@@jimwaters304 I kind of agree, there are more power & USB ports than many users will need, even for bigger rigs, However I wanted something with an integrated focus motor driver, and there's not much else on the market with one built in.
UPBV2 is fantastic except for the temp/humidity sensor connection. Mine drops out all the time goes to 32deg temp and 32% humidity. I have to reseat the connector- there’s no strain or pull on the cable or the sensor. Just venting really like the product!
There is a big design flaw with Pegasus Astro Power Adanced Gen 2 as the PWM output and the 12V input use the same 2.1mm x 5.5mm socket. Because the connection labels are on the top of the box you can’t see these labels when you mount your PC onto device using the Pegasus Astro Top Plate. The net result was that I accidentally connected the 12v from my supply onto the PWM output and toasted the PWM output. I don’t understand why they use the same connector for for these ports two ports when you consider they use different connectors on the PowerBox V2 and PowerBox V3. That was a very expensive mistake for me that could have been avoided by good design.
The 2.1mm socket was selected for maximum compatibility. New revisions now have an extra protection on each port so if you accidentally plug the cable into a wrong socket , the device will not power on.
@@pegasusastro hi guys, appreciate your response. The inclusion of protection on the ports is a very welcome update. I do accept design choices need to be made to ensure product fits a given budget. However if you do re-design Power Advanced to Gen 3 it would be a good idea to put the terminal labels on the edge of the device rather than the top like on the Ultimate Powerbox V3.
@@grahamwhite75a Indeed, we have changed that in the new PPBADV Gen2 upcoming batch (for the reasons you mentioned). If you stack the device with another one you cannot see the labels. Lesson learned.
@@pegasusastro just placed order with FLO in the UK for Ultimate PoweBox V3. Will be interesting to see if we can make this work on a remote observatory. I suspect I will need to keep NUC/PC permantley powered so that I can control the UPBV3 which in turn will power and control 10micorn through 12-24V and onboard relay. Incidentally I can't find user manual on your website, it does not seem to be on the product page.
The UPB is a great device. If only they could use a proper humidity sensor. Not this one that shows 99% humidity 99.99% of the time. I have used a few, they all have the same problem.
I really like their poweboxes of which I have 3. The only Pegasus product I don’t like is their power supply which comes with a relatively short, stiff cable.
I would really like to get the NYX-101 and the Power Saddle. I'm curious if there is internal wiring capabilities to wire the USB and 12v to the Power Saddle?
There is a big design flaw with the flatmaster 150. On mine, we can see the power cables that are running behind the flat panel creating shadows. Also the white flat surface of the led panel tends to warp when used in cold weather outdoor. Pretty expensive useless flat panel for me, and get replaced by a way cheaper one that I bought from Amazon. Too bad, the flat master I own never been able to create good uniform flats, and Pegasus support never recognized the issues. With that being said, I'm staying away from Pegasus products ...
That's to bad. I find every brand has a problem with something. Like ZWO and the camera sensor oil leak. Hopefully you give Pegasus Astro another chance. Cheers.
Check out the new Ultimate Power box ver3 Evans discusses! What do you think?
I've ordered one and am eagerly waiting for it to arrive.
I feels like over kill for many users

Pegasus products have this little bit of something usually missing from the rest
Really? Like what?

Great astro products!

I agree. Big design problems and wasted money.

Cables especially in cold are always difficult.
I understand but it is impossible to have a flexible cable and can pass high current (e.g 10Amps). The thick copper inside make the cable stiff.
I am waiting for more than 6 months for the powerbox. Launch end of january? I hope it stays that way and there isn't another postponement
Do we know where Pegasus products are made?
Very good and timely video, since I’m just now considering the NYX-101 as a possible upgrade. Good to see that customer service is as good as it is!
Thx alot, very interessing by the hand controler (
Just got a powerbox gen2. Excited to use it. Cable management will be a breeze.
Will be mounted on a dovetail.. 🔭
I use their rotators (I have two) and power boxes (I have four) and have been nothing but happy with those choices.

Not sure. Would have been a good question for the chat. I'll see if Evans can respond.
I am afraid it is not possible with current mount design. Also the input cable is thick enough to support 10A of current
Thanks for the quick response guys. I appreciate the info.
