Ok, so they don't want to pay a living wage... they could at least try to keep the underpaid workers relatively healthy enough to make the bosses more money.
Healthy workers = PROFITS, after all.
      ...
Maybe that's one thing this new administration might be able to do for the good of the U.S. people, with at least some compassionate support from the other side.
      ...
That's about all I have to say about that.
      ...
      😁
      Cheers!
Smoke 'em if you got 'em!

@xPositivityx bless Maybe consider this alternative interpretation: The 2nd amendement is one of the best tools to keep the US population suppressed. It gives an illusion of freedom and self-determination while for the longest time being an integral part of how society destroys itself.
The 2nd amendement is great in theory. But reality shows that it doesn't work at all. The USA is the richest country on earth yet it's population struggles to compete with third world countries in pretty much any key metric: Education, equality of opportunity, mental health, physical health, child mortality, police brutality, corruption, violent crime and murder rates, drug addiction, incarceration rate, and so on and so forth.
Yet pretty much the only opportunities when someone makes use of their 2nd amendement rights it's only to defend the most ignorant stance with violence. And in the few cases where arming yourself against the state actually could be considered a reasonable path, it gets subverted in no time - and the majority of people is not just content but actually happy about it.
If you believe the 2nd amendement does or ever will do anything good for the american people you need to wake up and check what reality has to say about that.

    • @swapode
      @swapode 3 года назад +6

@xPositivityx bless Sure, there probably isn't anything I could say to change your mind anyway then. But consider that an opinion is only valid if it can stand in the face of facts, otherwise it's just dogma.
You don't have to answer but I'd be thrilled if you allowed yourself to question your beliefs and see how they stack up to reality even, and particularly, when the thoughts become uncomfortable.

I really wish people's' first reaction to this song was just the lyric video - the images are from a German short film called 'Motherland', done about 40 years after this song. I understand the correlation that the video's author intended between war abroad vs dystopian war at home, but it does a disservice, I think, for people who are new to either the song or the short film.

Chris & Rheasia watching you in this video was a fucking experience.... this song was released in 1970. But only today, 51 years after the song was realesed and 28 years after my first listening, I understand the power and impact that Black Sabath had in any hard rock and in almost all heavy metal sub genres that came in the decades afer. And of course in many more things around.
Every person in the metal scene will tell you that, but only today I could feel what that thing really means.
First video of you that I saw that as the song progress you dont talk about the song as a music. You were talking about the impact of the song was having in you without noticed. And this was 1 second after the song started you feel right away that something was different (it was the Iommy guitar talking to you).
And then the famous first 2 mini riffs, one afer another, in a fucking right time before the vocals.... that beat you in the face harder. And then the power of the vocals and the lyrics started... with the darkness of the riffs as the song envolve, that catch you and stole your mind. And the video represents the lyrics and the tone of the song in perfection.
Remember that the same video without any sound you would not care about the thing.
I know all the albuns from black sabbath and from 3 or 4 albuns I know all the songs riffs and almost all the lyrics.
But only today I understand the impact that they had because of your reaction.
You can imagine the reaction of a young kid like metallica singer or from megadeth or many others, that want to play music since 13 or 14 years old. The firt time they listened to the first 4 or 5 Black Sabatah albuns, was a "what is this ?!?!" reaction like yours. They had never listening to something like that sound. Slash from Guns say this all the time.
Black Sabbath made their tone with a mix of blues rock and other types of rock too, but with slow tempos with the riffs, and that made the riffs feel so much heavy. Like the sad but true song.
Motorhead also influenced the sound of the many bands from the 80s but in the speed part. Motorhead in the first years was mostly a fast type of rock and rock and hard rock.
But even the famous guitar players from the 90s grunge bands and afer cited motorhead and black sabbath as a big inspiration.
If someone ask you today if you know Black Sabath you will fast remember the impact that the song have in you as a whole, but maybe you dont remember a chorus or something like you remember from a Rage Against the Machine song afer only 1 listening. And that is just fucking incredible from Black Sabath.
And remember, you were watching a band that made the foundations for almost all the metal bands that appear 10 and 20 years later. And had one of the best guitar players ever, the riff master Tommy. When someone say the name "heavy metal" is the same as "black sabath. Metallica will not sound like we know them today, it will be diferent in some way for sure without black sabath.
Fucking Ozzy and Tommy are really some genious as songwriters. This band is the n1 band in the world that have more covered songs from rock and metal bands (but now the name metal means at least 15 sub-genres of metal). I remember reading that Post Malone wanted to cover a song too.
I started to go deeper in their discography because of the Pantera songs and much more bands that covered their songs.
I listedned to this for the first time around 1993 when I was 14 or 15 years old. Nowadays I listen to Black Sabbath time to time like any other rock and heay metal fan, but I still know around 85% of the lyrics of war pigs. But whem I heard the song first time I already knew the trash scene from the 80s, and the grunge from the 90s was starting to grow. Black Sabatah had a minor impact in me as a band, only Tommy Iommy was impossible to ignore for me because of the riffs.
Ozzy said in many interviews that he started to write more dark lyrics because of the industrial english town where they lived all youth, cloudy and dark town.
And please someone has to send your reaction to Ozzy!
All the best Chris & Rheasia.
